as a librarian I have this urge to crawl through the screen and organize your books, but if you know where things are and you are reading, that's all that matters in the end! I secretly always wanted to live like a wizard surrounded by the many books of my travels. If it makes sense to you, you are winning!
Lol thank you! But I am sorry to do this to you, I understand how hard that must be 😅😅
One more librarian here with the same thoughts!😂 But as a civilian, I love it!🤩
@@TriZlatneKike😅🤝🤝🤝
i love positive people like you
Tbh I actually appreciate seeing your office in the unorganized state that it is because it shows that you actually use the space and read the books that you have on your shelf rather than decorating your office with books to LOOK smart (like some people) lmao. Im 17 and you and your channel really inspire me to read, write and learn to be as smart and aware of my life and the world as I can be.
Man, that's so awesome. I wish I was thinking like you at 17!!
I am definitely interested in a deeper tour. Take your time - we aren't going anywhere. Sprinkle in a shelf tour. Just one shelf at a time. Discuss the author, the book's premise, perhaps a reading of the opening paragraph, take-aways from the book (if already read) or what you hope to learn (if not already read), and how you're applying the knowledge learned. This doesn't have to take place in one video . . . again, take your time. We love it here!
Honestly, it looks beautiful to me. The choas of all of these books being scattered everywhere in the room feels intense and fun.
The only thing thats getting me is books on the floor. I get so anxious with books on the floor.
Other than that, thank you for this. A humble and honest tour.
Haha thank you! I am getting 4 new bookshelves but if I put this off anymore I'd never get to it 😅
This is beautiful tbh. If I had this I wouldn't organize it lol. A more in depth book shelf tour would be great!
🙌🙌🤝🤝🤝
At first it felt crowded, but by the end, I saw the Order in the Chaos 🐸
🙌🙌🙌🤝🤝🤝
This could be the perfect space for a design CZcamsr to come over and take over and design it. I envision one of those walls like in librarys where the wall actually moves and there is even more storage behind it. A whole custom wall full of books with more space behind it to put more. Than a CZcamsr style desk with the mic, and the camera and all that sort of things for you to do your recordings and your CZcams videos, and then a lounge area for you to enjoy reading your books. A nice leather sofa (or more if you plan to have people over) and a circular marble or concrete heavy coffee table. Everything painted dark navy blue, giving academia vibes, a brick accent wall behind your desk so your background looks great on video with your lightsaber as an accent light and your favorite art pieces behind. And some other place to showcase your leather bags.
@@edwinfndz this sounds so incredible!
This would be a good series TBH. Seeing your progress each week organizing your office while teaching us how to organize our study/reading/thinking skills. It's a win-win!
I think it has a sort of an epic-fantasy organized chaos look, I dig it! The medals gotta hang up or sit in a shadowbox though.
I’d introduce a large Persian rug into the space. Attach some glass doors onto the bookcases. Overall I love your space.
I keep forgetting that I want a rug!!! Thank you!!
I want to see your bookshelf cleaning video. 🤣. You have so much great stuff to put on the walls as well.
Haha yeah I was thinking of doing a time-lapse actually 😅
@@ParkerNotes either way I'll be watching. I think you may need another shelf (or 2) in the overflow space to make room for your working projects space.
For me, having my place full of books, is heaven. I feel safe surrounded by books. Its your place, if you are happy, and fonction, then that is perfect.
Some people have a place or desk, that shows everything is in place, but when they look for something, they have to think of where they have "placed it" and other looks like its a mess, but they know exactly where to find everything in a sec. ❤❤❤
Loved the tour of your library/office. It's great to see the real, unfiltered side of your workspace - it makes everything feel so authentic and relatable. Your passion for philosophy, theology, and science fiction is truly inspiring. The mix of personal stories and your impressive collection was a joy to watch. Looking forward to more content on your new channels!
Sadly I do this to every room I work in. Piles of books and papers are my natural habitat. Every now and then I clean it all up but it never lasts. I’d be right at home in your space.
Haha me too!! Pur living room and kitchen table look like this too 😅😅
Can we see a video of how you take notes on your books? Maybe take us through the process of taking notes on books even the fantasy ones. It’s interesting to me.
Your office is perfect the way it is. I love it! It's not messy but accessible and lived in. Jealous I am!
