This is a truly great movie and after you've seen it a few times, if you ever have trouble sleeping, put it on with the volume just low enough to hear what's going on and it should help. Maybe it's because the story is so good, or because there aren't annoying noises like in most films. It won the Academy Award for sound editing.

R.I.P. Tom Clancy, good movie, great book.They should make a movie of "The Cardinal of the Kremlin" too, the sequel of "Red October"
Clancy hated what Paramount did to his novel. Swore off Hollywood, although he had signed a three-film contract. He was stuck with what they did.
This film is real masterpiece of the 90's. I always wanted to see this movie and finally I did. Fantastic one!!! (just like the book). Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Sam Neill and others did a great job. Bart Mancuso was my favorite character but I really loved all of them
This movie should have been nominated for the following:
Best Picture (Instead of Godfather 3)
Best Adapted Screenplay
Best Cinematography (Excellent camerawork in this film.) &
Best Editing
Thank god it got the Oscar for Best Sound. This is an excellent movie with a great plot and wonderful story.
I love the narrator's voice, to me means pure nostalgia.

This is DEFINITELY the soundtrack to "Crimson Tide". It's my all time favorite Hans Zimmer work, and I've got the whole thing memorized. I think this is austinmillbarge22's own constructed trailer from 2008 (and I think it's a very good one). The music really fits this.
I could not find any other movie that brought the fine acting of this gentleman... Sean Connery.
Using the Crimson Tide soundtrack for this was BOLD. I love it. Well done!

Reading the book right now, its soo good, very detailed and interesting, the movie is quite good aswell, a lot of things used from the book (thx god) unlike most movies made by books. The cast is choosen wisely.
Came here when I heard the news that Sean Connery passed away. Thank you Connery for playing an excellent role in this movie.

This was often on TV in 90's. If you accidentally found this while flipping through channels your day took a turn for the better .. Commercials gave you time to make a ham sandwich.
One of my favorite movies. The book was amazing. I wish the movie went into more of why he actually defected.

+Walter White probably. Especially when you consider that Tom Clancy, the guy who wrote the novel this film is based on, is also the guy who inspired the Splinter Cell games.

Alec Baldwin should have stuck with the entire series as Jack Ryan. Would have made his career a whole lot different. He was terrific in this movie.

One of my favourite movies of all time. Love love love it. Nice trailer too, I like the way you left a question mark over the plot but it could use more dialogue here and there.
I can't wait to see the sequel, Hunt for blue November.

excellent movie.
This was a great movie and while Sean Connery has a commanding presence in any movie, I really liked Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan in this one.
Ryan is more of a thinking man in this one and uses his brains, rather than his fists or a gun (aside from shooting the saboteur) to save the day, something that's quite rare in film, I believe.

My mind blew for a couple seconds. This movie came out in 1990. Crimson Tide came out five years later. HOW IS THIS TRAILER USING MUSIC FROM A MOVIE THAT HADN'T BEEN MADE YET.

To be honest I always thought the movies were better than the books. The first 3 movies anyway, The Sum Of All Fears was kind of lame and I haven't seen the one with Chris Pine. I did enjoy the books though but my favorite is The Cardinal Of The Kremlin which they never made a movie out of and probably never will unless they remade The Hunt For Red October since the two are so closely tied together. And I wouldn't care for a remake. I stopped reading Clancy after The Bear And The Dragon though, but I've never heard much praise for anything after that.
BrownSugar1980 Cardinal of the Kremlin was a great book, one of the first Clancy ones I read. My personal top three though are the Bear and the Dragon, Rainbow Six and The Hunt for Red October.
The only God there is Lord Jesus Christ as we all will find out on judgement day.

One of my wife's alltime favorite quotes from the movies was late in this flick. Sam Neill (Ramius' first officer, Vasily Borodin, on the Krasny Octyabr = Red October) has been fatally shot in the chest. As he lies dying in Connery's/Ramius' arms, he whispers, "I would like to have seen ... Montana."

After watching the film, read the novel for additional edge of the seat thriller in Descriptions. Highly Recommended.

I’m so glad that I watched this movie. (Spoilers) The last battle scene between the Red October and the Alpha class was a good reference for me to use in Cold Waters when my Los Angeles class ran out of torpedoes and there was a Alpha class firing at me.
