Damn that rear sprocket is ugly
Functional, he is ridding and can afford more gas......
Haha, yeah my gay part of my personality that likes fabulous stuff it's non existat... Bwhba
This is why I dont mind spending a few extra bucks for things that work properly the first time from a reputable manufacturer. And if the bike is down for that week waiting for parts or payday, I got 2 others for backup. đ
For 70 bucks you could have bought primary drive sprockets and o-ring chain kit from rocky mountain, great value and quality.
Well yeah but half that I got this and it's the same thing
@@vegasromaniac well not exactly, you saved 23$ I'll give you that. The tolerances were off, and who knows, the quality of the steel maybe substandard.
That's why they have torque specs. Why so cheep? Why not get better parts and not the headaches?
Little headache, saved 100 bucksz yoh do thay 1000 times in a lifetime and you have .. I don't know.. You do the math bwhba

@@joelsdobermans45 thanks man, always try to make then difrent
I agree with you on many things but this is just wrong......
Front sprocket that needs a spacer, low quality chain as evidenced by the excessive stretch after just one ride and the heavy/ugly steel rear sprocket.
3 misses on one purchase.
Haha, you clearly don't understand how chains stretch.., it's hilarious
I wasnât attacking you personally but since you went there;
You clearly never had a quality chain, all chains stretch and as such need adjusting after the first ride.
A few mm is normal but that blue chain looked like the stretched out waistband of your grandmothers underwear back in Romania.....:P
@@ramonvandervelden3024 by not letting it go you prove how much you know about quality vs overpriced, many fall in that Trap, hell, the majority of people gmhave called in that Trap.. I'll bet you 100 bucks this chain will be still good in 200 hours, all you have is to take the Bet..you already spend lots of money on exoensive chains what's another 100 bucks really...
@@vegasromaniac oof you took care of him lmao
Like I said man just buy a Sunstar sprocket it makes no sense to return all of that now. But this is why even when I decide to buy one of those kits, I buy the kit, and then separately I by a Sunstar front sprocket as well. Like I said the manufacturer recommends Sunstar sprockets because they contain the same specs as OEM. They're really good quality for the money
This was listed as same specs as the OEM but I think somebody changes the seal and when you do that the new sleeve it's sometimes shorter
@@vegasromaniac yeah I agree with that I ended up having to buy a different countershaft seal kit for my bike because the one that came with my bike the little sleeve that goes in with the countershaft seal was too long on the all balls kit.
This is a LOT of headache just to save 50 bucks. But good stuff that is NOT going to break and cause wallet pain. The other plus is that you end up changing it out less often.
I like saving money. But sometimes buying inferior parts to save a few bucks ends up costing more in the long run. Great video!! And I like the blue sprocket.
Sometimes, but most of the times doesn't, and in a life time you save a bunch
A penny here, a penny there. It adds up over time.
Nice video man! Like alwaysđ Just be careful with that inside spacer you put behind the sprocket! I tried something like that once and it ate away the seal! ;)
Haha, you did something wrong... Haha
Nice vid. You needed to grease the master link before assembly. All the O rings are there to seal the grease in the rollers but if you dont grease the master then it will fail prematurely
đ
If I won't go for an genuine front sprocket I will definitely get a branded one no matter what. For the chain I anyways clean and lube it after a ride so it is really not such a big deal.
I think I clean mine every month or more..
@@vegasromaniac I clean it about the same considering I ride during the weekend. But refresh the lube more often. It gives that goldie something to shine about!
Should of flipped the sprocket over and run the engine so it spins. With sprocket spinning use a carbide bit to cut the extra metal off to fit.
I've just recently did a lot of research on the "proper" way to install a sprocket because apparently KTM has discontinued making counter shafts for the 2000-07 rfs! Thanks a helluva lot KTM!! Steps to insure you don't destroy shaft; Make sure sprocket and shaft are in good condition, Make sure sprocket isn't harder than the splines, (sacrifice sprocket to save shaft)
use moly grease on splines, use loc-tight on nut/bolt, use proper torque on nut/bolt, make sure chain is properly adjusted, avoid hard hard shifting on pavement. (Or pavement in general on KTM rfs!)5556
Good luck with your kit!
That's extensive research, I don't know how you can torque that bolt to specs, I can never keep the pocket in place to do so..
@@vegasromaniac obviously yours is a little different with that locking washer so maybe not as critical. I just never realized the counter shaft, (or paid attention) to the fact can wear out prematurely if you don't care to do things certain way , could be expensive and pita lesson.
Always love your vids! Keep um coming!
@@whatsit2ya247 love your guys comments, always learn something new from you.
@@vegasromaniac get someone to hold your rear brake on and it won't move or do what I do when no one is around and sit on the bike with one foot on the rear brake and the other pushing down on the Torque wrench, setting the correct torque rating for your front sprocket is important and it helps to use Loctite on the nut too even if you have a locking washer an added bit of security could save you being stranded out on the trail đ also wd40 isn't very good at stopping rust at all as it evaporates almost immediately I'd recommend a dab of grease on the spines
I got the same red Ebay chain special. I've had zero issues with it. I clean and oil it every ride.
Absolute fact
Had the same Problem with a front sprocket off RM. they told me I need a spacer. Apparently thatâs kind of common. Who knew

