    NOTE:
A lot of people in the comments today putting some phrases in my mouth when it comes to "questioning the ability" of Mulgrew and Hayes. I don't doubt for a second both of them are fantatstic coaches and mentors.

Johnny Hayes has been coaching at under 16 level for quite a while, he is never away from Cormack Park, he’s a grafter and spends loads of time coaching, I would take Johnny Hayes in a heartbeat , hope you don’t get him. Unclear of the issue, we've used ex players to manage and bring youth through for years.
Both have the appropriate coaching badges, both are starting in the right place (under 18s). For example, had it been Scott Brown being appointed, then noone would care.
Darren O'Dea is the perfect pathway pro as he himself done it under an ex player.
The youth challenges in Scotland are not related to anything Celtic, its the SFA and Scotgov. Our ex players coached and developed: Calmac, Tierney, Adam Montgomery, Christie, Ralston, Tony Watt etc.
Their careers have turned out not bad, its not Celtics issue to fix the entire youth system. Indeed, we have multiple youth players out in loan both in England and Scotland to develop as we have no reserve league.

It's not how much you spend it's how you spend it. This summer being a prime example, signed 9 players and only 2 have been successful, Palma and Bernardo (on loan) for over £20m, the Gustaf Lagerbeilke saga screams of tin pot recruitment. I guess Dudu Dahan had his phone on silent that week.. Give Rodgers the "quality" he wants and sign 3 players for £6m each and a loan player or 2 with option to buy. And yes blah blah i i know how difficult recruiting players is as the board always says.... that's why we signed Edouard for a club record £9m once he proved his quality, snatched Frimpong and Moussa Dembele, Jota, Matt O Reilly.. Bernardo is hot and cold but he's only 21 same age as Yang! Bernardo plays older than his age and he's a No6, an ideal back up for Mcgregor, not an No8 or a 10 like fans want him to be! That's the market and style of recruitment we should be paying very close attention to! Look how better even the other club across the city does in the Europa League compared to us which is simply a fact. Not a single knockout stage win since Barcelona in 2004!
Michael Nicholson's now joke of an interview in the summer saying world class this, world class that it's actually so inept it's laughable. Oh and I'll never stop saying this 😂 but our £3m winger Yang who's stats are 1 goal and 3 assists in 31 games cost us the 3 points at Ibrox when he let Matondo cut inside rather than outside so he could get off that curler he tries every game! Forrest wouldn't have let him do that he's too 'streetwise' I watched Matondo trying to do it time and time again against Dundee last week but they had him sussed, let his only option be run to to the by-line as he can't cross a ball if his life depended on it. But we didn't.. the 1-2% fine margins make all the difference! We should have punted Yang out on loan instead and kept Mikey Johnston as a back up until the summer, at least wee Mikey has more of an edge to his game. Yang is about as inspiring and encouraging as a week old opened packet of crisps.. sorry for the wall of text btw first time I've posted a Celtic related comment in a while, understandably! 😂😂

I think the youth academy of late (roughly last 5 years or so) has actually been pretty decent with the talent it's been producing... however, we are in this bizarre situation which makes absolutely no sense given the quality of the SPL, but we simply don't have the risk appetite to play youth talents. Because the pressure of constantly winning titles is so high, it feels like it leaves the club in such a strange position where they would rather buy in older players and make money off them, then take the risk of losing titles by allowing more playing time for youth talent.
We've had some of the biggest clubs all over Europe all come in and take our youth players because the talent is there, but because of how seriously bad the youth set up is in Scotland, like come on. man, who the hell wants to be playing FITH TIER SCOTTISH FOOTBALL.... your as good as just playing shirts for goalposts with your mates in the local smackden park. Couple that as well with the bizarre demand for titles at the club and you get a recipe that leads to the very best of our youth talent will never play for us and will leave.
