    I enjoyed your commentary on this one. Steely Dan is one of my favorites. And yes, very smooth.

    I've played guitar for over 40 years.Mostly in jazz rock fusion bands. I don't know a single musician that doesn't groove to Steely Dan. Great players great hooks.The production and mixing is dammed near perfect.

    • @steve.57
      @steve.57 Před 3 lety +2

      I'm like you only difference is that I 'tried' to play guitar for 40 years.....Steely Dan was a whole new experience in music and done so perfectly. I was a teenager and young man in the 70's. My favorites were Reelin in the Years and Bodhisattva and then all the rest of them.

    Tenor sax by Jerome Richardson, who recorded with Charles Mingus, Lionel Hampton, Billy Eckstine, Quincy Jones, Kenny Burrrell and many others. Steely Dan always hired top-flight sidemen. Love your reactions. Only 70+ phenomenal Steely Dan songs to go, and not a single dog in the entire catalog.

    Though you are not expressive visually in real time, you are clearly processing on an abstract, intellectual level- as you stop to describe what you are hearing- and I for one would like to say that I like your style. It took me a while to warm up to your approach, but I like it a lot.

    I love this song from "Can't Buy A Thrill". It always had a Van Morrison vibe to me though. Try Van doing "Moondance", "Caravan", "Crazy Love", "And It Stoned Me", "Into The Mystic", and "Domino" for more of a soulful type vibe. As for SD you're just scratching the surface. Try "Rikki Don't Lose That Number", "Hey Nineteen", "My Old School", "Aja", "Home At Last", "Kid Charlemagne", "Deacon Blues" and "The Fez" should be next.

  • @charliecochran3035
    @charliecochran3035 Před 3 lety +1

    Ha! Almost first!
    What I've always loved about this song is how it reverses the typical roles of the situation. I've never been the dirty work guy, right hand man, etc because I always think through to how I'm going to feel about it later. Maybe if a few more dudes would listen to what he's saying in this song there would be a lot of happier people out there.
    Edit...maybe I should explain that comment. By role reversal I mean that men involved with cheaters typically don't care who they're hurting and feel no harm to themselves. Women, by contrast, (not so much this current generation of early 20s kids who display no moral compass), tend to struggle with guilt and more complicated feelings when they get involved in messes like this.
