- Old Footage of Yakama Pow wow. Native American Indian dancing and singing. Traditional Northern Men and Women dancing. I like the man with the bear head dress or headdress. It is really great.
I am from Yakima and I think it is great that these Indians are keeping the traditions. Some of my best friends are Indian!
keep your traditions alive. its hard to see people who deny their past and a joy to see thoose who embrace it.
This is my tribe. I'm a member of the Yakama Nation.
it's beautiful. the music, the colors, the culture, the history. I went to one as a kid. I'd love to go again.
I'm not native american but I sure am proud of them, though I'm sure to have precolumbian blood.
oh my gosh i think i saw this same show when i was like, 4 years old! those are SO much fun i haven't even been out there in ages.
Incredible. I am from Mexico, and I enjoyed this dance. Even I dont know its exactly meaning, I can guess this is a very important dancing for you. You must be proud of your roots. Congratulations. Keep being strong.
just listen to those drums beautiful, really powerful to see them dancing and singing like this.
as an irishman who always cheered for the indians in westerns when i was a little boy, this really made my night, cheers for uploading it Ahwahneechee
I agree, this is outstanding. I am based in the UK and a follower of Native American Culture from here. Having attended many pow wows in the UK over 20 years), I am still learning all the time. I love the drums, singing and dancing on this video. I have not danced in public myself but this video could be the inspiration! I am always aware of the need to honour etc and will take this into account.
I love pow-wows, my boyfriend is native of the Pima tribe here in Arizona, he has taught me a lot about their culture and he knows a lot about the other tribes in this area. He never ceases to impress me with his culture, be being of Irish decent myself I've been able to teach him much of my heritage, its a win/win imo.
Yes this was Sun Dome and the rest of the week end we were in White Swan.
its amazing......my girlfriend has 2 kinds of indian 1 canadian and 1 american and i have some mayan i can even speak alot of it...
another video of our powwow, wish we could run our powwow again *sighs* the goot times
Beautiful!
woooooooooooow very electric
magnificent
Since this is old VHS video that is compressed to upload, the quality is a little fuzzy. To get a better picture hit the left button on the right that has a box in the center. It will shrink the screen, but it is a slightly better quality. to make it normal again, just hit the same button. Enjoy.
Thanks for the correction on the spelling and its updated and corrected.
Happy Holidays from the archives....
I feel bad for the bird that got plucked for those feathers! lol! anyway, nice dance and vid
I think it is supposed to rain right after one of these dances, Thats why they are wearing those hats
wow huge bustles back then! hard to get those nowadays. :(
WOW! I'm in solidarity with Standing Rock Indians. It's a freakin' crime what's happening there.
Ste-ye-hah'mah still watches..
Be proud of all Native people that attempt to retain some of their pride while surviving in this world. Don't like powwows? Don't go, simple as that. By the way, what language (or dialect) do you speak or claim to speak?
WOW! when was this taken? Some of those dancers look familiar.
I missed this one. Was this one of the last powwows they used to have at the Sun Dome?
yeah...you are right. But remember the incas did sacrifices not for fun, they did it because it was an act of thank to the sun or Inti.

rubbing genitals lol, I was just kidding, I prefer ya'lls dances over our llama sacrifice in inti raymi, I hope they stop doing the llama thing in south america, at least in bull fighting the bull has a fighting chance, the chosen llama on inti raymi is screwed.
