There is simply no other entertainer in history who has shared this much spotlight with all the people who worked with them, and kept this bond decades later. Janet has taken the time at the end of every single show on every single tour to stop and introduce/feature her dancers and her band individually by name. That's a humble, generous person of the highest order.
That’s why she’s the QUEEN
AGREED!!!
These were the dopest dancers for with Janet! Tina Landon is a beast. These dancers stayed lit! 🔥♥️ They all look good!
YES!!! Couldn't agree more.
KELLY KONO aged like FINE WINE.
My favorite dancer 💃
I loved your discussion of the 1993 MTV VMA performance, but Janet was the show's closer, not the opener. To me, that was even a bigger deal, because she was the last impression of a show that had some iconic performances, and she walked away the biggest highlight of the night.
Janet closed the 1993 VMAs. Madonna opened it.
I know. how did they all forget?
Tina Landon's iconic choreography is a cut above the Now Generation choreography, which all just looks the same. Back then, all the choreography always look unique to each song, and the moves become ICONIC.
Nothing of them now stuff is as Iconic as them back then.
Paula Abdul, Barry Lather, Anthony Thomas, Tina Landon, Shawnette Heard. Janet's albums with THESE choreographers attached to them WERE THE ONES THAT BECAME ICONIC, till this very day.
Lol Shawnette is funny af
What I really like about Janet dancers they get a career and opportunities afterwards they’re done working with Janet
Janet made her dancers shine. She is the only artist in which I know the names of her dancers.
I strongly agree with you!!
Michael did that first. Britney followed after and I knew the Spice Girls dancers names.
@@sunnydennison3302 I somewhat disagree Sunny. We probably knew Michael and Britney's choreographers and maybe a few of her dancers. However, Janet really spotlighted her dancers on every project even giving them pet names that we still know.
In addition, I can't recall besides the Thiller project that we got to know some of Michael's dancers. Janet made it point to do interviews with her dancers, especially during the Janet album.
@@honeyc Agree to disagree. :) Michael had specials, so I knew his dancers from the Bad tour and Dangerous tour.
KELLY & SHAWNETTE WAS OFF THE CHAIN DANCING BEHIND JANET IN VMAS 2000!! THAT WAS AN ALL TIME KICK ASS PERFORMANCE OF DOESNT REALLY MATTER

Jimmy is so humble. He took and back seat 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙣𝙟𝙤𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮. 𝙇𝙚𝙩'𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨
Can this get even better? I grew up in this era and know all of these dancers and followed their career ever since. They really created a familiarity where each dancer became known. You never appreciate the significance of a moment until it becomes a memory. I hope we see an official release of the Hollywood performance where she introduced all her previous tour dancers.
only if Janet popped up lol
Jimmy’s summary made me cry! We really are apart of the rhythm nation. 4everever!!
Utterly fantastic. I feel like there is just a really big “family” of us fans out there that have always been DEEPLY connected to Janet as an artist, along with her entire creative team, especially this crew! It’s unexplainable in a way. I’ve been die-hard since 4th grade and I’m 42 now! And I was 19 and struggling with my sexuality right when The Velvet Rope dropped. Everything about it - the lyrics, the sonic vibe (thanks Jimmy and Terry) was just...perfect for that moment in my life. Thanks all! Oh - just on a side note, I think Madonna opened the ‘93 VMA’s and Janet closed it. 😉
Something about Janets original crew 1986-1997. Some of the dancers since then have had their shining moments but something magical about her original crews. Kelly Kono was a beast on the IF opener from Cincinnati in 1993. That girl was on fire in that concert. Nikki Pantenberg was my favorite from Velvet Rope era then Tyce Diorio.
Facts
I loved every second of this interview! I made sure to attend EVERY Chicago Janet concert from a teen (Rhythm Nation) until her last tour date here a couple years ago, so these faces are so familiar to me. I loved Janet and the rapport she had with her dancers!! This interview makes me want to break out the Velvet Rope DVD and watch it for old time's sake!
Thank you for watching!
Your in Chicago? Maybe I will meet u on Janet's next tour?
OMG this is everything to the Janfam!!!

