I love this ship and think she looked even as a museum ship, wonderful and still stirring sight. However, I loathe the glass box tearoom on the upper deck. I know the Britannia team will say ' we need the income it brings' and/or 'she had awnings when the Queen was aboard' but i is not original and ruin the lines of a wonderful ship. On a happier note, I recall one dark November evening, we were the last visitors aboard for a precious 30 final minutes before closing - just one or two staff there - the lights were blazing in every room and I could feel history all around us - the ghosts walking the decks with us in that wonderful place.

I remember Princess Anne saying Britannia should have been scuttled. Seeing how devastated HM the Queen was at the decommissioning ceremony, I tend to agree with her. Another faux pas by decision makers. And lets not forget Britannia made £6 billion a year from trade fairs, which went straight to the treasury, not the Royal family or the MOD.

Our latest misuse of money, the Q.E.class could do the same office?

Hats off to the British for preserving their history. This is what needs to be done to the Queen Mary and what should have been done the the SS United States. They've certainly put us to shame. Even a ship on static display requires good maintenance.

Back in 1997 when the Royal Yacht Britannia was docked at the Port of Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭 for refueling and resupply as it was enroute to Hong Kong for the handover ceremony. We were given a guided tour while in the country and our local media nicknamed it "The Floating Buckingham Palace".

there is a lot of commonsense in this proposal, she needs new engines and turbines, but hell she was Clyde Built. If the US president can have 2 airliners for his own use why can we not get back to sea, a floating embassy for the UK. we waste money on more things, come on, perhaps a public substitution.

During filming, the Admirals & Officers FML’s were being worked on or in the water and used in the dock. The activity boat was also in the water and used in the dock. The two whalers were still in place.

Why would it be taken out of Service and then still used and maintained as a museum? …and here they are repainting the hull and it looks like restoring everything above. Why wasn’t it just scrapped? This is like the Palaces. If the RF were to cease to exist, the palaces and all properties would still have to be maintained. So please tell me what’s the difference? I want to know.
…….and why the German music? …..really?