@Aries Ulises happy to help =)
Ebay is not the problem but cheap Chinese copys are. Like a pair of exhaust manifoils I bought, the were cheap but also 1/4" too short for the engine
As I told you in the previous video, Pay cheap, pay twice. How much wasted time when you could have paid a few more bucks and bought a name brand set.
As I said in my previous video, you work a bit more save 100 bucks you do that 1000 times in a life time and you save... Well you do the math and you will get scared...
@@vegasromaniac There is a balance between buying cheap parts, only lasting half as long and spending twice the amount of time fixing issues. Been there, done that. I have bought many chinese knock offs for my DRZ400 but will not compromise on anything regarding safety or potentially damaging the bike. I am not dumping on you. Let us know how long these parts last. Hopefully the front sprocket does not damage the spline as cycleCruza found out on his WR250R. That was a costly mistake.
I am so curious how well it holds up at $47 after a 20 hours or so time on the chain n sprockets
I will sure post a video update
Lol my eBay chain looks ugly missing a few o rings but you just canât beat them for the price Iâm going with the bigger sprocket next chain on my yz250f give it a little more low end power in the woods
I never had one missing orings...
Iâm very abusive to my bike I think it happened when I got bottomed out in a mud and gravel trench but like I said you canât beat them for the price you can buy 3 of these for the price of itâs equal and itâs equal only last as long as one eBay chain this is the harbor freight of chains lol
5556 my man. Looking forward to see how the new chain and sprockets peform.
Yep, I'll be testing for you guys..
I'm not sure how it would work for you but I put blue loctight on the spline of the front sprocket. I read about it on the DRZ (my bike) if you don't, you could posibly strip the sprocket and spline on the output shaft. 556??? Lol
Yes I do the locktight also but the washer it's built for that, to hold it so it won't move
5556 Should of painted the sprocket multi colors just to watch the Haters heads explode.
Rainbow? I'll do it next.. Great idea.. I'll spray it on the rim, get stuff on parts that were not supouse to get painted people will die.. Haha thanks for the comment..
@@vegasromaniac did u ever do that lol

It's an art that some of us mastered... Haha saving money no matter what
and about the sprocket check the manual and tight it on how much nm it says and your problem may solve
It's not that the measurements on it were off as I explained in the video
I love this video. Great job on resolving the problem. I might have gotten my dremel tool out and seen if I could shave a bit off the inside of that sprocket, but your solution is much better. 5556 secret!
Yeah I got a dtrmel but I think that would have been quite a task, more like a machine shop task man,....
5556, nice job. It's worth it to to save money that way. That 1mm won't make a difference.
Thanks man
I'd rather spend the extra and get something branded rather than risk a chain link snapping and punching a hole in my engine casing or worse me! đŹ Also a little tip for checking the wear on your chain is with the chain on try pulling it away from the rear most portion of your rear sprocket, if it pulls away too much (4-5mm) it's time to change
Many people are driven by fear, they buy more exonesive becaye they think that they come with some kind of price insurance, but at the end they ar emade of the same kind of metal...
@@vegasromaniac no it's because they're proven and you can guarantee you won't have any issues and in the unlikely event you do you can can always go down the costumer support route and get your money back or a free replacement something that can't be said for unbranded products. Now I'm all for a good bargain but I've seen plenty of people skimping out on parts and more than often they end up paying more due to failures or other related damage due to trying to save some money when they could of just bought the proper stuff in the first place now I know this isn't always the case and everyone has had different experiences but I like to play it on the safe side and buy the proper stuff if I can afford to đ
5556 love the look đ
Awesome , thanks for watching
whats the best sproket and chain for my sxf 2013 chain 520
Nobody knows the answer for that question, but the cheapest, we'll that one might be answered
If grease is really coming out from under the o-rings, and the pins came move as a result of this, why would you ever want to have this chain near a bike?A chains doesnt magicly stretches, it WEARS!
Orings not doing their work, and wear on the pins after first ride. This is 47 bucks, and some work to make it fit.
A set with JT sprockets and Did vx3 chain is double that, and should last atleast 2 times as long, with an added peace of mind thw whole way.
Instead of the added work in the garage, you could add a bit of overtime at work instead when it suits you, and pay for the better quality. You spend the same amount of time, but get better parts.
Yeah I had a jd before, and it lasts as long as any other brand, they all made the same way really
Not everyone can afford the big ticket items. At least it give some people the opportunity to be still out riding! Rather than watching other people doing it! đ 5556 . You know you can look up all the stats on your you tube account!

