The original author of this show considers GS as a character played by a Japanese munchkin-style player. Different from original TRPG munchkin style, Japanese munchkin style player follows the rule of the game or given by GM, but also do whatever it takes to win within the boundaries of the game rule. Thatâs why GS is focused on practicality and efficiency on his equipment and strategy, rather than focusing on what others or the world (or GM) thinks or wishes whatever suitable as an adventurer.

A monster that goes by name by the goblinsâs killer! He who knows no mercy. He who know no sanity. He who knows no weakness but his enemies! He brings forth death in a form of magic onto the most experience know, a hunter who has turned into a Hellhound! Lords runs, Champions quiver, and minions fall to his feet to his trail.
The gods of fate, order, and destiny do not command him. The dark gods of chaos, Chance, and coincidence do not command him. He commands his own fate that not even the great heroes or demon kings can do. He thinks and sees through all tricks. He followed by those hated and taught them his wicked ways. When a goblin, lord or champion, knows they are truly at deathâs door is when they see the crimson through his helm. A beast that will continue to hunt until goblinkind is stricken from the world.
The dwarves dubbed him Beard-Cutter, Elves dubbed him Orcbolg, but the name know by all.... Fear, amazed, even ridiculed by other adventurers is.... *Goblin Slayer.*

The true Ballad of Goblin Slayer.
**plays rip and tear**
The power level in this anime is normal. But more badass than most animes out there
It helps it keeps a relatively low-power zone. Unless they have magic weapons, equipment, etc. most warriors are only around as strong as humans in real life. Thus, even big monsters like a hobgoblin or Goblin Champion feel like a big threat. It also forces GS and crew to think through their tactics.
@@narutardkyuubi Even the more powerful and potent figures can't really compare or rival that of a champion. I think it's best to look at it from a DND perspective even the greatest DND character can't be a god by themselves. Goblin slayer as a silver ranked adventurer can be rated probably 15+ for DND levels. Yet with his gear being standard he's pretty weak against enemies of his level. That's something that's quite common. He doesn't like the idea of taking magical items with him in case he loses unless it's something he knows won't be too useful to use, like the teleport scroll.
@@lucielm Yeah, I think the novels also point out that, since he prefers ambushes and slowly wittling down goblin numbers with stealth and indirect methods, he's basically a rogue at heart. However, since their group doesn't have a dedicated tank, GS has to fulfill that role. Like you said, he also brings standard/sub-standard gear since he really doesn't want Goblins to get their hands on some good shit. So, he doesn't keep things like magic rings or amulets that could super-buff a Goblin. Even the Heroine, who is basically the strongest human in GS, would struggle against a Goblin Champion in a 1 on 1 battle.
@@narutardkyuubi I think the ranger class gives some rouge elements to the Goblin Slayer. I remember in Baldur's Gate which was using the ADnD rules which is old as heck. In that game the Ranger class had the ability to use stealth which only the rogue and bard also had access to. So I think for the sake of arguments a Ranger Fighter is honestly the best makeup for this character. It gives him the most versatility with tankiness in case things go bad.
@@lucielm I always give Minsc heavy armour in Baldur's Gate, though. Heavy armour and a heavy weapon. I just ignore most of his ranger abilities, aside from spells.
2:27 I really wonder how goblin slayer looks like in the eyes of those goblins.
He said it once. He is *their* goblin
(Translated from Goblin): Beware the monster that may come at dusk or dawn, when we are falling to slumber or just rising from slumber. It looks like one of the hated adventurers, but does not smell like one. It does not smell of human, elf, dwarf, metal, or any other enemy. It hides its scent in a familiar mask of goblin, blood, and death, to find us unaware.
It never shows its head from its armor like adventurers often do. It seems to wield terrible magic, caving in our lairs or filling them with fire, water, or poison, depending on its mood. It never shows any misguided mercy, it knows our tricks and suffers none of its victims to live, not even our children. It has plagued Goblinkind in this way for years, continues to do so, and refuses to die or relent.
A lucky few survivors say that when it is at its most dangerous, its eyes glow a demonic red, its limbs twist into tendrils of pure death and darkest shadow, and its brutality is such that some of our greatest Champions and Lords have fled this... this... thing. It tends to make adventurers more deadly just by being around. They say it is only growing stronger and smarter, and it is now accompanied by hated adventurers that are being taught its ways, possibly turned into whatever this fell being happens to be. We donât know what our enemies did to create this thing, but there could be more in the future.
We only know this monster is celebrated by our enemies. To the Dwarves, it is the Beard-Cutter. To the elves, it is the Orcbolg. To us, it is the Baba-Yaga; the Boogeyman that may come in the night and kill us all. The humans give it its best known name, the name we fear and curse: The Goblin Slayer.