My favourite dancers from the Janet tour and Velvet Rope tour ❤️
Thank you for watching!
Yessss the legends of dance are in the building!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
happy 20 Anniversary to the amazing All for you album 😍
Thank goodness for CZcams we can rewatch Janet's opening act on MTV Awards. As a kid I remember we caught wind of it in SMASH HITS magazine in Fiji, and had to ask my cousins in Australia to look out and record the replay on TV. The joys of growing up in the 90s...Awesome interview Kelly.
Thank you so much Kelly.. you deserve an award.. for this. My favorite dancers.. the fab 4.. in which they are..the earth signs of the zodiac that’s why the magic was there & still is .. I was hoping the interview could have went on & on & on... lol But thanks for keeping this going & keeping it Alive.. ❤️❤️❤️..!!!!!!!!
Yaaaaas this is what I've been waiting for. Jesus can take me.... Well after I've watched it all you can 🙂
😂
E-P-I-C. interview! I was @ the "janet" tour for New Yrs. Eve. Janet & the kids set Madison Square Garden on Fiyaaaah!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for watching!
I really enjoyed this. Took me back to that time. Thank you. I got my dancing start through janet and the control song/album. I met Janet on the RN tour because I made a music video to The Knowledge and Rene took it to her and she wanted to meet me after watching it. That was soooo amazing. I met Tina on the RN tour. And then chatted w her abs the other RN tour and other tour dancers. Man, those times were the best. Traveled up and down the east coast to catch a janet show whenever I could. Rene always gave me front row tickets. What an amazing time travel back to those awesome days and times. Thank you again. Wow the memories. ❤️❤️
I wish I could like this 700 times! Kelly, you make us (fans of Janet) feel seen - you ask all of the right questions 😊🤗

I just found this interview and what a treat! These ladies were my favorite group of Janet dancers and it's great seeing them together again. And Jimmy Jam; awesome!! They all have great chemistry.

yessss Kellllyy😭😭😭😭😭
I was here for the whole interview. Velvet Rope was my first concert and it was a huge eye-opener. So many things I learnt in this interview. I live for the process of creating. So insightful.
Wow! Great stuff Kelly! Tina, Shawnette, Kelly and Nikki... So good to see you Ladies! I always talk about how much I fell in love with choreography just watching you ladies during the janet tour! ...even more so than when I toured with Michael!!! Love You all!!
Hey Romeo! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment :)
What a great time for them but for us as fans as well !!! Janet era was a great time to experience!! Janet was all over the place. ❤
It sure was! 🙌
This was great Kelly. I wish u had of asked about the Doesn't Really Matter Video, choreography. Kelly K. was in that video, & Kelly K. completed the All For You Tour as well where as that was the end for Shawn & Tina. Kelly loves The Velvet Rope, so do I but Rhythm Nation was the start, the Janet tour was where I saw how close Janet was with her dancers which can be seen in her Because of Love video,, and TVR was magic! I also wish K. Alexander would have asked about the tattoo that Tina and Janet have 2gether!
So glad we’re able to see this
AWESOME show!!!! Really cool hearing the beginnings and the behind the stage stories and stuff! really love the Janet. Tour era the most also the Velvet Rope era too. but for me the Janet. album and Tour was the most amazing tour of Janet's tour hands down her best EVER to date! and I so wish it would be released on Bluray & DVD ASAP! so the dancers were like family to me they were engaging and personal with Janet fans so much that if you went to the concert more than once some of the dancers would remember your name and really made a impact on myself and some fans so that took it to another level of excitement and amazement. not to mention the opening of the show was a climbing excitement of hysteria to the climax part of the show starting and the explosion of the first beat of the opening number "IF" was just EVERYTHING! then seeing all of "the family" on stage the dancers made the show experience even astronomically sensational!
this is the tour and the Best tour of Janet Jackson and is one of my top 3 concert tours of all time! the show was tight and the staging and lighting was through the roof BRILLIANT! I would give anything to relive this amazing time in history! #RELEASEtheJANETworldTOURonDVD&bluRAY
the stars aligned when this group of lovely beautiful and talented women joined janet on her videos and tours. (Including J-LO). Since then i haven't seen a collective dynamic this special and unique. I love these women!!

