- Buddha, the Power of a Beggar
The Strength of a Beggar
In the heart of Antiquity, around 500 BCE, a visionary man was born, whose teaching would illuminate the East and shape souls.
This illustrious character left his name as a legacy to the most predominant religion in Asia: Buddhism. Unlike other major religions such as Islam and Christianity, Buddhism has been less affected by conflict and war.
Today, followers of Buddha gather in various countries, such as Ceylon, Burma, Siam, Cambodia, Laos, Tibet, China, Mongolia, Manchuria and Japan, forming a large community spiritual, united and harmonious.
Buddha, an exceptional man, never sought to reign as sovereign, master or head of a kingdom.
His genius, devoid of any earthly ambition, nevertheless gave birth to a divine kingdom which continues to unite millions of Asians to this day.
In ancient times, the Buddha begged for his daily food in the bazaars of central India. Today, his golden image, that of a beggar of yesteryear, sits serenely in countless temples, far from the hustle and bustle of the world.
Swirls of incense rise before his face, and for more than twenty centuries, prayers have been recited and meditations practiced in his presence.
Asia, the cradle of great religions, saw the birth in the space of seven centuries of emblematic figures such as Zarathustra (around 700 BC), Confucius (551-479 BC), Socrates (470-399 BC). BC) and Christ himself, all of whom have trodden his sacred ground.
The biographies of these great sages, saints and founders of religion all have one thing in common: historical facts are lost in the shadows of legends.
It is not surprising that the lives of these men who walked in the footsteps of God are surrounded by mystery, chiaroscuro and uncertainties regarding their actions and gestures. Because their doctrine, immense and decisive, stands between our gaze and their daily existence.
What remains of the great saints is their spirit! Their life must be lost, because it counts for nothing, it is only the earthly envelope of eternal thoughts. Sanctification, deification and apotheosis do not need biographical data.
The life of the Buddha remains a fascinating and fragmentary mystery. His disciples, captivated by his extraordinary intelligence and moral strength, elevated him to the rank of personification of the spiritual world, symbol of liberation in the torments of existence.
They saw him as a miracle worker, surrounded his life with legends and recognized him as one of the saviors of humanity. Even today, the figure of the Buddha continues to inspire and guide millions of people around the world.
In just two hundred years after his death, his message had already penetrated every corner of the country, transmitted by word of mouth with faithful religious zeal.
The essential words of his doctrine converted the jealous and the enemies, and even the animals venerated him. The people adored him, the gods consulted him and made themselves his disciples. The kings humbled themselves before him and offered him their kingdoms.
All this was accomplished by the moral force of a beggar, a barefoot person, an ascetic!

Oui, c'est vrai. Toutes les religions ont un point commun d'après mon avis. Merci beaucoup pour votre commentaire.
Se n'est pas " himanaya" mais," hinayana"...
Mahayana= grand véhicule
Hinayana = petit véhicule.
