At age thirteen Bethany Hamilton was a rising surfing star. From her home in Hawaii she had everyday access to some of the world's best waves and basked in the warmth of a loving family. But her tranquil beach surf life was shattered one morning when a shark completely bit off her arm. Only the immediate help of her friends, heroic work by doctors and an overwhelming peace kept her alive in the critical moments after the attack. That fact that she survived was a miracle.
What is one to do when your outward passion and purpose in life is seemingly taken away? Bethany looked inward to her relationship with Jesus, who renewed her spirit while also restoring her surfing ability, to even greater heights. Her story today is retold in the movie SOUL SURFER and continues to inspire others to not give up on themselves..and God.

My nine year old daughter and i are reading the book right now. As a surfer, and as a Christian, all i can say is, God is great and Bethany is an amazing child of God and surfer!!! For His glory!!!

She is a brave lady who did something she loved after a horrible accident! I could have never got back on a surfboard and did what she did, I would be scared to do it again!! She is a brave, talented, amazing, and my idol. I seen her movie soul suffer, it is an amazing move it made me cry ☺, and sad all at once. Bethany u are my number one idol. I love u as a person!!
it's great that you admire her however God should be the only one who is our "idol"...outside of that, it is idolatry.
I believe so confidently in God and his amazing power and plan! It here is nothing that can disprove God because God is so real and he is the truth the way and the light!
I like I am second. My youth minister introduced this stuff to my youth group and I like the stories each person has. Bethany Hamilton is an inspiration to me. She had a terrible accident happen when she was 13 years old and turned it into a blessing for her and for others to see. You can tell God is a live and well look at Bethany as an example.

WOW! My 12 year old daughter wants to be a professional surfer. We have been praying for her every day and praying that God would be glorified through her surfing. She was inspired by your movie when she was about 10 years old. She reads her bible every day, loves God and wants to be a surfer missionary! Your witness is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing.

What a beautiful young lady. Such a role model for any young girls who have those crazy feelings of inadequacy. Putting God first has always been her way, not just because He chose to spare her life, but because He gave her life from the beginning.

I believe in God because I experienced Him for myself and the fact that The Bible confirms what God has told me personally is a bonus. The Bible was written by men but it was ordained by God and anything that he ordained, even though it was presented my man, it is so
well said, i believe God is a gentleman. He doesn't dictate or forcefully make us do things as puppets. he has given us free will to do as we please but he sent his son to die on a cross as a spotless lamb and that is something worth living for. We do condemn ourselves to Hell by life actions.

@FlatusOhlfart This is her testimony not yours and its her experience not yours so until you have an experience with God you will never really understand God or why people believe in him. If you're really glad that Bethany made it through the horrible experience then you would have just said that but you just wanted to be negative towards what she believes in.
I just want to love Him! that's her secret ;) except it's not a secret! she puts Jesus on display- AND gives God the glory! Amen little sister. Amen.