these are the quintet essential Creme de la creme dancers of our lives and of all time! and this is a must to acknowledge and is a must to say and a must to credit and honor the Amazing talented choreographer TINA LANDON!!! TINA ! its you that the concepts and visions for each project to come to life in many ICONIC BRILLIANT dance pieces that TINA made come to life and is and will be forever be with us in a time capsule of the most precious time in our lives and many many others lives that recognize the genius behind it all! and it's TINA LANDON and the many many crews of dancers over the years that are also responsible for the "come to life" concepts and vision boards of the projects they worked on ! so thank you Tina & Dancers here on the panel and not here...to all JANET JACKSON DANCERS YOU ARE THE DREAM AND MAY THE DREAM AND JOURNEY CONTINUE FOR YOU ALL! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I needed this today ❤️ you’re a great interviewer Kelly, and I really enjoy your videos. To have all these legends together on one screen - just wow! I saw the Velvet Rope Tour in Wellington, NZ (my first live concert I ever went to) and loved every second of it. It still brings me joy all these years later 🥰
Thank you!
The Velvet rope tour was my very first concert too!! Great memories!!
I always wanted to know why did shawnette leave the all for you tour. We heard some things but want to know what really happened.
WOW every show was recorded and they got to watch the shows on the bus! I would do anything for a few specific shows to watch that were so great cause some nights were better than others!
Good interview Kelly love the reunion with the girls and jimmy.. This was so fun to see and witness. I was hoping for some all for you era questions but I guess since Nicki, and tina wasnt involved in that era you didn't asked.
This was such a treat. Thank you!

Amazing....
Janet Jackson crews!!💕💕
Simply AMAZING!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😀😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😃
dream team! only one missing from the dream team is Rene & Terry, and of course Janet. how fabulous!
The military precision and fierceness of the dance choreography in Janet's music videos is so inspiring and uplifting!! ❤🕺🏽 She's definitely the blueprint for many female musical artists who came after her. It must have been so very intimidating for someone to audition to be a back-up dancer for Janet or Michael Jackson because, unlike with other singers / entertainers, you know these megastars can dance as good as or even better than you. 😀Not to mention the very high standard I suspect that Janet and Michael demand(ed) from their fellow stage performers.
Thank you for taking the time to write a note :) Janet is the blueprint.
I don't know how I feel about this....I met Jimmy in 89...I met most of the dancers on her in 96.....I am just happy to see this
Thank you for watching!
I hope there will be more videos for the "All For You" era. Next week will be the 20th anniversary for the "All For You" album.
Today is the 20th anniversary of the release.
Thank you so so much Kelly for this interview. I've been a Janet fan forever and a day and back again. And I AAAAAHDOOOOORE Tina and the Kids. I miss them so so much. Nikki is so adorable, but I digress. 🙂🙂 And thank you for asking these questions because I've always wanted to know. I could've sworn though, Janet and the kids closed the mtv awards..was that the year Christian Slater hosted? I thought she closed, or else that's what they showed in Maryland (where I'm from). I could hang out with all of them FOREVER. Just shooting the sh*t and drinking dr. pepper or something and vibin'... You are forever awesome. Thank you and sending hugs to you. I wish it was the 90s again..
Hi Joely! Thank you for taking the time to write such a great message. I hope you have seen the new video I just uploaded on our channel, it's got the title NEW SHOW. Nikki's dogs be gettin they freak on LOL 54:43
JANET JACKSON IS THE 🐐 GOAT ……..PERIOD
Kelly can you ask the Janet dancers next time about specific tv shows? (I.E. TOTP "Got til it's Gone" did they just have to put on the clothes or did they know they were wearing velvet)....
For the tours (Whimsical medley- Did they get to design their costumes or choose which of the choice drawings they wanted, or were they put in the costumes).
If you choreographed how did you jump in to help choreograph?
Do you stay for the i.e. mtv awards in the audience or do you just do the show and then leave right after?
How are you picked for music videos? I still don't know which dancers were all in "Go Deep" video....
how come we only saw "If" with the TTWLG/If Medley on mtv? Did you perform it elsewhere as promo? Or only on tour?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
🖖🏾🖤
Will you be uploading this interview to the Apple podcast? it is not there.
Hopefully in the new year!
These are the really the kids.
I don't know why Kelly Alexander asked Jimmy a question only to divert back to Tina
I wanted to hear what he has to say
Janet 🤚 ❤️ 🪧
Is there a link for the Tina doc?
There's no Tina doc to our knowledge, you can watch our in-depth interviews with Tina on our channel, there's several of them.
I think she meant Tina Turner doc
They closed the MTV awards... they didn't open the show.
They didnt open the act on VMA 1993, they were the last act. How did they all forget?
I WANT TO KNOW why only certain ppl was in the video, "Go Deep" Like Tina,Kelly and Nikki wasn't in it! which is weird!
Thank you for watching Kristin!
Imagine if Jennifer Lopez made an appearance on here 💕💕💕💕
Why would she? She made an appearance in one video....
Make appearances for what?!? These 4 dancers were family. They had a strong connection with Janet and her fans and these dancers clearly didn’t have that when JLo was with them.
@@fredaydaybae8450 she didn’t make an appearance, she was a hired dancer by Janet at the time.
@@rbyerly ok...and? She was the hired help, not family