5556 what are the zipties around your spokes for?
They say it helps prevent braking spokes
Vegas RoManiac allow me to elaborate they are zip tied together so If you break a spoke it wonât stick out get wedged in to the swingarm and take out all the other ones like a domino effect. The broken spoke will just stay in place zip tied to the one next to it instead of sticking out taking out a bunch of other ones.
Now we just have to see how long it last interesting,,,556
Yes I will keep an eye on it
Dang man I told you those front sprockets you got to watch out for those. LOL I really hope your bike is okay that would suck to have to pull the motor for that
Hmm... I think the chain is one of those things you don't cheap out on. One weak link and there goes the case.

5556 Good video on how going cheap can make simple stuff get complicated. But on the other hand you often learn more that way.
Yep can make life gammhard sometimes but think about it this way, you save 1000 times over a life time 100 bucks each time, how much you have at the end
@@blacklight4460 I make big bucks and I have lots of them saved for this exact reason, as far as usa, they need to decide if they wanna stay a capitalist society or a socialist one, Ăźn capitalism you buy the cheapest available, Walmart it's full of Chinese stuff, if they wanna be socialist and protect their economy people should vote that way next election
@@vegasromaniac Socialism sucks donkeys, Mr. Cheapo. You'll never get that and real freedom at the same time. WAL-MART opened in the West with a Buy American, made in USA ad campaign, to get people to buy into it - as they watched the small businesses close down due to walmart's policy of regional predatory pricing. Then everything then went full "Made in China" because walmart negotiates/grinds down the suppliers prices and because producers all want to sell a ton of product but have to have their product in "low price" Wal-Mart. You vote with your dollars.
Snap ring pliers is what you need..not a screw driver and hammer lol
I'll look into that but even in the manual it shows a screwdriver and a hammer to take that off
@@vegasromaniac it doesn't surprise me I seen manuals that have the same type of description how to remove snap rings but using snap ring pliers eliminates you having to swing a hammer anywhere near your bike crankcase or anyting LOL they make many different styles and types of snap ring pliers to so definitely look into it you like it a lot better too I promise
5556. I hear some people clean and lune their chain after each ride. Seems like going overboard. Some people swear by it. Do you clean and lube your chain often?
I do it once a month maybe, if I remeber, but that's oring, they never really need it unless the bike sounds like a panzer tank.... Haha thats when I usually remeber...
Whenever I do my pre ride check I always look at the orings to see if they look dry at all, if they dont look oiled enough I just spray on chain lube and it helps alot preventing the chain from getting a bind
that chain is like a good - 10 hp? there lube yo know
5556 - sometimes dont mind spending the extra money for something reliable.
I agree but spending the money doesn't guarantee the reliable part that was my point in this video

90% of dirtbike riders are absolutely not interested in buying the cheapest eBay part and putting it on their bike. The kind of guys that ride dirt bikes I mean really ride dirt bikes like 20 hours a week every day every other day not just a little weekend warrior hobby or whatever or not at all concerned with saving money do you know how many tires ...we go through how much oil... gas... tear offs ...fees give me a break dude people talking about well Iâm happy I have $100 in my pocket because I bought some piece of shit sprocket kit off eBay What a joke dude seriously. Most guys on here are very proud of their bikes and every part they put on them whether itâs functional or not and just looks good itâs an expression of their personality every bike is different nothing wrong with that donât hate on people that have the extra money to make their bikes look nice buying real anodized parts instead of rattle canning shit
You are only mad at yourself wasting all that money for so many years, while you could have easily got away for getting cheaper stuff and have the same experience, 100 dollars every purchase 1000 times in a life time will make the difrence between retiring early and not working yourself to the ground and having more time to spend on the bike explore beautiful trails. This video is not about saving the 100 bucks it was about getting the same thing at 100 bucks discount... Same exact thing just not painted bright to attract the people that believe that just because it costs more it must be made out of some more quality metal. Price and quality very rarely sync up, most of the time you pay 3x for nothing or maybe 1 percent better.

Never buy cheap shit from China for your bike, China can copy things well but when it comes to finer detail and quality they have no clue what they are even doing let alone making. They can make great cheap kettles and toasters but that doesnât extended to motorcycles and aftermarket parts. I mean cosmetic parts are fine but nothing important than can cause damage to you and your bike if that part fails. Iâve seen the damage a snapped chain can cause to engine casings. If you are so poor that you cannot afford the cost of a decent chain over a cheap Chinese knockoff then just be honest with yourself and sell the bike because you canât afford to own one. When the cheap Chinese chain snaps and destroys the engine casings the you wonât be able to even sell your bike, nobody will want it because it will be completely fucked. And if you cannot afford the extra cost for a quality chain there is no way in hell you can afford the repair bill of the damage it can cause.
What kind of empirical data are you basing your comment on. This is not the first time I bought a cheap kit and lasted as long as any other kit... Unfortunately for corporate of america, China came a long way innquality
