In very early versions you could swing flares to deter wolves without throwing them into their face. I have no idea why they removed that. That was the only thing in the game close to melee apart from the spear in story mode
This happened to me in Black Rock, except with a wolf trapped behind one of the gates. Was able to take him out with an arrow to the head, as his head was stuck on my side, and his body on the other. Not very sportsmen-like, I know, but... 😉
This us why you should have the developer console mode to escape from situations like that, bcs for example on Interloper i think you ill not taking red torchs all the time)
Got mauled that way a few days ago on Coastal Highway. Put an arrow in this bears right asscheek and I retreated to the fishing hut to deagro. He busted through the wall like Canadian Kool aid man and clobbered me.
I tried hiding from a bear in an ice fishing hut, but the door bugged out and instead of swinging back to close, it swung the wrong direction and got stuck in a wall. I had to run outside and make it close over and over until it actually shut.
@@reddeck1906 idk about this game but IRL a moose would either run away or charge at you, pretty much no in between so a pebble aint gonna do shit... but i think i fear moose more then bears cause they are more abundant where i live, cause a black bear will usually just run away unless its really hungry, if you stand your ground and make alot of noise without hurting it, so.. perhpas throwing pebbles around it could scare it?, but a grizzly bear wont give a damn and will probably just attack you anyways...
There's a little doghouse/fence section next to one of the houses across from grandma's in Milton. I got trapped in that section by a wolf. But then it randomly got scared and ran away.
Flares can deter charging animals bears and moose included. And since it was stuck it was technically stuck in charging mode so it worked. Congrats not a lot of people get to deter a moose with a flare. As it literally needs to impact them to scare them.
When I first got the rifle, I saw a moose not long after. I decided to shoot him. I missed and he immediately started running full tilt at me. All my friends in the chat with me heard was "Oh no. Oh no! HE'S ANGRY!"
Haha. Okay I hope this will never happens to me 🤣🤣 In my let's play number 12 ( not released right now ) I have a Wolf on the roof. Was a bit weird because u hear him right next to you but in the first moment you are not looking up😅🤣
I just want a mod where you can tame and ride moose. Of course it would break the game, but I already broke it when I used one match to light a torch that I used for 50 days of continuous fires.
@@abouttime2569 Thanks, it looked like the Muskeg but at the same time I could tell it wasn't and it didn't look like any region I know. That explains it, Bleak Inlet is one of the only regions I've never been to.
Absolutely. The new updates continuously add good content, like whole new (and large) maps for survival. Plus the story chapters are still coming out. Like Kendall said, the learning curve is indeed steep, at first, until you learn to be patient, careful, efficient and smart which for me was a lot of fun to get figured out.
- The Long Dark was always worth playing, and that will never change, because it's a great game. in 100 years, this game would still be worth playing, even if technology advances, something that was good is still good. Like Pack Man or Asteroids - still great games, and they like over 50 yrs old already.
Why didn't you take the shot at point blank range? you practically could have put the barrel of your rifle right up against his forehead. Would have been funny if you did that and he didn't or wouldn't go down. Then I would have popped the flare....
Not sure id wanna shoot it in the head.., id probably put it more in the heart area if i could that close, unless this game doesn't work that way ive never played it...

He was trying to kill the moose not camping there
And that the moment when I always wondered, why your character can't swing some of their tools like axe or knife
Like use the Hunting Rifle's buttplate to damage the wildlife when on risky situations in a self-defense matter?
