I'll be 74 in a few weeks, and I've listened to MUCH music in my years - I play bass in blues and rock cover bands, and, with a buddy, have written some songs - but have never, to my utter mortification, heard of Willy, nor, obviously, listened to him. I'm in South Africa, so that can explain much! I don't know anybody who is familiar with Willy DeVille / Mink DeVille. I'm going to change that!

Willy DeVille was a genius, but this track (especially) also shows the benefit of having a great sideman. So often they are underrated. I saw Robin Bullock acting as sideman to Tom Paxton on his farewell tour and he was another example of their importance.
