My God, you are both sweet. The world, which is going mad, may find a thin pace towards peace and love, thanks to you, guys. Tears and shivers from France.
I've always loved this song. I don't know why, but it gives me greater pleasure to see it covered so beautifully than to put the original on again, which I've listened to many times. Gorgeous rendition.
In 64 I lived on Bleeker st. ( Artist in Residence) Worked at the Figaro Cafe and cleaned the Gaslight Cafes floors more time than Dylan sang there.. Ran out for Old Turkey for Phil Oaks. Played my songs in Gerdes Folk City saw all the Hoy Poy Sunhose Hendrix Grateful Dead Santana . Heard Thirsty Boots as it was put together by Eric Anderson.
Wow! What a great time you must have had in those days amonst so many great, great folk artists! I have listened to and had albums of all those folk artists. Do you remember by any chance a Canadian folk artist named Bonnie Dobson that may have played those clubs back in the early and mid 1960's?
Nice job Gentlemen! I don't think people really understand the difficulty singing that style of music with those kind of harmonies. You guys hit every note and every syllable perfectly. Nice job!!
Considering that Pail Simon and Art Garfunkel are both 79 years of age (and both will be 80 before year end), we're very lucky to have you two. 🙂 This may not be Paul Simon's best song, but I think it's the most poetic lyrics he ever wrote and I love the Simon and Garfunkel songs that are sung in harmony all the way through, like this and Wednesday Morning, 3 AM.
Excellent work you are doing, Gentlemen. This type of music was once very popular. It brought people together. I believe these songs from the folk rock Era, still have the ability to help people heal from emotional and spiritual pain in our modern era
Wow you brought tears to these old eyes again . Simon and Garfunkle couldnt be more pleased. Well thats what this old man thinks. Beautiful just beatiful
Fog's rollin' in off the East River bank Like a shroud it covers Bleecker Street Fills the alleys where men sleep Hides the shepherd from the sheep Voices leaking from a sad cafe Smiling faces try to understand I saw a shadow touch a shadow's hand On Bleecker Street A poet reads his crooked rhyme Holy, holy is his sacrament Thirty dollars pays your rent On Bleecker Street I heard a church bell softly chime In a melody sustaining It's a long road to Canaan On Bleecker Street Bleecker Street
These guys are beyond awesome. True an absolute musicians. Most of they're stuff is so awesome it made tears well up.....that's what music is supposed to do.
I consider myself a s&g fan but I don’t remember this one. Absolutely beautiful guys. Thank you so much for posting. You’re getting me through a tough day.
Taylor Bloom do you listen to more modern music too? Feel like you could smash “level of concern” by twenty one pilots. They’re unbelievably talented and creative, think the song would suit you
Thank you for this Song, very strong guys. Its rather seldom that there are a cover from this fine song. I believe its at the first Album from S & G. They are my Favorites already so long long time. Thanks again and stay well.
Fun fact:. On more than one occasion, both the NYC Department of Transportation and the MTA have erected signs misspelling "Bleecker Street" as "Bleeker Street". Fortunately, neither has ever misspelled it "Bleaker Street". It's astonishing to me that the land on which Bleecker Street was originally built was part of the Bleecker family farm until 1808, when Anthony Lispenard Bleecker deeded a strip of land from the farm to the City. Given that Manhattan is pretty.much fully developed up to the George Washington Bridge (except Central Park, of course), I'm surprised there were still farms that recently in what's now the East Village.
Your show in DC was the last thing we saw before the big shut downs. We actually ended up fishing one of the big marquee posters out of the trash at the theater and now it hangs in my music room.
Hey guys. I recently discovered you both. I absolutely love you. Does Ben have a youtube channel also? Everything you do is amazing. I love the harmonies so much. There's an amazing synergy between yee just like Simon and garfunkel. You guys are going to be superstars, no doubt about it!!
I used to live on Bleecker Street. This song might and might not have influenced my decision to rent that apartment rather than the other one that wasn't a fifth floor walkup.
My God, you are both sweet. The world, which is going mad, may find a thin pace towards peace and love, thanks to you, guys. Tears and shivers from France.
Good to see your still recording with Garfunkel.
Hahaha

god this is good and so great to see young people discovering the old classic work of Simon and Garfunkel.
I've always loved this song. I don't know why, but it gives me greater pleasure to see it covered so beautifully than to put the original on again, which I've listened to many times. Gorgeous rendition.
I had the same reaction. For me, it's because it means the song continues to live on through two great musicians.

Oh my god! You are exactly S&G.
I think Paul Simon is happy to hear this arrangement.