And if you have an entire lock of hair, it will not break, unless under massive amounts of pressure. Your hand will be more likely to break before the hair does. Just as Goblin Slayer show cased.
0:00 how the doomslayer respawns.
1:15 in tabletop rpgs (or any fantasy media) if there is a character that Carry lock of hair usually ppl think itâs a creepy or sentimental memento. Then later something like that plays out and reveal that old man on hence remembering childhood memories is a veteran assassin waiting for you to let your guard down.
*Red eye blinks brightly*
Gobline Slayer: *Berserk mode Activate*
Goblin slayer lowkey rerolled and got a 20
ImTheWaffleman he rolled, got a one and called bullshit and changed it to a 20
The tag line to goblin slaywr after all is âhe does not let anyone roll the diceâ after all
He took Lucky as his Variant Human feat.
@@2ndThought_ That would make sense with how he is.
Everybody gangsta until Goblin Slayer gets shiny red eye.
0:20 I think that's "oh no" in goblinese.
_Tempered by the fires of Hell, his iron will remained steadfast through the passage that preys upon the weak. For he alone was the Hell Walker, the Unchained Predator, who sought retribution in all quarters, dark and light, fire and ice, in the beginning and the end, and he hunted the slaves of Doom with barbarous cruelty; for he passed through the divide as none but demon had before. - Slayer's Testament II_
yes
I believe he did not finished the goblin champion because he couldnt. He was about to lose the grip and pass out so he took the goblins eye and crushed it to intimidate and make them flee before he pass out. Guy got a natural 20 on the intimidation roll
Everyone says that what makes Goblin Slayer such a good protagonist is that he isn't some all powerful hero, and he isn't expected to save the world. But he, a regular man in a world of demons, monsters, and magic, is the only person that LITERAL GODS cannot control. Like, he is way more than just some angry guy.
I mean, he is always prepared and can improvise which doesn't allow much room to luck, which is how the gods decide everyone's fates, and then he has his immense will and hatred for situations like this one.
In his ravenous hatred he found no peace, and with boiling blood he scoured the ruins seeking vengeance against the goblins who had hurt his party.
And those that tasted the bit of his sword named him:
The Goblin Slayer

I think the vision there made Goblin slayer realize if he takes any more damage he'll be dead for good, so he had to intimidate his way out of the fight.
@@lucielm no it was a lesson from his master that "if you are gonna die, die like a nail in a coffin"
This battle is his declaration of will, he couldnt protect his sister, just like ending mentioned, every blood and tear shed is worth protecting innocent smile, so he went out of his way to save just one more person, he will not rest, he saves worlds, and im not talking about saving hero who saved the world 5 years later, im talking saving the worlds of every person threatned by goblins, he will fight he will not rest till every goblin is slain, always efficient, always methodical, always thinking fast, never acting in anger or torturing goblins for fun, always quickest and most effective
No one talking about how GS is literally the definition of a ranger with preferred enemy goblins and preferred terrain underground.
I like how this isn't age restricted, but the Shield Hero's blood sacrifice is age restricted xD
God: *Rolls dice* welp, I guess Goblin Slayer d-
GB: I what?
God: u-uh I-I mean, âdestroys every goblin In the roomâ heh heh...
âYou are surrounded by goblins, bleeding out and your party is in danger. Roll a d20 to see if you survive.â
*Rolls*
â30.â
âWhat the...?!?!â
*DM furiously squints at the dice and at the player. Itâs the same D20 dice used throughout the game*
âHow the fuck did you...?â
*Sees player calmly staring back, eyes locked and serious*
âCall it.â
*DM Gulps, sweating profusely*
â... yes sir.â
They are rage, brutal, without mercy.
But you. You will be worse.
*Rip and tear until it is done.*
I just remembered that a nat 1 on a shield bash or block can result in a catastrophic failure. One of the results of a catastrophic failure? The shield strap breaks, 0:25
Nice attention to detail, I like it.
"Dying is for Goblins, AND I AM NO GOBLIN!"
Goblin Slayer: John Wick Mode, activated.
This was such a good scene
And yet, is the scene right next to this, after the action stop and only silence remains, that really gave me chills
"Heed my words struggler, struggle, endure contend for that alone is the sword of one who defies death".
"Ahe? Huh? Haaaeyoo?" Famous last words.
Remember, champions are considered to be platinum-level threats
Honestly, him defeating him like he did here while all battered up and getting worse really shows how powerful he is
Not just in skill and strength, but wit and endurance as well
And yet I see some of the stats given to him and wonder how are those the stats they gave to him while you have constitution and wisdom levels that high
Looks like whoever had that hair got some posthumous revenge thanks to Goblin Slayer
the sound design is amazing
The fighter on his final bit of HP rolling a nat 20 on intimidation
0:19 The goblin sounds pretty funny
Stop making the punisher mad.
What makes a masterpiece? Is it how good something looks? How it sounds? Is it in the writing or the reading? Is it in the emotions it pulls from you?
No
A masterpiece is all this and more. It is effort and hope and love and care. When you truly put everything you are into the making of a thing. That is a masterpiece.
This scene is the culmination of artists, writers, voice actors, and sound designers putting everything they have into a scene not even 10 minutes long. And what for? In 20 years barely anyone will remember this show. In 40 you might not even be able to watch it anymore. Why? Cause it meant something to them. Because they loved what they did. Because they cared.
This is a masterpiece.
I'd just like to point out a small little detail.
He just slammed his shield through that goblins skull, and embedded it into the damn wall.
AND HE COULDN'T DISLODGE IT! The leather straps literally ripped and gave way before that shield popped out the wall.
Damn.
That initial black and white moment. Before his body could move again, his spirit stood up strong.
Never really thought about it, but theres something poetic about the Goblin being choked to death with that corpse girls hair.
GS: I didnât hear no bell.
Doomslayer: eyyy wretch, fetch this guy a suit of armor, i like him
