This song is vert important to us. All the lyrics are metaphors about the dictatorship that there was in Argentina between 1976-1983. Argentina is compared to Alice in Wonderland. In spanish the title should be "Alicia en el pais DE LAS MARAVILLAS" (Wonderland), but the band decided to cut that part of the title because Argentina wasnt the wonderland. This song was written under dictatorship, thats why they use metaphors. Seru Giran is a Progressive Rock band, so if you are not ready to react to progressive rock and his peculiar sound, you should go slow

I went to see Charly with my mom when I was a teenager, when he released the Say No More album. I remember her telling me "I must warn you, he may play a lot or he may get mad and walk off the stage". That night he played 3 hours. I was so happy.

Yes, the lyrics of the song "Song of Alice in the country" is a metaphor for the Alice in Wonderland movie with the disastrous history of the military governments of the '60s, '70s and '80s. Was a year complicated for argentinian people
You have watched and listened to 1% of Charly Garcia. That video is from his third band (Check out “Eiti Leda”, “La grasa de las capitales”(song and album), “Peperina” (song and album) and “Seru Giran” (try to find the live versions of this last one. It is the first album and has the same name as the band))
If you listen to Garcia’s second band “La máquina de hacer pájaros” it will blow up your mind. And “Sui Generis” (the first one) has three albums. I recommend you to start by the second, not because the first was bad, but maybe because of the sound of it, it’s kinda ‘distorted’ or ‘lack of quality’ compared to the other albums (not the songs which are marvelous).
After Seru Giran, you have Charly’s solo career which is incredible. His first four albums are impecable. And if you go on listening to his next albums, you’ll get the notion of what kind of absolute genius you’re dealing with. Trust me, this man is UNBELIEVABLE.
