He’s already the greatest singer/songwriter of any generation IMO. I don’t think anyone will come close for a good while. I just wish he wouldn’t of gotten ahold of them drugs and played into that fuckin’ reckless role. Strange that I found his music more than half my life ago and I’m two years away from the age he died. Fuckin’ hate that I’ll never get to see him play or meet ‘em.
I found him when Good Will Hunting came out. I got to see him play a few months before he passed. A few friends and I just went down there to see if we could get scalper tickets. We'd never done that before. I remember feeling like I wanted to protect him sitting there up on stage

I didn’t discover his music until late ‘04 or early ‘05. A girl sent “Twilight” to me via AOLmessenger or some silly like that. Wish I could remember who she was to thank her.
the Basement version of this is song his magnum opus in my opinion. I agree it's a tragedy we didn't get his version of the next album, but I'm damn happy we did get From a Basement on a Hill at all.
This to is his most powerful song. He sees the path he's going down, but says "don't let me get carried away, don't let me BE carried away" Saddest, most powerful song I've ever heard. And relatable to me, luckily, I found a way out.
