Azang ly Middle path is only about how to see the ultimate true except that nothing else . so plz don't use middle path. Middle path is only and only about how to look at the ultimate truth . And during these days all people's first ask to every monk ,and every normal people what you want to have . so all we have always option what we want to have in everywhere .And buddha said if animals naturally die than we can have it but if we thought now he or she is old so better to kill is completely wrong . because again it's come to killing someone means harming someone. which is not Buddhism philosophy . yes if naturaly die than we can give our body or others. but if your saying we should kill people's before naturaly die or before because old it's really bad joke. All we know when our parents getting old we should take care of them with Very carefully .ok one Question for you ly . Question is Are you going to kill your father before he is getting very old or you will take care of them until they naturally die or pass away. sir ly juju what happened to you !!!!?

Buddha has taught non violence extensively and abstaining from eating meat promotes non violence and compassion.
As a Buddhist we should try our best to abstain from consuming meat as it involves killing of an animal and killing directly/indirectly is part of non virtuous deeds.
Our respected Eminent Rimpocheys has been advocating not to consuming meat as unlike yesteryears, we now have more choices of foods....
May all living being be happy

    Man ahead of his time.
Very few has such a courage to express open in public these deep naked truth this universal law of nature. Even many Guru's of our time refrain these topics.
But your Unhesitant to face obvious negative remarks and personal attacks by different mental dispositions and yet you skillfully manage to handle the most sensitive and complicated topics in a beautiful way to deliver the essence of Buddhist philosophy.
Since you Sonam Wangchuk ly requested for public opinion on meaningful alternative for disposal of the dead body.
Here's my view and desire : I believe in 21st C with all the possibilities and technology Human Organ donation is the most practical method. Some countries follow such practices of preservation and donating organs mandatoryly.
No doubt Sky burial is a noble practice but was only relevant in ancient times I feel.

Exactly...human psychology works like that way, like if you are prohibited and restricted from doing certain things, you feel like doing that. If you are free to choose, you will comfortably avoid thing which you feel not very nice to do. And easily choose which you think better for your health and being.....❤❤🎉🎉❤

