Ok man you really did it this time ....this is the exact same from restaurant recipie I did finish cut into thinner flat pieces and baste heavily and put under broiler for few mins was not dry at all even with the thin pieces was so tender . Made same as you did with eyeballing the whole thing because I knew I cant use actual measurements lol left out the 5 spice didnt have and I added honey to the reserve marinade to boil and baste amazing thanks

This is one of your best cooking videos, yet! I have got to try this on my channel, with a few adjustments. An oven bag for part of the baking process would perhaps make the make the meat more succulent. I would also cool smoke the meat beforehand to give it an added level of flavor. All-in-all, it is a master piece. When I try it I will definitely acknowledge you as inspiring the recipe.

I have a question about the sauce that you boiled down. Is it safe to put it on the cooked food after using it to marinate the raw meat? Anything that touches raw meat makes me nervous.
Missing a key ingredient that gives char siu its unique flavor and that is hoisin sauce. Adding honey will also give the meat a nice gloss, and fresh ginger is always better than ginger powder.
@@gigicaceres The cut is called pork butt or shoulder. It is the shoulder part of the pig, not really butt. lol. There are many good recipes on CZcams, just do a search. QT's recipe is unconventional.

Most likely the internet, and probably youtube mostly. There's literally a wealth of good cooking channels and websites out there and this is one of them. I say this from personal experience, as I really started to get into it about 3 years ago and have come a long way, greatly diversifying my cooking skills. I had pretty basic cooking skills before that and have since become the goto cook among my circle of friends and family lol. All from literally following recipes. You just have to take the initiative to look and learn.
