  • For the last show of the 2014 tour welcome back into Scott Rockenfield's office for a drum pounding session of "Eyes of a Stranger" & "Empire" at the Snoqualmie Ballroom 12.5.14. As the last video of the year I added some short behind the scene bonus clips that will make ya laugh your head off as to the fun back in this band. Watch poor Fozzy & the drumstick tossing aftermath and the comical Todd backstage. Oh how can I forget Scott's brother surprising even me during "Eyes of a Stranger", you won't miss it ha ha!! Hope you enjoy and hope to bring you lots more of these rare clips from the Ryche road in 2015! www.Queensryche...

Such a talented crisp and clean player. His ghosting is incredible.

After all these years listening to this song I was surprised how many little snare rolls Scott throws in.

braincrisp1 you never hear them out front!!! the gates are so tight on the board that you never hear em...when I saw this video I was stunned to hear and see how many ghost notes he is playing, now maybe on the albums he may not have but it directly works in his playing and is so integral in the way he plays and where he puts them then it almost sounds like they're supposed to be there and that just the final mixes never had them there

I do not know where did you hear the rolls.

Criminally underrated drummer. People always talk about how important DeGarmo and Tate was to QR but forget about Scott. He was a huge part of their sound with his unique style. Sad to see he’s not in the band anymore.

What makes Rockenfield my favorite drummer is that he has an ability to play these drum lines that are as complicated as any other progressive rock drummer yet the lines are so rounded in their feel that if you stop concentrating on his intricacies you feel as if he’s just playing a normal standard beat. I really find this is unique to him and him alone. For me that kind of playing is the most pleasurable to listen to and it’s quite the anomaly.

On "Eyes", it's a perfect drum arrangement to a perfect song! BTW, Back in the 80's, Scott was not underated. He was a very respected drummer.

He and Queensryche were the starting point for me into prog. I didn’t know about them till after Empire had been out for 2 years. In 1992 as a high school freshman I got my first real drum kit and it had to be a Tama kit in sugar white along with Paiste cymbals! All these years later he’s still one of my top 3 drummers!

Love getting to see this point of view. I'm a drummer myself (not near this level) I've studied him like a religion. He, as far as drummers go, is my God

His mother had it the garage for like 25 years . Ended up giving it away to a guy in Washington state. There is a video of the kit here on y tube . The snare sold on eBay for like a grand or something......crazy.

***** that would be a cool video to see...I only know of the video where donn bennet is selling his black ludwig kit and Scott and Don are standing in front of it talking about the early tours...but it would be great to see the white Tama...and to bad they sold the snare and separated it

I’m a drummer and i an a nobody who never made it famous like Scott. I was always impressed by Scott. One of my faves. I’m shocked at how jazzy he plays Empire. I’m sure the front of house sound doesn’t pick up the subtleties like this behind the kit mic did. There is no telling how many shows Scott has played. I can’t help but feel that he is bored here. He plays it perfect though. I absolutely mean no disrespect or anything critical. Oh, and I’m shocked at how tight and muted his snare is here. But, it sounds amazing. I’m sure the front of house is wet with reverb. Come back Scott!

Highly doubtful, he would need the other instruments in his ear. This sounds like a dry mix off either a separate mixer for the drums only or a drums only group of channels off the main board. This seems like the former method.

I was lucky enough to see them open for Metallica on the And Justice for All Tour in LR at Barton , they played the whole Operation Mindcrime album while me and my friends were on a heavy shroom journey, what a night, what a night indeed, I chained smoked about two packs of cigarettes that night, and the whole place was filled with pot smoke so thick you could see the cloud, it smelled so good in there, this was back when you could smoke all the pot you wanted to without getting busted by the cops patrolling around the halls, I think I remember even seeing Sweet Connie (yes Grand Funk Connie) hanging out, come to think about it, I seen a bunch of shit that night.
