I can relate, it’s like trying to get out of bed when it’s cold in your room
Nightmare is to having to get up early in the cold mornings for work in construction
@@upyours83yearsago32 Amen been there
Jocko Wilink Enters the Chat
Try having to get out of your rack in a frozen ass tent with no heat in northern Afghanistan in January. That sucked. Not going to lie I got yelled at lol.
@@Ornelas11B sounds more interesting than getting out of bed to sit in a cubicle all day, doing a job I hate.
Finally a true cold start video!
I have seen zero impressive videos about cold starts until this one.
@@kregadeth5562 it’s always Americans in -10
@stupid white cracker with knee growths at -41 where do you think the snow would go? lol melt? The track’s would stay crisp as well overnight
@stupid white cracker with knee growths did you think about, maybe it hadn't snow for hours before this video? Even before he parked?
Half hour
I don't think I've seen a cold start video of anything without the person recording saying, "Ohhhh she's cold".
Lmfao yeh I don’t think one exists
Also can’t forget the “ohhh she’s not happy”
Lol that's 👌 and true lmao
“OHHH SHE’S PISSED!”
🤔As someone who had a diesel van back in the day I'm not going to lie, I love that diesel crack sound! 😊👍
I also love crack
@@dieselmex1808same bro, love crack
Crack is amazing.
Probably a dumb question but what makes the sound ?
The pipe makes the sound
And us Brits moan when it only gets to -1°c 😂
-48 is like -10C°
@@CozyDream-mt5zuAre you slow?
@@CozyDream-mt5zu -40c=-40f
@@CozyDream-mt5zuthis video is in Canada so he meant -42C and -40 is the same for both scales
It says -42c in the description right there. And -42c works out at something like -43f.
But the reason I came to this comment is: we complain because we don't have luxuries like Duramax's! We're neither prepared for cold weather, nor hot weather. Brits are only happy when its grey and dull out.
That’s what my 6.0 sounds like on a warm day lol
Man thats a sharp truck!
except for, you know, the way it looks
@@tangentdark I think It absolutely beautiful. Mean looking
@@artm5583 yeah not sure why people hate on this look. It looks great!
@@NoLurp ya it’s weird. At first when it came out it was a little different but the 2500’s now look Like a real HD truck. Most people I
Speak with love the look
@@artm5583Videos don't do it justice for just how massive these trucks are.
The true champion is that battery at -42c 🤣
It doesn't even sound tired for such a low temperature.
as a Texan I must say, if it reaches anything below 58 degrees Fahrenheit I start deciding if I really gotta go outside or not
Isn't that t shirt bbq weather?
i’m texan and i still go out in a shirt and shorts in 30 degree weather
@@MainvilleATV hell no 75-85 degrees is t shirt and bbq weather
That’s not that much colder than room temperature lol
Shorts and t shit weather baby. Once you know how it feels to freeze you're finger tips and toes that's nuthin
Your owners manual suggests not using the keyless start mode in freezing Temps. It also suggests cycling the key 4 times to get optimal glow plug temps for smoother starts and longer life on the motor 😉.
Yeah I wouldn't normally remote start but I did it for videos sake ahah didn't know the cycling though
@@MainvilleATV
The cycling ignition truly does help be sure to give it a try. Would make for a great informative video for others who might not be aware of this. Have a Merry Christmas 🎅
You can't cycle the ignition on push button start salami
@@foxbodyguyeightyeight3672 lmao
@@foxbodyguyeightyeight3672 yeah you can, keep your foot off the brake and push the button
You know it’s cold when the horn sounds raspy.
My horn froze lol
@@steveco6844whaaat?
I’m shivering at 50 in Texas! Jeeesus Christ man be careful out there
It will no problem ..though that's why they sell block heaters for trucks.
BRUTAL sound ❤
Duramax power
Now that’s a real truck my friend beautiful cold start
I was freezing my toes off at work today and it was 14°F (sorry I'm American so I don't do Celsius) and I thought it was cold. This made me realize I actually live in a tropical paradise compared to this 😂 stay warm 🥶
Haha all good man! Canada has its moments. This isn't the coldest I've experienced but it's a decent cold snap no doubt.
@@MainvilleATV haha I'd say 😂
Best regards from Germany. You are livin' the live!
Not a chance my old 12 valve would start in those temps without being plugged in or starting a fire under it….
one I had started pretty decent. I never pushed it and plugged in below -20 but I would bet it would have started at -30. It was sitting at my coworkers for like 2 weeks when I was selling it, think it was -24c and it lit. he had a 24v and it didn't start. he was mad 🤣 I had 0w40 in it, prob helped
That’s why they make ether
@@kyle284ether still isn't that effective
I didn't know 12v needed plugged in. We have grid heaters on cummins engines. I don't live where it snows either so...😂
i had a 97 12 valve and as long as the batteries were good she would go, i always ran 0w40 i the winter
Good looking truck!
Duramaxes sure do start in the cold
That’s a good lookin Duramax
Duramax’s and Cummins Never fails to entertain us
Sweet looking truck!
😂 made my day! I was so happy it started without a issue 👍👍
of course that bad boi will start
An actual cold start great job
You should plug it in man am sure it has block heater. Those cold starts are brutal
It’s a boat to start
Sounds like something is breaking. Just plug it in man!
Lolol that truck is almost brand new🤣 I'd hope it would start 😂 🤣 😅
Doesn't matter if a truck is fresh off the assembly line. Negative 40 and colder causes issues
Oh it didnt like that haha. But it still started!
False alarm. Fuels gelled and I'm waiting for a tow truck lol. Truck starts, no fuel.
@@MainvilleATV Oh no!
@@780Aleks-AB it's not warm.
@@MainvilleATV Add Methal Hydrate
@@Hennes003 does methyl hydrate ungel fuel? This is really cool to know and I’ll be carrying some on me in the winter from now on
That engine probably wore the equivalent of 20k miles in one startup lol
Room temp iq right here
That’s perfectly healthy for a diesel lmao.
Not healthy for any engine. Especially at those temps with no glow plug cycles or engine heat plugged in.
The oil in it probably had the consistency of honey. Good on wear and tear lol
@@CaptainAlex69no, it isn’t
No way I was up in high level for work the last month shout out from grand prairie alberta!
Nice!
Man’s sounded like Santa when that truck started 🎅
Ho ho hoooo
High Level. Your only a short drive North of me lol. My 5.3 still started at -48 but it wasn't happy about it haha. Nice rig you got there
Not a rig
@@michaelsmustang5.099 a rig is a term used to refer to literally any vehicle..
Yeah I got an ls 5.3l v8 1999 it starts but it ain't happy when it's super cold
@@nate9626 Exactly! Particularly pickups. Doesn't have to be a semi
Was just -35 here in Colorado, my 5.3 started up with cranking it, did not start with remote start😂
My 08 duramax will start in -30 without being plugged in, on first glowplug cycle. So I would hope your new truck would start lol
your poor truck
@@Sarah-hp2ty it doesn't seem to mind.
I've done it with my 04.5 LLY a few times getting off work from sitting 3 weeks in red deer. She didn't like it at all. But wasn't much you can do when it's parts at the airport in Edmonton when worked in the NT.
mine will start at -80 with no glow plugs

