Dude, yes, this is my first video I've seen of yours, and im loving your vibe! Im a gf of a MTG guy, and we are super excited about BloomBurrow! I'm excited for my second standard deck (my first is a vampires deck). I love how passionate you are about the cards and compare them to others. I'm totally able to follow your thoughts, especially because you put up the card you are talking about. Anyway, great work! :) P.s. love the puns lol
Yeah I was about to say that it reads _target opponent_ ,so it can go into the same mono black or grixis crime decks that cards like Tiny Bones Joins Up go into. And it makes it so you can play lands that commit crimes besides just the deserts.
This and the outlaw comment that has been pointed out in another reply. This card is CRAZY good given all the commit a crime stuff we just got that is mostly centered on black cards anyway. that miner self reanimating card? can trigger on landfall of any land instead of just tapped deserts. it can scale up for mid/late game with offspring. we have both the new red class card and the boros gunner from outlaws (pay X, all non combat dmg gets +X until end of turn legendary creature). can easily turn a land drop into just blasts to the face. or just like.....use that simic XX cost card that copies X things X times. now it doesnt need to be a desert land, just copy like 3 lands 3 times, got 2 of these down from offspring? thats 18 dmg. this is one of the best landfall direct damage cards we have seen and it has a lot of promising interactions in standard.
@@connergish9060 The simic XX card you're talking about is Doppelgang. And you wouldn't want to target 3 lands if you have the mana for X=3. You'd instead target the Iridescent Vinelasher and 2 lands. This gives you 4 creatures (3 copies + the original) and 6 landfall triggers each for a total of 24 damage as opposed to 9. If you started with 2 Vinelashers because you Offspringed it, the damage would instead be 18 if you target 3 lands or 30 if you target a creature and 2 lands.
Sunspine Lynx may actually have a place in modern sideboards. The one ring is running rampant and damage can't be prevented is an answer to a turn 4 ring for protection. You're probably running some number of stomp for the same effect, but this is also tech vs lifegain and upside vs nonbasics.
Can definitely relate to the "pure unadulterated joy" comment for this set. I squealed with delight when seeing the new Run Away Together art and flavor text.
I, too, am of an era where a 2/2 First Strike Lifelinker for 2 just makes me happy. I think it will be great in limited even if it doesn't make the cut for constructed... and I will be trying to shove it into constructed anyway.
As much as I want to go down the rabbit hole of "How do I pop off with Iridescent Vinelasher", I think its main utility will be to enable crime cards. Mono black has a solid curve of: Tiny Bones Joins Up> Vadmir> _Offspringed_ Iridescent Vinelasher. Vadmir is going to get out of control in a hurry. And the grixis crime decks also have some interesting play patterns. Something else you could add to them that would further supplement the card advantage is Ob Nixilis, Captive Kingpin. Play a land, deal 1 to the opponent and trigger Ob Nixilis. Ob Nixilis grows larger while drawing cards. And if you've Offspringed it, now you're looking at 2 cards and growing Ob Nixilis even faster.
Man, of the calamity beasts we've seen so far the only one I've felt was a personal calamity was Sunspine Lynx. That thing is gonna mess me up, I just know it.

A potential pitfall for Valley Rally is that, if you gift a Food, then they kill the creature you target to give first strike, the whole spell fizzles.
Brambleguard is possibly a neat back-up card for the "Halana and Alena, Partners" commander deck. It doesn't give haste and it's not counters, just +x/+x until end of turn. But it'll still work with most things that also enable Halana and Alena.
23:30 - If you have Iridescent Vinelasher out, a better use for Dopplegang than getting 6 copies of lands might be to get extra copies of Vinelasher. To get 6 copies of lands into play, X needs to be a minimum of 3 (target two lands). Assume 1 Vinelasher in play. Getting 6 lands into play is 6 damage. If you target one less land and target the Vinelasher, you'll get 3 lands into play and 3 Vinelashers. That's 3 landfall triggers for each of now 4 creatures for a total of 12 damage.
4:51 As it so happens, there are exactly 6 Permanent spells (pre-Bloomburrow) that are Artifact -- Foods, but not Creatures (Candy Trail, Eriette's Tempting Apple, Golden Egg, Krovod Haunch, Lembas, and Three Bowls of Porridge) The point is that these Artifacts would lose all their other abilities, except for the basic "Food" ability :) (*Facepalms at "Re-blue-val" lmao) Edit: Oh, and apparently this Aura would just fall off the Creature after it became an Artifact -- Food, if it didn't also say Enchant Food...
