  • The Atlas is a 3-row midsize SUV from VW. ON the outside you will discover 20in wheels, raised roof rails and refreshed styling. On the inside there is a leather interior, digital gauge cluster and new materials. Under the hood is a 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 VW Atlas a better midsize SUV than a Hyundai Palisade?

    VW got me for life. I have a 2022 SE V6 w/Tech and 4motion. Dealers were price gouging 8-15K over MSRP (I started with Teluride, then Palisade, Mazda, Highlander, Explorer, and Pathfinder). I refused to bribe the dealers and landed at the VW dealer.
    Just at my 2-year anniversary and I love everything about this SUV. Classy, luxurious, quiet, comfortable. One minor zonk is the annoying squeaky brake sounds especially in colder weather. I was told it’s by design due to the ceramic brakes 🤷‍♂️.

    That's a lot of car for $39K quite honestly. Since it's a VW and reliability isn't class leading based on history, this would be a good lease candidate while the warranty is in force.

    • @GODLYN1X

      Honestly VW are good and it all depends on the models and years and more on side of what driver the car will have… like if you take care of it how it should be then this cars are actually reliable and cheap to maintain. And it does give a lot. Comfort, speed, luxury and gas mileage. And it depends of course

    • @aliqureshi3649

      This is the best value candidate if you keep it well maintained and under warranty. I cross-shopped Honda, Nissan, Toyota, KIA, and Hyundai and found the Atlas more premium in this class. To be honest, it makes it own class where it's better than the Japanese in optionality and room, and below the Audi, BMW, and Mercedes for the price.
      Honda and Toyota may offer high-reliability but had the worst driving experience, dated infotainment, and below par sound systems even on top of the line trims.
      Nissan is out of race to be honest, while KIA and Hyundai were better than the Japanese options, the driving experience, insane mark-ups with theft-friendly options didn't make sense to me.
      VW offered me a great CPO deal with extended warranty which is still by far the best running vehicle in this class for the money and options.

      @@aliqureshi3649 Don't overlook the Pathfinder. We have a 2022 in platinum trim and it's extremely comfortable, well optioned, and made very well with the bulletproof VQ 3.5 and ZF 9-speed transmission. There's a lot there for the money.

      Its a shame but EU VW is a lot different than US VW. I have owned several VWs and they have been very reliable. I always hear US complain about VWs which is not so strange when you see what kind of cars VW sells there.

    • @aliqureshi3649
      @aliqureshi3649 Před 3 měsíci

      @kamata93 that's true, but the VW group is equally responsible for selling low quality cars to US as much as the consumers. I loved the Touarrg, but it went out of business due to higher price perception by consumers. VW should still focus on better engine quality with a little bit of premium for select trims.

    How they can get 20 MPG with such a heavy car speaks to how efficient 4 cylinder motors have become. Hate the fake exhaust. Don't like any chrome. Overall a very competitive offering. Like the wood trim; very tasteful.

    I own both a 2024 BMW X3i and a 2024 VW Atlas R Line. I like the Atlas for its spaciousness and refined appearance, and I like the BMW for its sporty design, and practical features, such as functional air intakes and real exhaust tips. I compared the Telluride and Palisade with the Atlas, and all quirks aside, I just think the Atlas looks better. I especially like the front and rear lights. Let's face it, the cars we choose to buy are based more on subjective impressions and less on objective metrics. Nonetheless, the Atlas does have good numbers that enhance its practicality (such as interior design and spaciousness and reasonable fuel economy). The Atlas is also well-equipped with 6 USB-C drives. I have a lifetime of music stored on a 512 GB USB C drive. The interface allows me to navigate all the music in an easy interface that you can choose to organize like a directory structure on your computer hard drive. VW has always provided the best way to access music from external sources. The Atlas is a great vehicle to use for long road trips (camping trips), with enough space for a large cabin tent, 30 gallons of water, a 2,786W Eco Flow power station and a solar panel and a bathroom tent equipped with a shower and a toilet. Who needs an expensive RV when I can fit it all in my Atlas!

    I knew this one would get many zonks. The fake vents, fake exhaust, and a major one for me is the power train turbo 4 banger in a midsize suv makes no sense. V6 is the way to go. The palisade is a much better choice

      what more do you want? for 40k in a Honda Pilot LX, you get no exhausts, fake vents as well, no standard AWD, cloth seats that aren't even heated, dual zone climate (not tri), and a 7 inch touch screen with 7 inch gauges. Toyota Highlander for 40k in the LE that's also what you get. meanwhile the Atlas has full LED lighting inside and out, better styling, leatherette heated and ventilated seats, tri zone climate, full digital gauges and 12 inch screen, light bar in the rear, plus storage area below the shifter. the only competition that is as valuable as the Atlas is the Subaru Ascent, that still isn't as feature packaged as the Atlas. you just be stuck in 2005 if you want anything more than this for 40k.