🙌🙌🤝🤝🤝
I look forward to seeing your science fiction channel
🙌🙌🫡
Thanks for this! It would be dope to see a video on Systematic theology - or maybe a video where you sit down and show us how you study the Bible
🙌🙌🫡🫡
I second this.
Third!
4th!
5th!
Wow that's beautiful. Please do an in-depth tour!
@@uchromia 🫡🤝
i can totally relate and would love to see a lot more of these honest and real office tours on youtube
I thought about cleaning it up for the video but it's going to take so long so I figured if I ever do this can be like the before video 😅
Cool video! It’s great seeing all the different books and random stuff! It’s good to be surrounded by things one is inspired by 🙂
I find your office motivating for some reasons
😅🫡🤝
I love stuff like this. Thank you Parker.
OH MY GOD, interesting room, but a complete abomination
😅😅😅😅
Gotta love a dedicated reformed bookshelf. Great video man.
Love these glimpses at the person behind the channel. I love learning even more by association with your channel
Oh goodness, its comforting to know im not the only one with random books stacked all over the place, forming pillars and piles on which other books rest upon. 😅
I’m so here for this. The authenticity is real and I appreciate it.
This is so relatable! I used to worry about my bookshelves not being organised enough, but then I realised it doesn't matter since I can find any book in a matter of seconds. The way books are placed all over my space does not make sense to anyone but me and that's okay! Thanks for the tour, love your Dune collectibles.
Been looking forward to this for a while!!! Need a mustache routine video next 👨🏻
Haha don't temp me!
Your library looks lovely! I also have a chaotic office at home, but I always thought that disorganisation makes a working place slightly better for some of us. I have paper and pens or pencils everywhere around me at home. Happy to see that I'm not the only one with a slightly chaotic library🎩
Man i bet you're a great friend to have around. I love in depth theological and philosophical talks and my friends and I spend a lot of our time discussing these topics in depth. I would love to just pick your brain. God bless, friend!
lol. As book buyer for a university bookstore, I think, “Oh, my.” However, you do you.
😅😅😅🫡
❤ the TBR cart idea. I have some rearranging to do!
Hey. I really enjoyed the tour, love the all the books. Just a couple of suggestions. You can add glass doors to a few bookcases just to protect the most valuable books in the collection. In terms of organisation, if the shelves are deep enough, I’d add risers at the back of of them to put books on, and then create a second row at the front. That way, you double the shelf space (just l make sure the books aren’t too heavy). Hope this helps. :)
I actually just saw this on Mike's Book Reviews! Thanks, I'll give it a try!
My office looks exactly the same. I have multiple projects on the go at the same time which are also piled up on every surface including the floor. I use my notebooks to document my day and my learning of various topics.
My books are not only grouped by topic, but I try to have related topics flow into each other. So for example my C programming language books are to the left of my operating systems books which are too the left of my machine organization and architecture books.
This is pretty good!
A few things:
1) More Frank Frazetta art!
2) You should invest in those shelves that are in most university libraries with the cranks to consolidate everything! Probably not ideal, but could help?
3) Do you recommend an Epictetus Discourse edition that's not Penguin? The version I have doesn't have all of it and I want to absorb everything!
I really enjoyed that tour, your office is awesome!
I just turned 18 an I am so glad to stumble upon and you philosophy at this time. Your wisdom always amazes and inspires me and truly I am working to reach your level of philosophy and wisdom, youre like a second teacher but in comparison your subject always makes me spend more money on better notebooks. 100% worth it
As a big fan of your videos, you have inspired me to read books. When I was young I never liked reading books PERIOD. But from your videos I found great inspiration to read books especially books like Dune, Star Wars, philosophy, theology and etc. I would really appreciate it if you can do a video of going through each of the books you have, so that I can have more books to read that you have, please and thank you. Love your vids, keep up the great work and may God bless you on this CZcamsr journey
I love it! I have a similarly chaotic collection, for the simple reason that there's relatively little space. I really appreciate getting a grand tour--and I'm looking forward to the upcoming sci-fi channel! Seeing more of those books would be cool.
Dude, this is exactly how you should keep it. This is just beautiful!
🙌🙌🙌🫡🤝
I want to enter in your library and read all the books with my friends. 😆😆😆
🤝🤝🤝
Huge fan of all of your various channels! Hope to one day have an office like this! So many books!!!
🫡🫡🤝🤝
Great video, love the mess! I hope you'll do a video one day on your philosphy of mind bookshelf.