I smell def problems 😅😅
Egr delete
@@michaelsmustang5.099 egr and def are different and are in different places on the truck
@@Ol-crusty-Cummins when you delete the egr you basically get rid of all the dpf and def system
@@boraxguy8302 nope you still have the dpf doing it’s job and def still being injected into the exhaust egr only recirculates the exhaust gas back into the engine
@@boraxguy8302 I think what you mean is, if somebody deletes the egr more than likely they’ll delete the rest of the emissions system(def, scr, cat)
An egr and dpf are two totally different parts of the emissions system designed to do different things. Egr recycles exhaust gasses and the def system traps soot
Wow, you’re so precise on your weather forecast
Oooo she was grumpy!! Nice vid
Had it running several hours already
As a rule, I don’t go farther north than St. Augustine.
🌴🐈🐈🐈🌴🏴☠️
That’s impressive! Fired right up
Sounds absolutely beautiful
Others might not feel the same, but I love it when a vehicle doesn't quit and starts like this when many others fail in the same conditions.
One of the reasons I love my little tacoma, she might not be the best, but she's a fighter.
What’s up with all these damn cold starts on here?
It's winter time and people like seeing how engines do in cold weather.
She was huffin n puffin
I live in the NWT last month was -50 in inuvik
Might be a good idea to make sure the lights are off to save some power for the battery, just sayin.
They turn on automatically.
Led draws almost now power. I left my interior leds on for a week at my parents one time and started right like the battery was full 🔋
Actually putting on the lights for a bit before you start it is a good thing. It gets the ions in the battery moving with the draw but also that action will give you a little extra boost. If you ever get in a vehicle that can hardly start try putting on your lights for a bit then turn them off and try cranking. It works unless the battery is totally dead.
I drive a 2003 gmc sierra,I turn my lights off if they come on before I start,if and when I get a new truck I will take your advise, thanx for the info!
Meanwhile my 7.3 won't start here in Florida!
Was that Santa? "Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho Hoo"
Great reaction lol . Definitely cold 🥶
Sounds like it was in a heated garage all night
No? Diesel’s have heat plugs. You’re not supposed to immediately crank the engine when it’s that cold, but rather cycle the key to get the plugs warm. It will start pretty quick after that
@@soupy2jz893 agreed I’ve been Cummins all my life.
That battery sounded too powerful to be -42...but I have started my LBZ in -40 so they will start!
To powerful.. bud they're wrapped tighter that you told ladies ass and cold cranking amps are through the roof my lbs cranks like that when it's up their and 35 below fahrenheit
Dirtymax for the win!
Beautiful truck! A real true cold start.
As a tech, I expect the 6.6 l5p to start on the first crank everytime
Sounded like the beginning of the GUN’S and ROSES song
Omg that sounds crazy

Why is that such a beautiful sound???

Had a minus -40 day here in CO last winter & mine was the only one of the groups to start too! Gorgeous truck ya got there good sir 🤙🏻

The Santa laugh

Dude laughs like Santa... why is this cool? Hey look my truck barely starts when it's cold!
No idea, but 20 to 50k views a day and climbing is pretty cool 😎
Didn’t know Santa has a duramax
She sounds like an Army Humvee during cold start mornings in the motor pool for command maintenance 🥶😄
She's a beauty!👍
Beautiful wagon.
Beautiful truck!
Sounds great!!!
A bottle of winter fuel additive with every fill up, leave it running when you can, and plug it in when you can't leave it running.
It's probably a good idea to plug the block heater in. That sounded like a really rough start🥶
That was awesome
Anyone that says that truck was already warm, the sounds coming from under the hood say otherwise lol ive never heard a duramax sound like that lol
The lights were already on they didn't go out until he started it then they blinks n stayed on after he started it.. were it already running bfor he started it.
It was definitely a cold start.
