    The plastic on my lock cables broke on my install attempt. Old and brittle. Thank you for your video man.

    Thanks, in the market for one and this helps me understand it better. Wish there was a way to retain the torsion bar things

      @LexusOverland  Před rokem +1

      It’s been a bit of time since I installed mine and I still love it! It’s definitely heavier than a stock tailgate but you get used to it quick. I wish we could retain the assists too! Wonder if there’s the possibility to add a gas strut to help with lowering effort 🤔

    Nice work!
    To make the plastic cover clear the locks, have you considered placing a wedged piece on tailgate so that as tailgate closes, the plastic cover is slightly raised to clear the locks but when tailgate is open then the plastic cover is at normal level.

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  Před 2 lety

      Ooo that’s not a bad idea! I’ll have to see if I can make something like that work 😎

      Thanks homie! I would definitely reach out - the new hardware is essentially flush with the carpet. I feel like that's a huge upgrade over the rounded hardware!

      @@LexusOverland Thanks bud!! How are you liking the storage solution now that you've had it for a few weeks? Any additional creaks, rattles, or sounds since the old sheet metal reinforcement is no longer there?

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  Před 2 lety +1

      I love it! It’s really great. No squeaks or rattles at all. The cover essentially becomes one with the tailgate so structural integrity is maintained. I was shocked at how quiet it is but I tried to put sound deadening everywhere I could and I’m only putting lightweight items in there

    Great video! Wish I saw this before I went on to install the mod on my LC100. I was second guessing myself the whole time since it was my first time cutting metal. (ps. that code would have helped my pocket too)

      I thought about that as well - to be honest I don’t have a tripod to set up my phone to get those kinds of shots so I compensate with detailed explaining - but the channel is growing so I’m going to invest in some equipment for better filming!

    A multitool cutoff tool would cut that easily.

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Almost as easy as a cutoff wheel! Good advice.

    • @kellstat
      @kellstat Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@LexusOverland maybe? Maybe a small die grinder, or cutoff tool(dremel) with flex shaft?

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  Před 10 měsíci +1

      The metal isn’t thick but it isn’t thin - you’ll want something that can cut it easily to help with controlled cutting!

      @@LexusOverland some good leather gloves might be the best thing for that bracing? Have you used a spring kit for the tailgate to help with the weight? There usually set for stock weight, but it could help.

    Great video! I could not tell from the video or any research I did on this, do you have to remove all the screws and the entire cover to access the Tail light bulbs or is it easily accessible through the lift door?

    • @LexusOverland
      @LexusOverland  Před rokem +1

      If I remember correctly, it’s really easy to remove the tail light assembly and replace the bulbs that way! No need to remove the cover.

    John - I appreciate your emphasis on PPE but am concerned with your reaching/touching of the freshly cut metal edges (prior to deburr/filing). Please take care as to not cut yourself when handling those sharp edges! Great video and nice finished product. I agree with the other commenter that you should show the cutting process next time. The walkthrough of the issues you ran into was nice but video of that would be very cool.