I love a book tour 👌 thank you for sharing
🙌🙌🙌🤝
Book recommendations would be great. I’m interested in the sci fi channel too.
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Finallyyyyyyy love your stuff man
🙌🙌🙌🫡🫡🫡🤝🤝🤝
Loved the vid!! and learn more about your wide interest, a shelf by shelf or by theme vids would be great . 👏🏾
Thank you!!
I love your mess. Books!!!!
🙌🙌🙌🤝🤝
A fellow brother of the reformed faith! AND a fellow Jiu Jitsuka! This was a great video!
🫡🫡🫡🤝
Honestly all you need to do to organize everything is have enough shelves for each topic you have or sections of topics, and one shelf alone for your projects on going. The main thing with organization is just putting back things where they "belong".
9Marks + Calvin…NICE!
🫡
for me it is a sight of those who are very passionate. If u can , categorized each book and make a list (i did that on notion) . Or if u cant just keep the books off the floor
Working on that, getting 4 new bookshelves asap
I’d choose this any day over an organized library that is never read. It is obviously well loved. It’s nice to see an inside view of your space! Thanks for the tour
This is likely outside the scope of this channel but I’d love to hear your thoughts on Calvinism at some point. Have you created anything on that topic?
I see all the books you have. I thought to myself, I cant beat this guy in an intellectual debate
Then you showed your brazilian jiu jitsu medals "Cant beat this guy as well in a physical fight"
You should become a superhero
Thank you for showing you awesome wolf den.I bought gladly envy you and hope you get more books and do your passion of writing more.
Happy to find other people loving books and knowledge as well. You are both a philosopher and scifi lover which a beautiful combination
Spied Gödel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid, one of my favorite books! Oh and I am a strange Loop :) nice!
Patternist theories of mind are so fascinating
You have more books than my school library 😂
😅😅😅
fantastic collection man! it looks amazing just the way it is but you can organise if you want. 📓📓📓📚
🙌🙌 thank you!!
As a german philosophy student, I just needed to see your Kant books to approve.
Jokes aside, I'd love to get some reading recommendations, especially in the theology/philosophy of mind department.
Excited about the comic books
🙌🙌🫡🫡🤝
It's not ugly, it's character. But I wonder what the process will be if you consider moving, or if you will ever move at all, because your collection is so daunting.
When you took us through your door ,Wow it started me twitching, but like all good rooms you know it 👍
Nice library! Please make more videos on your fav sci fi books
I love a good mess...of books. Would like to see more. You are inspiring in a weird sort of way....lol
Had “Bondage of the Will” in another room entirely from the Calvin shelf. Funny.
I can only hope to have a room looking like this one day. At this point I can only fill about 1 bookshelf. I do want to ask why you separate your videos amongst multiple CZcams channels? I want to catch up and get as much of your content as I can and just when I think I have you mention another CZcams channel are they all linked some spot I’m not seeing?
Look on my main page and scroll all the way down right above my shorts I have my extant channels but not the ones I'm still in process of launching
We want to see all the books that you have in your library.
🙌🙌
you never go wrong with the penguin classics, also "CONAN THE BARBARIAN SERIES!" *gasp*
WOW I loved your library buuuuut I sneezed just by watching LOL blame on my rhinitis, also I was thinking about 1 million ways to help you organizing everything! I wanna see all of your Lewis and Tolkien books and the christian/ theological books too. Great video!
Super cool 😮❤
🫡🫡
Your little figurines remind me of Disciple Dojo's site. He has ALL the figurines.
While i was a student i worked as a librarian to make extra pocket money and have a better use of my spare time. I realised I LOVED clearing away books and taking note of all the interesting titles i could possibly check out later. I would swoop in here and do just that in a heartbeat 😂
🙌🙌🙌🤝🤝🤝
Would love to see how you store all your different notebooks!
I see you've got books from the Reformed guys beyond Calvin - Frame, Van Til, Bavinck, etc. - nice! Did you go to my alma mater, TEDS, since you're in Chicagoland? Or a more Reformed seminary like Covenant, Westminster or RTS?
I'm a TEDS boy 🫡🫡
Me going through this video to see the names of all the books you have.
Heck yes. I am down for the scfi-fantasy, theology, and more break downs. Awesome to be surrounded by books. I am recovering from torn cartilage from bjj and can't wait to get back on the mats. Looking forward to the next video, are your other channels linked on here?
