The same thing happened to me with Superman: the Movie. Back in the late 80's to mid 90's I was convinced there was a scene before Superman enters Lex Luthor's underground lair where he had to go through a gauntlet of fire, ice and bullets. All my friends thought I was making it up, so naturally I started to think I had dreamed it. Years later they released the DVD with extra scenes added in to the film, and there it was, just like I had remembered it. I later learned that one TV station had the rights to the theatrical cut, while another station had the rights to the extended cut.

Supposedly Main version is an hour and a half, for tv versions of movies it takes 2 hour blocks most of the time regardless of run times and they always created tv versions and cuz the film company/director self censor and left in "extended" stuff so it could fill those 2 hours along with time commercials.

My first real introduction to TV cuts was "Legend" and when it would air on TBS repeatedly in the early to mid 90's. The TBS broadcasts were the first times I had seen the movie and fell in love with it. Then when I got the VHS a couple years later I was confused that many scenes seemed to be missing or different. It wasn't until the DVD with the theatrical AND director's cut was released and the internet took off in the early 00's that the history of the first cut with a slightly different plotline and completely different soundtrack came to my attention and I had my OH, Ah HAH! moment. It's still perplexes me how tv stations were granted access to cutting room floor scraps and were seemingly given free reign to produce their own edits of films.

There was something like that with Trucks between the TV (where it originated) version, and the DVD version. There are about THREE kill scenes added that are cartoonishly ramped up, stupid, and gory. Two of them take place in and around the named areas, but are otherwise completely disconnected-- and the third one could literally be anyone anywhere. They were on the DVD I used to have, so while I don't remember the TV version anymore, I bet they weren't originally in it. All I really know is there was some discrepancy about it.

_Child's Play 3_ has the same situation... the old 90s TV version has some really solid scenes that were cut from the theatrical version (presumably for pacing). But what's even weirder is that there's a key moment I remember from the _Child's Play 3_ TV version that I can't find in any of the compilations of the TV footage. In the TV version, Tyler gives Andy a knife at the beginning of the movie and says something along the lines of "A good solider is always prepared."
But I distinctly remember the 90s TV version having Tyler repeat that line during the climax when he hands Andy the knife to cut off Chucky's hand ("Barclay! A good solider is always prepared!"). But it doesn't seem to exist anywhere other than my memory.

    Great video Tony...
It would be cool to talk about the unrated version (which is the director's preferred cut) and the workprint cut of The Punisher (1989) - the pre MCU Marvel one with Dolph Lundgren (the workprint cut is very interesting because has an entirely different extended opening, longer action stunt sequences that shows more of Dolph doing a lot of his own stunts and slightly different ending, with lots of temporary music from other films played throughout the movie, from First Blood, Leathal Weapon, Runaway, Aliens & The Terminator, because at the time the workprint was put together, there was no orginal music soundtrack recorded yet when the film was first being put together as a workprint...it does creates some unintentional laughs though when The Punisher wipes out a lot of bad guys with the Rambo theme playing in the background, lol...Umbrella Entertainment - an Australian releasing company put out a DVD & Blu-Ray, region free, that has all 3 versions - theatrical, unrated & workprint included. Last I checked it was still reasonably priced on Amazon and eBay).
And it would be neat if you talk about the TV extended cut of National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 (the 1993 spoof film with Emilio estevez family Jackson Tim Curry & William Shatner). It has a lot of deleted funny scenes and even some celebrity cameos that never made it into the final theatrical version nor are they on the VHS, DVD & Blu-Ray either (only on the TV cut).
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these two films and their various versions.

I was in the opposite camp. I grew up knowing the theatrical version. My parents were a little loose with the movies I was able to watch as a child, so traditionally, we rented a movie, taped it using 2 VCRs, and had a copy to keep.
A few years later, my buddy insisted that we see Chucky get resurrected at the end of Child's Play 2. I told him he was wrong... until I watched it on USA. Wild.
Apparently, the original plan was to have multiple Chucky's in Child's Play 3, but they did not have the budget for it so that got scrapped.
Anyway, I tool this alt ending for CP2 and made a theory that there was an unseen movie as a result.
    Enjoy.

You need to do one of my favorite TV cuts, the extended directors cut of needful things. it has 1h10m of scenes the director had to cut, making the characters stories easier to follow, introduces others that just show up out of nowhere, puts some scenes back in their proper places like them having things before they actually get them, etc.

Don’t recall ever seeing this. I came to Chucky kind of late (between #3 and Bride IIRC) and just rented them from the video store until I bought them.
