They could do with those apartments here in the UK. Thankyou for showing us your lovely apartment.
They should have these kinds of apartments in the States for young adults and the elderly. It would solve some major living situations and safety hazards. Especially for the elderly. They would be well protected in their homes, and not worry about having to clean. Kudos to Japan!

We do have them in the states. They just are not called apartments. The utilities, cleaning, internet, parking etc. are included in the price. They are frequently used when housing is needed until the person's housing is ready/available.

I'm always impressed by the things that are in Japanese apartments. I'd love to have a heating function in my bathroom to warm it up and to dry my clothes.

Hi Lou, USA 🇺🇸 Missouri here. Your apartment looks wonderful. Since my hubby and I retired, we bought a new house in the country, it’s in a retirement community. I really like it here. The only problem was trying to fit 50 years of marriage into a small house. I wish we had more storage space. Our last house had 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, family room, living room, dining room and recreation room. We now have a kitchen/dining room and living room that is combined, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Things are different and yet the same all over the world. I’ve learned storage tips from you. Makes my life easier…thank you. Take care.

Lou, I have a suggestion for your umbrellas. Your backpack and purses are large enough to hold an umbrella. Put one in each bag and you’ll always have one with you. The umbrellas come with covers so once you shake them off you can recover them and put them back in your bag. They can be dried out in your drying area if they need to be. Just a thought. Waiting to hear about your job interview.

A cleaning tip: if you have to remove something tacky like stickers that leaves a sticky mess, as Lou just did, when you need to remove velcro…loads of things. All you need to do is pull off the item, say Lou pulls off the Velcro and it’s sticky on the door, apply spray furniture polish and rub with some fabric, a dish cloth, washcloth/flannel, tea towel etc then rub firmly. There you go the sticky mess is gone. It’s it’s very sticky it may take a couple of tries

Listen Lucy! Each box can be carefully opened, flattened, and folded back again when needed. This way, you can store a ton of boxes together in a small space. I recommend putting a strong adhesive tape right next to it. All the best…..Eszter

I love their apartment floor plans. It’s rather small compared to North America but tons of super functional build in like bath temperature control, small cupboards specifically designed for condiments beside stove and the shower-toilet seat🚽! (The best part)
Me and my family (3 persons) live in Germany, in a tiny flat. We are minimalists and love it!

Your apartment is so cute & very efficient.
You can always get some of that removable contact paper to put on the end table, then you can remove it (w/out damaging the surface) when you move out.
I did that to my kitchen counter in my last apartment because I wanted to counter to look like marble & the removable paper was what I used.

Hi Lou! Thanks for letting us see your new apartment. In some ways, its superior to similar sized American ones, which are often in old buildings. When I was your age, i had an old studio apt in downtown Seattle, where the old gas stove blew up in my face and singed my eyebrows. It had an in wall Murphy bed from 1910! Now, 40 years later its been remodeled to $1 million condos.
That is such a convenient apartment. I love the bathroom control settings best. Controlling the temperature of the water and filling the bathtub is so useful. I also love your sweater that you are wearing. It looks very cozy and comfortable. I love how Japanese make things that help to make the most of small spaces.
