- Frontier Sawmill Info: bit.ly/3I0ktkd Join me as I take on my latest DIY challenge: cutting a massive Red Oak log into beautiful lumber for our new greenhouse! In this video, I'll be using the OS23 Frontier Bandsaw Sawmill to create 9 2x6 boards, 3 2x4 boards, and 2 1x6 boards. As a sawmill rookie, I'm excited to share my experience and the lessons I learned along the way.
Watch as we transform this raw log into the perfect material for our raised bed gardens inside the greenhouse. Not only will you see the sawmill in action, but I'll also discuss tips and tricks I picked up for getting the best results from this impressive machine.
In the end, we had two beautiful slabs left over, which Tanja will be using for some exciting projects in the future. Be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications, so you don't miss her creative woodworking endeavors!
If you're a beginner sawyer or just curious about the process, this video is for you! Grab a snack, sit back, and enjoy my journey into the world of sawmilling. @FrontierSawmills

Nice stack of boards out of that log.
Good plan burning the inside of the garden boxes
I think it will help them last without adding chemicals
Tony, I absolutely 😂 watching you do your videos.
I am 82 years old and just got my mill all set up and can hardly wait to get my oak , elm and cedar logs dawn. Your comments and panting encourage me. I wish you would get a hand winch to turn logs than use the cant hook
Great work
Lloyd, this is one of the best comments I believe I have ever read. Thank you so much!. It makes the effort worthwhile.
I can’t tell you the hours a day I watch you and others with mills. Yes I can my IPhone says average 3 1/2 hrs a day, I looked and studied for a yr before I decided, 31Max. But I love your productions and as you ref your wife. Truly thanks
Schooch (nudge) is in the same family as skosh, skadinky, pewunch - spelling may vary... main category - "little bit" also the name of a dog. The beauty of these is they can mean or apply to many things - in my opinion.
Hey Tony, when you're cutting those little pointy slivers, you can say "There's another toothpick for Paul Bunyan" 😂😂😂 Good job, my friend!! 😎
I think I am going to cut the 1x6s into tomato stakes.
I like your video, greetings from Indonesian woodworkers
Thank you very much!
When my dog would sit in my place on a chair or bed, I'd say scooch and he knew to move!
Red oak great wood great video thanks Tony and Tanya
Our pleasure! Thank you so much.
Pls feel better, Tanja. TFS.
Thank you. She is doing better every day. Nice smile too!
So glad you’re back mate god blessed you and your family mate great video love watching you and your wife at work and your dog but where is the cat.
Merlin cat has grown up. I will get some pictures for you soon. He is my buddy too.
@@TonysTractorAdventure great many thanks
Hi Tony, one little trick it did to my Frontier sawmill long log stops was install small roller bearings on the beveled surface. I let's the log roll instead of cutting into the log while turning. Bearings were about 2" outside and 3/8 inner dia.
Good idea
I have seen that done in a video before. It makes a lot of sense. I am thinking about doing some creative modifications to my sawmill overall.
For a used blade it didn't do to bad. Nice lumber for your project. Did you get any storms from the Mississippi storm? That was bad. Stay safe you two. O I forgot Gizmo. Thanks for sharing.
We were spared the last rounds of storms. Lots of rain.
Enjoyed this video Tony and Tanja. Red Oak is beautiful wood.
Thank you. We are about to go into sawmill action. Big fun!
wish my wife believed if I said something twice that it must be true but she says I'm just repeating my mistakes-haha
Same here, my friend.
After watching for a bit I thought you might benefit with an overhead rolling gantry made with an I-beam and atv winch with log tongs mounted on it. Easy for me to say sittin in my chair and all - but I can feel my back hurting for you.
Good idea, I use a mini-excavator or tractor with forks.
Scootch over is what your wife says when you are getting too close...LOL...
So true! LOL!
hey
good morning from Morocco
i am new on your channel
i enjoyed watching your videos
nice and good job
my great respect
👍👍👍👍
Thanks and welcome
@@TonysTractorAdventure thank you Mr Tony
❤
A "schootch" is to distance what a "schotch" is to quantity.
Tonya, I'm sorry to hear you've had dental surgeryI know that pain, and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Thank you so much. She is getting better every day. We worked at the farm about 6 hours today, before she said it was time to go. She is a tough cookie.
Your videos aways good ,bladed for saw hard to find?
I get the blades at Joe Maine in GA. I forgot to put the number in this video. They are quick!
Awesome stuff as always. I wonder if u put a winch up If that would help u with moving the logs on the sawmill that would help u alot with the manual labor 😉
I have to do something. I am going into high production mode in a few weeks.
I have been using the 10 degree silver tips on mine, have 10 hp, does that 7 degree help or hurt you moving through the log compared to the 10s?
I have ran both, 10 and 7 degree blades. IMO 7 degree provides a smoother cut and dulls slower. I have done enough of both to notice now.
.42 or.45 on those turbo 7s
Is that a 48 inch Peavy?
I believe it is 48
That's, move over just a little bit.
You understand how I talk. LOL!
Instead of square cant do hexagon or a octagon cant which would allow more room to cut then a reasonable size cant go for the square!!!!! Two Ladies were doing this a log and it work out!!!
This mill limits me with the way it is set up. I don't cut anything bigger than this. It gets dangerous. I am looking at a bigger sawmill.
Scooch over three months
2 a.m. a possum crawled into my bed and jabbed me in the back multiple times does that mean the same thing as what you mean
I darn sure would of scooched over!
No audio 😢 but still a good video
Finally got the audio working 😅
Glad it got fixed. You had me worried.
Anyone from the south knows schoch over
That's right. Schooch over just a smiggen!
"Schooch". It's a word we use here in the South. As in, "schooch over and let me get in the truck".
That truck needs to schooch over in the other lane. LOL! We need to schooch it just a smiggen
