    Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I czcams.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    The fact that you need a CZcams video to explain how to use a remote control says it all. Make a remote that 90% of people understand and not some cryptic message on a 50 year old tech device.

    I do a lot of user experience design, and this remote is a case study of what not to do. Symbols, weird access to common functions like clock reset, “smart set” that makes everyone feel dumb, and you will even notice, the up arrow is slightly lower than the down arrow on the remote. I hit the wrong one frequently, and it just occurred to me why that is. No backlight? What year is it?

    LOVE my Mitsubishi split unit. HATE the remote! I've bought aftermarket universal remotes that work way better and have 7-day programming . to bad you guys can't make a better remote. Even the guys (5 of them came to install) all agreed the remote is horrible. PLEASE get back to the drawing board. when I move and have to install another unit I would love to see a smarter remotte.

    Thanks for this basic remote control video. Very helpful. One question. What does Dry Mode do? I have mini-splits in our basement, and the humidity creeps up to 60%. Would Dry mode help? Thanks.

    • @KingSolrac
      @KingSolrac Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, so basically dry mode is for when it rains and the room moisture builds up and the "Dry Mode" helps the room from keeping level. Basically think of dry mode as a dehumidifier by removing moisture in the room.

    • @RobertAJonas
      @RobertAJonas Před 4 lety +1

      @@KingSolrac Thanks! And how does it dehumidify? How can it remove moisture from a room? Is it because the mini-split makes the room colder, so it holds less moisture? But if so, where does the moisture actually go?

      @@RobertAJonas I’m no expert, and just found this video to answer some of my own questions ( that shouldn’t need to be answered with a well designed remote control), but I do think I know the answer to your question. The dehumidifier removes water in the same manner the A/C (cooling) mode does. You’ll probably find the water drain hose somewhere near the outside unit. Besides the remotes, I love my 2 units! 👍

  • @BenDMitchell

    If you put the fan on automatic mode, what exactly does that mean? Does it adjust the temperature to what degree I want and automatically go to that and keep it that way? Say I put the fan at 70 and set it to automatic--does that mean that the unit will adjust the room temperature to 70 and keep it that way?

  • @oelarnes
    @oelarnes Před 3 lety

    I need more detailed information about exactly how the remote works because my system is not performing as expected. I have three units controlled with one remote (in a rental, so I had nothing to do with setting this up). Does the remote send the complete state information displayed on the remote to the unit with each button press? Does it send the state information for the controlled function? Or just a mutation? If I have a desired setting across all the functions, how do I adjust all three units to that setting and be confident of the result?
    In particular, in cooling mode, the achieved temperature does not correspond to the displayed temperature on the remote on any of the devices.

    • @maikwho
      @maikwho Před 2 lety

      I’m also here looking for this answer. When I press down to cool and some times it does not register, but the remote does, if I press it again is it telling the unit to cool down one degree, or is it sending the desired temp which is now two degrees cooler as displayed on the remote.

    • @maikwho
      @maikwho Před 2 lety +1

      Discovered the answer myself! I installed the Kumo Cloud which displays the current temp set through the app. I tested my remote by changing it a few degrees without it registering or giving me the beep feedback then the final one I pointed at the unit. The temp displayed on the remote is what it jumped to. So it’s sending the actual number and not just the signal to go up or down each press.

    How do you set the default so the unit comes on after a power surge or power failure? When we are away an the power surges (happens often in our area) the unit will not turn back on and our house is very HOT when we get back home. Supposedly there is a default setting where the unit will come on after a power surge, but so far no technicians can find the setting. HELP!
