  • Baled forage brassicas were more popular than ever this year and despite the limitations of baling brassicas, when managed correctly, farmers made high quality bales. Bill O’Reilly of Germinal visited James Goff and his 150 cow dairy herd in Co. Waterford. James ensiled the hybrid brassica Redstart in October in ideal conditions, which was wilted over 3 days and then baled. The crop proved highly palatable and has lead to increased intakes.
