  • Since you guys asked so nicely, we put together our iPhone 15 Pro Max versus Pixel 7 Pro camera comparison to show you how the cameras on these smartphones compare. The iPhone 15 Pro Max now has a new 5x telephoto camera, matching what the Pixel 7 Pro got last year. Take a look at these side-by-side photo and video samples and let me know if you prefer the shots from the iPhone 15 Pro Max or the Pixel 7 Pro.

    Pixel 7 Pro had autofocusing issues in this comparison, but considering the price difference between the two, I think it held up against the iPhone 15 Pro Max rather well.

    • @paimog9233
      @paimog9233 Před 10 měsíci +14

      I think pixel 7 did better in most cases than the iphone 15 did. Those not focused shots at night were probably because he tapped the screen and it locked focus as thoses were the only photos that are blurry and not focused. Pixel is sharper and brighter while iphone is fine and contrasty. Also you can see that the pixel has more dynamic range than the iphone specially at those night shots. Pixel 7 won the photo and iphone won the video. Considering the price and which phone has really improved ill go with the pixel and cant wait what the pixel 8 has to offer

    • @phandroid
      @phandroid  Před 10 měsíci +6

      The only autofocus issue was mainly with the 5x zoom when capturing images of close objects. That's only because the focus distance in the Pixel is higher than the iPhone.

      On a budget a definite yes
      Where the iPhone excels is the shutter
      The shutter makes a massive difference in actually get the shot on motion stills
      And the shutter adjustment through light and scene variations during videography
      quite simply sets the iPhone apart
      But on non motion stills

      And the pixel 7 Pro as a budget device - YES ! YES ! AND YES !
      With the devaluation of mobiles versus iPhone value retention
      And all other factors taken into account
      AS A MEDIA DEVICE
      THE iPHONE remains the Victor .
      For battery and power performance ,
      The MacBook Pro remains the Victor .
      Apple truly is an exclusive niche brand based on build quality , truly brilliant performance , and the very best integrated eco system and media platform and third party app integration ,
      Which justified exclusivity truly sets Apple 🍎 apart and above all competition .
      But I 100% recommend the Pixel 7 Pro as a brilliant and justifiable budget device 👍🏻

      I've got the Pixel Pro 6. The problem from version 6 and above the software trying to figure the scene is not consistent and these Google phones will produce garbage photos particularly by over-sharpening them.
      I tested doing portraits with Pixel 6 against an iPhone 14 and the iPhone got it right every time. Out of about 10 photos, my pixel only got two right? That's atrocious. If you've got the money and photography is your thing then go for the iPhone. If you're only into snapshots then go for the Pixel. With the Pixel expected delete a lot of photos, especially when the scene has a lot of detail. It butchers them.

    I love the less saturated colors of the Pixel, as you can always boost the saturation/vibrancy if you want something more vibrant. Its easier than doing the opposite.
    For a more catchy look, however, I would prefer Samsung's colours to those of Apple. The iPhone's warmer tones can sometimes make look a photo yellowish (to my eyes), but it's totally a matter of taste.

    In my perspective pixel 7 pro is shooting more detailed images than 15pro. But only issue is stabilization. iPhone does extremely well but still pixel is way better and captured every tiny detail. Even I am going to buy 15pro. Now I am confused but you know iphone is craze now a days. People judge you now a days by which phone are you holding. I think so 😂

    For me is Pixel better, but not by much and not in every scenario.
    Overall iPhone looks more saturated and tends to be add contrast. It is clearly visible on photos at 1:30. Because of that Pixel looks more like IRL.
    Videos is little better on iPhone.
    Night mode I cant decide, Pixel looks like have focus problem in this scenarios, for ultrawide really prefer iPhone, for standard and telephoto lens Pixel.

    I am really impressed how good Pixel is. This is the latest and the greatest from Iphone and still one year older Pixel is better. Its very close now. Maybe like in picture department Pixel took it 99 to 97. And in video iphone took it like 99 to 97. Very close... but what about the price and the year of manufacture? Thank you for the great review and the time you put in this to make this happend...

