Scrapbook Album Tutorial Part 1 - Covers and Spine

- This is the first tutorial for scrapbook album. I'm showing how to make covers and spine for album. In part 2 and 3 I will show how to make all elements and decorate it.
You will need:
► cardboard
► card stock - 220 gsm, 300 gsm
► scrapbook paper for decoration
► self healing cutting mat
► pencil, eraser
► scissors (amzn.to/2FM0A0p)
► glue, double sided tape, 3D foam tape
► scoring tool (amzn.to/2I42ISD)
► scoring board (amzn.to/2Undb2m)
► paper trimmer or rotary cutter(amzn.to/2HRkZDp)
► wooden clips
► ruler
► eyelet pliers
► magnets
► to make card stock circles, I use my Sizzix Big Shot Plus (amzn.to/2CYePxs) and cutting dies (amzn.to/2CZBN7h)

First off, I love the video! You have a real talent for creation, one which I so admire. Second off, I had a question. I am wanting to make a scrapbook with 8 hinges and was wondering what the measurements should be for that, based on if I were to follow the rest of this tutorial as you have it? Thank you so much!
If you would like to have 1.5 cm between two pages than you will need 34.5 cm wide card stock for the spine, scored every 1.5 cm (glue two 1.5 cm spaces together and leave one then repeat the same steps until you get the hinges). That way you’ll get piece with 8 hinges. Spine (cardboard) should be 13.5 cm wide - 10.5 cm to fit the hinges + 1.5 cm on each side of them.

Try searching for geometry set square. They have them on amazon, staples, aliexpress (set square triangle ruler).

I have one question that instead of cardstock we can use chartpaper
I would suggest using paper that weighs at least 200 gsm
Could we make the same with chart paper?
Ma'am where can we find 70cm long cardstock 220gsm ?? Also the cardboard where can we get .... I'm getting brown cardboard in stationary which is not stiff like the one u used

This large paper sheets are available i my local craft store, and they are from Italian manufacturer. They are usually used by kids in school for presentation posters. You can replace them with three smaller papers. Wrap each cover individually and then connect them with a spine.
For base I am using chipboard that is 2mm thick. It’s a bit different than normal cardboard. It’s also sold in different online stores. I get most of my supplies on Craftelier. They really have tons of scrapbooking suplies.

I love this but can't find the 70x37 black cardstock!
You can always use multiple paper sheets instead. Wrap each cover separately and then connect them with spine element.
Hi if I alter the 9cm to 5cm is it possible? As I want the album to be a little thin. If can, do I have to alter other measurement?
Number of pages will have to be smaller. Probably 3 pages if you keep 1.5 cm between two pages.
Very very amazing..bt i have a doubt..what if i dont have 70cm length cardstock..and i want to make smaller length of scrapbook?? How to reduce the calculation u have given..please help me
You can adjust it in a way that you make covers with three sheets of card stock. One sheet for each cover which you later connect with spine. I will upload new tutorial next week in which I’m showing how to do it.

This is a great tutorial and I have understood everything and done it except for the spiral for the middle. I didn't understand how to di that. Can you explain it again in anothet video? Slowly?

It’s called scoring tool or bone folder and scoring board. ☺️

Hi, all my tutorials are in centimeters only. There are english instructions, but measurements are not in the inches.

what’s the substitute for card stock??
Card stock is thicker paper. I use one that weighs between 200-300 grams per square meter. If you are planing to make paper album, than you will need to use some sort of paper - card stock.

It’s 2mm grey cardboard sheet.
What type of glue is being used?
For scrapbooks I’m using combination of the double-sided tape and liquid glue (solvent-free adhesive for paper, textille, wood; brand Mitol).

I don't have scoring board so can I used scale
If you have a scoring tool use it with a ruler, or another straight object (book etc.). Scoring tool can be replaced with a plastic card, knife (flat side) or other pointy tool. Just make sure it’s not too sharp and that you don’t tear the paper.

I bought those some time ago in a store similar to a dollar store - it's called Tedi and located in some european countries.

I get them in my local craft store. Brand is called Fabriano. Here in Slovenia, kids use them in school for poster projects. They also sell them in dollar stores.

Where can I find the large sheets of card stock ?
Card stock I’m using is from brand Fabriano. I buy it in Arts and Craft store in Slovenia. You can also check your local Craft stores, dollar stores - Tedi in Europe, online stores (such as Scrapbook, amazon, ebay,...).

Its hard to prevent the paper to bubble up☹
Yes that happens a lot. Make sure you don’t put too much glue at the same time. It also helps if you place a paper under a heavy object (books for example) while the glue dries. And the most important thing is to use glue that is acid (solvent) free.
Glue that is designed specially for paper/card stock usually works better too.
