I’ve played the trombone for a decade and am just learning to play the horn, and when switching from the horn to the trombone, the mouthpiece does feel like a bucket!
Liebe Frau Willis . Ende Oktober 22 habe ich den Schritt vom Tenorhorn in B , auf das Waldhorn unternommen . Ich habe versucht Tenorhorn und Waldhorn gleichzeitig zu spielen . Ich darf Ihnen gestehen das ist eine große Herausforderung. Ob ich das so beibehalte hin und her wechsel …da bin ich noch nicht bei der Weisheit letztem Schluss. ABER der Schritt von Waldhorn zurück auf das Große Mundstück des Tenorhornes ist deutlich einfacher als vom Tenorhorn zum super kleinen Mundstückchen des Waldhornes. Ich bin der festen Überzeugung das jemand der so ein kleines Mundstückchen bedienen kann , immer auf einem deutlich großen rasch zurecht kommt. Mein Klang auf dem Tenorhorn hat mit dem Üben des Waldhornes einen positiven Schub bekommen . Die hohen Lagen sind deutlich einfacher geworden .
The first music lessons I ever had was with a trombone. I think I had 3 or 4 lessons and the school made me quit. The teacher said they needed their trombone for another kid to play it in the school band. I guess I got over the disappointment. I began learning string bass about 5 years later, with some accordion during the interim. I did try a cello a couple of times but was not successful . . . at all.
That you're one of the hornists in arguably the finest orchestra in the world and you didn't know how to hold Mr. Alessi's trombone puts my own musicianship in perspective in that I might not be a world-class player of any one instrument, yet I can touch nearly any wind, brass, percussion, or keyboard instrument and figure out how to get it to work (even if it doesn't sound all that great). Then again, I studied to be a band teacher. I appreciate your vulnerability in front of the camera. It makes the rest of us realize that you are human and one of us.

I have done some advanced mathematics research evaluating the data of the last ten years of all the times and places that she appeared, recorded, been interviewed, and performed. The equations indicate there must be at least three of her. Clearly, what you are seeing here is an android.

Not me. I practice an hour a day and if he handed me a horn and asked me to play..... I'd shit. Period. Right there. And probably drop his horn.

I might be a bit inaccurate, but I think if you can play the horn, you won't have problems playing any other brass ("lip-reed") instrument.

It kinda makes me salty how long i had to wait to play a high D and here she is, doesn’t even know how to hold a trombone but played it like nothing.

All brass players can play ANY Brass instrument EXCEPT French Horn, and this proves it. Ergo, French Horn SUCKS. But the smear was pretty good.