    The Pixel photos look mostly sharper and are more true to real world colour so for photos the pixel wins for me, however the iphone 15 pro max makes far better videos having said that you're comparing the latest iphone that's just been released that costs double the price, a better comparison would be the pixel 8 pro when it gets released in about 9 days time

  • @stefw0200

    Pixel 7p pictures are better, night video on iPhone. iPhone sometime oversharpen and overall not only warmer but unfortunately slight green touch. It's of course difficult to know the real colour balance, but as you obviously don't have a greenish beard ...
    From personal experience I know iPhone clouds and sky are also wrong color (too much blue) and overdramatic HDR in clouds since iPhone 11 Pro. Don't like that at all. GCam sometimes used to have a slightly wrong magenta touch but I couldn't see this here at all. So for pics clear winner Pixel. Surprisingly Pixel has more lense flair at night and focus at night (your Portrait shots) often is wrong or you're to near for it. Your Pixel also seems to be inconsistent at night. Some time it's well ahead of iPhone (as expected) but sometime it's completely noisy. Not good.

    I think they look closer than ever before. Both do very well, with some shots looking better on the Pixel and others on the iPhone. I did like the skin tone rendering more in most iPhone shots though. The Pixel sometimes shows more detail, but in other shots it appears the other way around. For video I do think the iPhone generally performs better with smoother transitions between the lenses and not looking over-sharpened like the Pixel does in some cases.
    Edit: I now came to the part with the low-light video, and here the iPhone is clearly better, particularly the ultra-wide in comparison. The Pixel is so grainy, it's pretty much unusable, while the iPhone at least still looks acceptable. For pictures the difference is smaller, but the iPhone still has the edge here in my opinion, producing a little cleaner looking shots.

    • @MacXpert74
      @MacXpert74 Před 10 měsíci

      @2:29 something odd happens with the zoom on the iPhone. It appears that it was just cropping into the main sensor here at 5x instead of switching to the 5x lens. I don't know if this was a software glitch of a user error (zoom to 4,9x instead of 5x maybe?). But that's clearly the reason why this particular shot doesn't look good on the iPhone in comparison to the Pixel.

    • @phandroid
      @phandroid  Před 10 měsíci +1

      can't be user error as we simply tap the 5x zoom button. If you look at all the 5x video zoom comparisons, it always looks better on the pixel 7 Pro. While both phones use the same sensor size, the pixel has 48MP versis 12MP on the iPhone, which means there's a lot more data to work with.

    • @MacXpert74
      @MacXpert74 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@phandroidOkay, a software glitch it must have been then. With your argument that '5x video always looks better on the Pixel 7 pro', I feel this is more opinion based, and I don't fully agree there. I didn't feel this was consistently the case. In some shots I did prefer the Pixel, but not in other ones. Particularly not with low light, as it didn't do so well in general here with all lenses actually. The Pixel also tends to use more artificial sharpening in video mode (not so much in photos), giving a fake sense of 'more detail', but also giving you that typical consumer grade 'smartphone video' look. Apple seems to have toned this down with the iPhone 15 pro compared to the previous one. Also a sensor with more pixels doesn't always guarantee better results, as the pixel size on the sensor then usually gets smaller too. This can also be seen with the Samsung S23 200 mp sensor not always giving sharper results than Apple's 48 mp sensor.

    • @MacXpert74
      @MacXpert74 Před 10 měsíci

      @2:04 If you stop the video here and analyze the image of the 5x lenses, you can see what I mean with 'artificial sharpening' being overdone on the Pixel. At first glance it might seem as if there's more detail in the Pixel image. But when you look more closely at for instance the banner on the building you can see that the text "China's Southern Paradise" has a clearly noticeable sharpening halo around it on the Pixel, but not on the iPhone. This of course translates to the rest of the image too. The actual detail is virtually the same, but the iPhone image looks smoother and more like what you'd get from a professional camera, compared to the over-sharpened image of the Pixel.
