Great looking cards Rick! Enjoyed the story about Vander Meer! Thanks for sharing!
I was just looking at an Indian Bob example today! Beautiful cards Rick.
Thanks Alex. I got lucky on the Indian Bob. Its a nice card.
I love that Johnson card, the colors are striking. I just picked that up a few months ago.
But you are "almost there" indeed. Good luck closing the deal Rick!
Thanks Dan. Getting close. That Bob Johnson card is a great card.
Wow! These are a beatiful cards Rick!!
Rick, you're almost there, you can see the finish line! That's a beautiful Bob Johnson card. I don't think people realize the player he was. Unfortunate he missed out on playing for the great A's teams prior to his arrival. He pretty much played on teams near the bottom of the standings. Nice looking Vander Meer. Too bad his performance dropped after his military service. He led the league in Ks 3 years in a row prior to that. I'm sure he's regarded as being better than what we see him, some collectors are just HOF or bust, which is unfortunate. Hope things are well Rick!
Thanks Sammy. The thing I have enjoyed the most regarding building this set is I have learned so much about guys I never really knew about. Indian Bob Johnson had a very good career. He just showed up as the A's were getting bad, but he had a very nice car. Always appreciate you watching, Sammy!
Hey Rick, I feel like I am in the know because I got the sneak peak. I like seeing that trio of PlayBall beauties. The finish line is getting closer and closer. I think you’re playing it right. You want to get it done but you’re showing some restraint.
I love the image with the field in the background. Such nice colors too.
Thanks Terry! You re getting the sneak peek so this isn't as fun for you! hahaha. The Vander Meer is a great card. The only card of his I'll probably ever own in my collection. Thanks for watching, my friend!
Congrats Rick! Yes the overpaying for the last few cards is a real thing. I know I did it for probably the last 5 Topps All American 1955 I needed and compromised on the grade I wanted as well for at least some of them. Good luck the rest of the way.
Chris, yeah the overpaying and the wanting to finish right way can definitely take over, but I know in the end it'll be worth it. Do you have a video of the 1955 Topps All American? Would love to see it. Thanks for watching!
Very nice Vander Meer. Never heard him called Vandy instead of Johnny though. Interesting that his nickname would be on the card. Does this mean I might be in attendance at the card show when you complete your set? That would be cool.
Yeah, Mike, I never heard him referred to as Vandy. Maybe had we been kids in 1940 we would have called him that? hahaha. I don't know if you'll be in attendance when I finish. if I were looking for a Ted Williams or Joe D card, maybe! You'll have to keep watching or wait until I see you at the show to find out. LOL.
Nice Rick..question, im not a registry guy but wanted to know, can you register the set without completing it, or does it need to be comllete to register it?Well done, look forwatd to seeing the completion.
Thanks Mike. I can still register the set with PSA. It's currently in there under the handle "Rickac99". The one thing I can't do is buy a SGC or BVG card or it won't count for the registry. I am REALLY looking forward to seeing you finish that 1949 Bowman set. That is a set I'vw grown to love the past couple of years. Looking forward to see your journey end too!
Good to know, im down to 7 or 8 cards but mucho donairo is required, so its slowing down some, but loving it for sure...cheers!!
Very nice find Rick. Congrats, you are very, very close to completing this '41 set.
I am getting close. Thanks so much for watching!
