Imma explain the real meaning of this scene to some of ya'll who don't know. Cloud was quiet because he was worried about her. Originally, he wanted to go alone to the arena but Aerith came with because she didn't want him to fight her battles for her. He doesn't think she's weak, he knows she's tough. However, he's a real worrywart about her safety which is ADORABLE. Overall, he's just overprotective of her. If he really thinks she's talking too much he would've told her outright to shut up because he's like that lmfao.
@Mikki W Jokes aside, I seriously think it does. It is strongly out of character for Cloud to be disrespectful towards women. He has a soft spot for them and is a genuinely nice guy, even with this fake persona. Notice, he never is rude towards any of women, and very forgiving of any eccentricities, while towards men he often is much harsher. That's one of the details adding to why the scene in the Temple of the Ancients was so shocking.
@@motionista okay now that I think about it U ARE SO RIGHT. Although cloud is usually a dickhead (due from trauma and what not) to everyone including girls he's much more nicer to them. I guess what I'm trying to point out is that he's usually closed off and and a little mean to the girls but when Aerith breaks that wall down he opens up a little AND HE HAS A HUGE SOFT SPOT FOR HER AND ITS SO CUTE YWIM. I'm definitely open for more discussions of ff7r because NONE OF MY FRIENDS ARE INTO THIS AMAZING GAME 💀💀. Do share Ur opinions! :)
@@motionista what about jesse. He straight out tells her depending on the option you pick that she being too desperate and tells her to shut up during the mako reactor mission
Read it wrong here. Cloud was worried about her and didn’t want her involved in the fighting. This is pretty consistent with how Cloud was with Aerith in OG too.
i think they're both accurate interpretations of whats happening here. Yes cloud is worried about aerith but also whats there to focus on yet. They are just in the elevator and you can reasonably assume that anything can come there way in a lawless city but given the context of aerith asking repeated questions to cloud without any response it really does give off the vibe of a child asking "are we there yet" in the car consistently. You'll answer back respectively to a child but it doesnt change the fact that most ppl would get annoyed. If anything the fact that cloud talked back with respect is grounds to show that he does care about aerith given his interactions with jesse shows hes not afraid to tell a girl when shes being too much.
@@kaos-qc5ho Surely, it can be interpreted that way especially if the player's themselves are annoyed. But that's not the intended context narratively.
@@gunghocg i don't think you can 100 percent argue its the intended narrative context. If anything I would say the intended context is both. Hes worried about bringing aerith along into danger and her asking many questions while hes worried is making him more annoyed. Is he worried about aerith, most probably, but I think he can be just as much annoyed at her for coming along into danger and then being even more annoyed that shes not being quiet. You can still feel annoyance for someone while also feeling concern for them and given that cloud is not one for tolerance with people when they act up I think it is in cloud's character to be annoyed at her in this situation especially when hes been annoyed at her in previous times in the game up to this point. I think it can be interpreted the way you said as well but i dont think you can say its the intended context with 100 percent certainty and so the idea that cloud is annoyed at aerith is also just as likely.
@@kaos-qc5ho that's a good take. also that's why i posted this: he's very economical with his words in getting his point across, whereas Aerith's discomfort(?) is making her the complete opposite. It's hard to tell if he's *actually* annoyed and expressing it differently in this situation, as opposed to that guy that kept calling him "bro" and he was clearly irritated and unconcerned with letting him know. I posted this video for myself but it's good to know other people are seeing what I saw in this scene.
