Yes I tend to root for the Midwestern teams more for that reason. You know, like it's just taken for granted that we're all supposed to know all this Yankee and Red Sox history and details. Drives me crazy sometimes.
❤️ the big red machine: still the greatest 8 man line ever;; I hear the story that Cincinnati red . needed Pete rose to play infield so they another big bat in the lineup ;
@@DonQwantsyou for to mention gose gassage; Becky dent; & Reggie Jackson;; forgot gose gassage came in 1978;; remember Don gullet: hurt his arm ;& finished from major leagues baseball ⚾️ : didn't last a season
I noticed they had Phil Rizzuto in the booth for the national broadcast. I don’t understand why modern MLB doesn’t do this. Invite one of the local announcers to be part of the broadcast team in their home stadium. Instead we’re stuck with Joe Buck every goddamn time for 20 years.
Too Bad, The Rest Of The New York Yankees Could Not Hit. But, Great Pitching From The Cincinnati Reds Will Do That! Thankfully, The New York Yankees Learned From Their Mistakes. The Los Angeles Dodgers Did Not Have The Stellar Pitching That The Cincinnati Reds Had. Plus, The New York Yankees Getting Reggie Jackson Did Not Hurt The Team, Overall, Except Billy Martin's Ego! 😳🧐😱🤯😁😅😂🤣😎🤓🙂☺️🏟️⚾🏆
Dreissen would have been a star on any other team. But he unselfishly waited his turn and was productive off the bench. The reds had bench and a great “bench” as well. Everyone knew their role.
I guess im randomly asking but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
A's had better overall starting pitching, but their lineup, as good as it was, was outgunned by the Reds. We will never know for sure.....would have been a great series, the '73 A's vs. the '76 Reds.

@@GetBenched2010 It used to be back in the day until 1974, that for the odd numbered games, Curt Gowdy would call PBP for the 1st half of the game, and the local broadcaster would do PBP for the 2nd half. They couldn't get past the Dodgers in 77', whom the Yankees beat in 6, they weren't beating the Yankees in 77'. The reds lost to dynasty Orioles and A's teams, they had to LEARN how to win. Yankees learned how to win by losing World Series to Cincy. Then Reggie and Gator put them over the hump.
Man did I want the Reds in 77 after this sweep. We had Reggie and Guidry the next year. We did our part, they lost their division to the Dodgers. An equally good team, with better pitching. Seems like the Reds only beat yeams that were not quite ready yet. Boston, NY Yankees. They lost to Baltimore and Oakland. Dynasty themselves. 77 Yankees beat these Reds 😊
i really loved how the reds made these east coast sports casters cry , nbc announcers hated cincinnati and the reds kicked their butts
They tried sooo hard to make Munson equal to Johnny Bench and it was laughable. Munson was a good catcher but there will never be another JB.

East Coast bias is real.
The 1976 Big Red Machine - They were, simply put, unstoppable.
This was Sparky's Reds at their zenith.
yes especially vs the pre-jackson yanks

Listening to Scooter Rizzuto whine and cry for 2 games was hilarious.
Rivers doubled off second 1:02:40. Took the wind right out of the crowd's sails. Killer play.
I worked security for the Yankees in the 70s, right next to the home plate end of the dugout. Couldn't have a better seat anywhere in the house.
The Reds in the playoffs this year: 3-0 over the Phillies, 4-0 over the Yankees
@Xander Crews Am talking about the Cincinnati Reds in 1976
@Xander Crews One of the best teams ever. This from a Yankees fan
@Xander Crews They were an unbelievable team. And Rose isn't even in the HOF!
The '76 Cincinnati Reds are the last MLB club to accomplish a clean sweep in/of the LCS and WS...
Still the last nl team to repeat
I was at this game box seats behind the the3rd base dugout....my cousin paid no more than 10. Bucks

AGREED
Even worse when it was Buck and McCarver.
That was the formula every year on NBC World Series broadcasts- to have a home team broadcaster for each game. 1976 was the final year.
Rizzuto over McCarver any day!!
The Big Red Machine....nuff said.
.....yep, nuff said! BEST TEAM TO EVER PLAY THE GAME! HANDS DOWN!
Not for nothing but the Big Red Machine made Mickey Rivers look like a big time fool in the world series
Joe Morgan. The Powder keg figure.
Thurman Munson hit over .500 in the series.
Great player. RIP
Munson was a great hitter

REDS PITCHING SUCKED!! Hadn’t been good since the 60’s since tgey had Jim Maloney & Sammy Ellis & Bob Purkey & Joe Nuxhall!!
Players like him don't exist anymore
I hate the DH, but if the NL had it back then the Reds might have been able to keep both Perez and Driessen.
Jim Mason is the all time slugging percentage leader in the WS.
Yep!
Doc Ellis is a legend. He did pitch for the Yankees and went to the world series there too.
Didnt he pitch a no hitter on LSD?
Yes he did

Thanks for this upload, as I only got to see the 1st inning of this game, due to it being on a school night, my parents forced me to go to bed...

@Clay Emery Instablaster ;)
Horrible parents.. LoL
Rizzuto having to stay for the entire game- let alone participate in the post game show.... classic!!
The 76 Reds were loaded. 3 Hall of Famers and Rose and Concepcion should be. C
Great debate would be the best team of the 70s, Reds or A's
Probably the Reds, simply because Finley broke up his team in 1976…. Although, that 1972 WS loss to the A’s makes it an interesting debate…
It’s a toss up…
A's had better overall starting pitching, but their lineup, as good as it was, was outgunned by the Reds. We will never know for sure.....would have been a great series, the '73 A's vs. the '76 Reds.

1:23:00....the one and only Yankee home run in the Series.
From an unlikely player.
RIP Pat Zachry (April 24, 1952 - April 4, 2024) dead at 71 after a long illness.
the best series the yanks were ever in.
Pat Zachry was one of the players involved in the Tom Seaver trade the following June
The Reds ran all over Munson and the Yankees in this series.
Munson play great; other NY Yankees did show up; NY Yankees stole Don gullet from Cincinnati red : he hurt his arm was finished from baseball ⚾️ "
Wish the Cincinnati red could have play NY Yankees in 1977 world series;; laugh laugh
That Yankees manager ruined Catfish Hunter too…
As much I love the reds them As teams off the 70s where patty good
Pretty
Dynasty
in todays baseball they wouldve pulled meenaney after mickey rivers single
1:20:32 Chevy Chase
Pete rose got in rivers head....playing him so shallow.
george foster was my man.
Foster was absolutely a key part of the back to back WS championships…
That’s what Mrs. Foster says too!! 😂😂😂😂😎

Love watching 1) the Reds beat the yanks and 2) doing it in front of those homer announcers. Always liked Joe, but some of his comments were pure bs
Zachry threw harder than I remembered. Lots of movement.
Yea , he did REAL GOOD WITH THE METS!! DIUCHE!! 😂😂😂😂💩💩💩💩
1976 Yankees didn't have a true cleanup hitter. Signed Reggie and problem solved.
Yeah in 76 reggie played for the Orioles
Straw the stir the drink ; reggie jackson you don"t have to give me a star : i brought it with him
That's what you think , even with Jackson , the Big Red Machine mows them down

Nope. Reds 4-2 at worst.
We lost Carlton Fisk and footballs Russ Francis to small plane crashes
WTF YOU Talking ABOUT?? ATE YOU OK?
Fisk is still with us. You mean Munson, who sadly passed in 1979....
