    Love the messages. They are so important: 1) not to judge your "success" in life by what other people think, weather people from the Chasidic community or from society at large, 2) what Ruchy pointed out not to live your life as a reaction to and to prove anything to anyone, and 3) what Libby said, "everyone who leaves and retains even a semblance of sanity deserves a medal." (Not to imply that leaving is always the best choice for everyone. It isn't.)

      By the way, coming from another fundamentalist background, can you relate to a lot of what Ex Hasidic people experience?

      @@fundietofrei4460 to a certain extent I can relate. I recognise the way of thinking: there is only one truth, and we have it. Critical thinking is bad or a sin..
      But I think especially the social isolation in my youth was much less than in the hasidic community, especially for women.

    I think the Chareidi mindset is like this: religion=spirituality=future for soul=this world is just a path to the great afterlife. If you abandoned religion it means you chose materialism over spirituality. So now they expect you to prove that your chosen materialistic life was better than the spirituality life.

      That is an interesting take, as if to say, oilem haba you already lost, why aren't you at least steeped in (their definition of) oilem hazeh?

    • @chayukykenig3055
      @chayukykenig3055 Před rokem +2

      @@fundietofrei4460 it goes way beyond this. It’s more like: we and only we own the recipe for the true and correct life one should live. You clearly chose the opposite path. Prove us that yours is so good that it is worth leaving our path, or else why did you leave?

    Very important conversation. Not to generalize though, I have to say that my father, very selflessly helped me out financially in difficult times even though he was hurting about my non religious choice. It is something I will always appreciate but I know not everyone is so lucky

    • @fundietofrei4460
      @fundietofrei4460  Před rokem +1

      A select few are fortunate in that regard. I'm sure the financial support was helpful, but I'm curious if you wish to share- did you feel more guilty, compromised or stressed because of it?

    • @chayukykenig3055
      @chayukykenig3055 Před rokem +1

      @@fundietofrei4460 omg that’s an excellent point. I know my father helped me because he is such a good selfless person and always help us but a) yes I felt guilty or uncomfortable that he is helping while I’m not religious and b) I couldn’t help myself thinking if in the back of his mind he is ‘investing’ in me so that I may go back. The chareidy ‘modern’ approach to OTD ppl is that if they shower us with love and support, we will return. It’s an investment

      @@fundietofrei4460 I have no doubt you are absolutely burned out due to how your former religion shaves off the hair of a bride at her lovely wedding, albeit sometimes, or most of the time, planned by the parents and/or priest. I was shocked to learn of this. But this religion is not of God. It is my prayer for you to eventually heal by the grace of our Holy Heavenly Father, as He loves you so much, and is proud of you for escaping this horrific religion, which will soon be banished from our earth. I am 64, so speaking to you as your Mother, since I have daughters your age.