I really appreciate the viewpoint of yours Kaa ley that the 'shul' perspective of meat & their byproducts doesn't make sense in today's world since we're bound to eat in different places, homes, and restaurants & cafes where we can't verify if there's 'shul' or not... As long as one haven't taken some vows regarding it which is a different story!
I personally don't follow the purity practice while being a vegan since 5+ years. It is impractical and also causes more complications i feel!
But also, it is not acceptable saying the lack of options should permit one to have meat or their byproducts. We can surely arrange some alternative meals while not annoying the host or the family & we won't die if we skip or have less meals for one time or for a day.. i think, we can arrange or let them know by the next day which will educate them or make an awareness to others too.. it may inspire some people also if we see the brighter side of it. Isn't it? 🤔🥲
And, minimising the amount of meat is also a great way surely but it is questionable too! 🧐 Minimising the type of meats can surely make a difference individually and to the animals but the amount?!
Lemme explain with this illustration.. if someone says, I'll have only a lil' bit of meat 🍖, would the cow or that animal will say.. "sure, I'll be just a lil' or half dead for you?!"
One life 🧬 is one complete life.. it can't be divided into small pies like a pizza 🍕 right?
That's why, it is ethically wrong but it might be environmentally & health-wise better.
Another point, you're talking a lot about the meat and vegetarianism while avoid talking about dairy, egg, and other byproducts which are actually in the chart you're using as great contributors of GHG emissions too just after the meat, especially beef 🍖!
It is said that vegetarianism is a barrier to animal liberation and rights. And, welfarist's approach will never succeed as we keep justifying the act of cruelty & atrocities by saying there's a humane way to do the dirty jobs?!
The abolitionist's approach is way more successful and appreciable it seems.. believe it or not, the animal rights organisations were mostly welfarists which are mostly turning towards abolitionism gradually since people have the ability to know and act now with alternative choices in majority of places 🤔
I personally prefer abolitionist view for the innocent animals while not being too harsh to friends and people in general. The goal must be to stop the speciesism in the end but the gradual progress is the healthiest surely than a radical change or a rapid transition which could be weak and unstable.
Also, you're saying organic meat or grass-fed meat is more better choice which i found the opposite?! 🤨
    Check this out:
Why Meat is The Best Worst Thing in the World
    czcams.com/video/NxvQPzrg2Wg/video.htmlsi=my8Jj-ivHJH8hW5Z
And, the story of Buddha's life that you narrated is surely a real story of his time but it is irrelevant to today's modern food system 😕
We must understand the vast & complicated food politics going around the globe 🌍 by which we're brainwashed since childhood via media and ads knowingly or unknowingly.. We must rethink on what we're taught in our schools & society / family!
It's more towards destructive businesses, funding each other for mutual benefits, and telling lies enough times to sell their products for eternity rather than the Buddha's time of stories nowadays. Isn't it?! 🥹
Regarding the plant's perspective, I've an excerpt to present from my main teacher:
"Some people say that we've already proved that plants, they're living beings. There's incredible research there how the plant they respond to the stimulus in a very intricate way. But it does not prove that they're living beings. At most, they proved that they're living things. This distinction has to be made between living things and living beings. Plants are living things, not living beings. Animals are living things as well as living beings. The difference is that there's consciousness which has the ability to know things and the ability to feel things. This is the difference." .
    .
An extract speech by Geshe Dorji Damdul la
    On: 12.10.2018
    Time: 13:15
    @ Deer Park Institute, Bir-Himachal
Regarding the death & generosity of our own body:
It is surely nice and worth trying to do organ donations before and after death !
But, donating or offering the whole body for other beings before natural death is really questionable! Isn't it? 🧐
It is surely justifiable to giveaway the body to other creatures after one's natural death but offering it before with other methods is a bit of too much or going to the extreme as it will hardly make a difference i feel while the weight of the sacrifice is weighing more in the cost and complexity aspects..
Like, a hungry person or a creature who's starving acutely would appreciate even a pound of meat or any meal.. the offering must not to satisfy one's greed but to satisfy one's need. Isn't it?
Therefore, one must appreciate the offering even if it's a skinny bone or just a half body.. full healthy body shouldn't be the preferred generosity; even if one is not active verbally or physically.
Even if one isn't active physically or verbally, one can do great benefits / merits / profound practices by mental activities if one is really a great practitioner or a Bodhisattva 🥹🙏🏻
It shouldn't be taken as an excuse to justify the killing of an old animal's life 🧬 and, how can we ask for permission or know if that animal wanna die or to live more and die naturally. It's his / her own choice as much as we choose our own ways.
The karmic cycles are so sophisticated and complex that the projection of a karma and the completion of a karma can vary a lot from a fraction of a second to an eons of times or hundreds of lifetime. So, it must exhaust in it's own way for any being without much alterations which will have it's own consequences we never know until we're a Buddha ourselves of three times!
Also, taking one's own life is a greater sin than taking another life 🧬 since it is the most precious human life which is worth more than a heavenly birth due to it's ability to know both the goods and and the bads equally.
So, we must live the precious human life 🧬 completely and kindly as much as possible.
Self-immolators are a different story which are more complex than this which needs more discussions and debates i feel 🥺
Thus, it is more about the cause of the sacrifice or offering than the amount of sacrifice which shouldn't matter much!
For example, I'd enjoy and appreciate a small meal offered by someone wholeheartedly and by cutting their own meal more than someone who's offering an ample of meals but the joyous effort is missing!
That is my personal practice in daily mundane life to sacrifice my own comfort and convenience if it is giving someone a good vibe and happiness if needed and if I'm capable of it without burnout cases and without harming myself in the long-run.
Similarly, we must not sacrifice the innocent animals' bodies in advance in the name of "greatest good for the greatest number."
With that, i have a great video recommendation which deals with this complex philosophy of doing goodness for others with what cost behind?!!

More than to be a matter of pride, it may be about the sense of fallibility (going back on the habit) as it may weaken your defenses, just trying to argue on the positive side. I had a teacher who would not drink water from the same cup (tumbler) used by his meat-eating children although it’s yet to be confirmed whether that prohibition was for that particular meal or forever. This meat eating prohibitions are insane. We are probably missing the message in the process.
Sacrifice of animals especially Bullocks, Horses, etc. as the prevalent custom then in India to please the gods, deities etc. was probably the main focus of the Buddha as regards the First Precept (Not to take life). But that is the “Negative Aspect” of the Precept “Not to…” The “Positive Aspect” of the First Precept “What to do instead” is “to save life, to free or spare life, to help to maintain life, to care for the living, etc.” If someone ‘consume meat’ it may not be the end of the ‘First Precept’ for that someone as far as his/her practice of the First Precept is concerned. Still the ‘positive aspect’ i.e. “What to do” instead of ‘Not killing’ remains to be practiced. Mathematically it’s 50%! The ‘Thrust’ or the ‘Emphasis’ on the Negative Aspect of the Precept “Not to..” may be because if your practice of “saving of life, maintaining of life or caring of life” was based on the foundation of non-violence (abstaining from killing) than it could be really meaningful, deep, enduring and productive of excellent karma as you go about practicing the ‘Positive Aspect’ of the Precept. Similarly the other four Precepts could be interpreted in the same way (Negative Aspect followed by the Positive Aspect or the practice of the Negative Aspect becoming the basis for the practice of the Positive Aspect of the respective Precepts)
Interestingly, I myself don't consume meat but I have given birth to children (not literally being a male but becoming the cause of their birth) who are voracious eaters of meat!!! So, in a way I still continue to consume meat through my own becoming (or creation) in the form of my children. Hope, it may help to humble those prideful meat abstainers.