Marvelous
🙌🫡
Fun video!
🙌
*sees Parker with books*
*sees Library Tour*
*clicks like*
Can't wait to watch the video! 😂😁
this is what my room looks like lol, what is that little tray of books you have behind you on your desk? I would like to get one of those.
Love your content! I have a much smaller but growing library of theology and others, and some additions have been made due to your channel. You should do a video comparing systematic theologies. Also, do you have an estimate of how many books you own?
Thanks!! Mmm I have no idea how many I have lol
📚 a wee tour of your systematic theology shelves would be great 📕
Its beautiful choas! This is how all working library offices should look. Id love some recs on the philosophy of subjectivity if you have any (I've read mostly Lacan, Zizek), the Being Evil book soinds interesting, I may have to see if I can use that with my dissertation.
Lol I’m still amazed that you know where anything is.. remember that one time I tried cleaning up and you couldn’t find that one book for a week 😅
living my dream life omg🥺🥺
😁 mine too! Took a long time
I don't see a lot of epic fantasy. A lot of science fiction but an epic fantasy just hits different. Unique magic systems and full on world building. Every world will have its own moral and civil values. A political event and how it will change the course of the life in the world thereafter. Something I really like to read.
Drop some recommendations?
@@ParkerNotes I don't see Joe abercrombie there. Maybe a start there? if you want questionable morality to explore where all the characters are flawed and the society is ruined first law trilogy is a great start.
If you wanna tolkien vibe where there is just insane world building Robin Hobb is your friend. If you want an ongoing but very famous epic fantasy give cosmere a try. If you maybe wanna try horror fantasy give dresden files, dark tower a go. If you want to read something like eldrich monsters witcher is a good recommendation. I believe you might have read the wheel of time as it is just way too famous.
I enjoyed your book tour. It was fun. And made me feel better. I too have more books and journals than space. We just need more room. But then of course, we would just buy more books and soon we would need to move again. My interests are political philosophy, history, AI, and literature and distopian novels. Also like you I have many journals going at once. And I’m always worried I will run out of my journals so I’m always buying more. Anyways, thanks for sharing your office. I enjoy your videos.
So good to know there are more of us out there!! 🤝🤝
Was that Murdy Creative briefcase? If so, a review of that would be nice. Also how do you use your theology background now, if you do?
It totally is! It's great! Wish it was bigger actually, I should tell him that lol he's awesome. I still publish in theological journals here and there and I write theological/philosophical science fiction stories on my Substack. Also I have a podcast where I talk with philosophers and theologians
I watched! Where did you acquire most of your books? Where did you get your book cases? Do you ever use digital books to save room?
Ahh C.S Lewis, I collected different editions of Narnia:)
🙌🙌🙌
Do you think learning philosophy could benefit someone in their financial life ? Or is it more like a psychological health approach?
One of the first of the "western philosophers", Thales, was asked this and then in order to demonstrate the usefulness of philosophy he cornered the market on olive presses because he was able to figure out there would be a huge olive yield the following season and made a ton of money. This could be an embellished story but I choose to believe lol. Also you may say, well he was using botany not philosophy but that's just natural philosophy 😅
@@ParkerNotes interesting, mate. I wonder, when you have a philosophical question, who do you ask said question?
In my opinion, it's worth searching different branches of philosophy to see what each has to say, and use those answers to inform your delusion. h@@danielorozco1728
Learning philosophy may or may not make you rich, but that’s not the point.
@@madelinecoven6428 what's the point? Exactly
Love this vid
🙌🙌
Your content is really helpful.
I'm into reformed theology too. Where did you go to seminary?
Nice! I went to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for my 2 theology MAs. Did most of my ST work under Kevin Vanhoozer.
need a video your top 10 books and explain why you love to read.
🙌 Great Idea!!
Maybe niche, but anyone who loves books would love vids like this I reckon! How much of the Great Books of the Western World have you read? Would love a set…
This is really interesting. Thanks!
QUESTION, please… what percentage of all these have you read?
REQUEST: Would like for in-depth on the C.S. Lewis/J.R.R. Tolkien shelf… along with comments.
AND… great warning/admonition with the cool Smoug (sp?) the Dragon picture!
Kingdom Come by Sam Storms is great! You should definitely read it
Read half like 8 years ago but wanna master it. I met him at ETS last November and was able to tell him how much his work, especially his tough topics books, have helped me
