  • The simple solution to solve fashion waste - as praised by Vogue UK
What would our closets tell us if they could speak?
    • Perhaps that in the UK alone, our wardrobes hold 1.6 billion items of unworn clothes
    • We wear 20% of our wardrobes only on average
    • This means that 80% of our clothes are left unworn in our closets!
    What’s more?
    • The average item of clothing is only worn 10 times before being discarded
    • 360k tonnes of reusable clothes are dumped in landfill each year in the UK
    • This means that we are discarding clothes that someone else could make use of
In this week’s podcast episode, I sit with Sol Escobar, the Founder of Give Your Best, to discuss a solution that is not only simple but that has also the power to truly change the lives of a very large part of the population.
In this conversation, Sol tells us a very little known fact:
An estimated 5.5 million adults (a staggering 13% of the population) are currently unable to afford the clothes that make everyday life - such as applying for interviews, going to work, school, or sometimes even just leaving the house - possible.
Despite the fact that we send so many garments to landfill every year, clothing poverty remains a huge issue in the UK.
Sol explains to us how she is tackling this issue with the award-winning free clothing platform she has created in support of women & children who are refugees, seeking asylum, victims of trafficking, domestic violence, or destitute.
