    Avoiding Babylon was started during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. During these difficult and dark days, when most of us were isolated from family, friends, our parishes, and even the Sacraments themselves, this channel was started as a statement of standing against the tyrannical mandates that many of us were living under. Since those early days, this channel has morphed into an amazing community of friends…no…more than friends…Christian brothers and sisters…who have grown in joy and charity.
    Avoiding Babylon does not criticize the hierarchy or institutional Church, especially Pope Francis. We recognize there is an unprecedented crisis in the Church, but we feel that there are other shows that address these issues that are more qualified than us. Instead, we try to remind ourselves and those who enjoy the channel that being Catholic is a joyful and exciting experience. We seek true Catholic fraternity and eutrapelia with other Catholics who, like us, are doing their best to live out their vocation with the help of God’s Grace. Above all, we try to bring humor and joy to the craziness of this fallen world, for as Hillaire Belloc has famously said:
    “Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
    There’s always laughter and good red wine.
    At least I’ve always found it so.
    Benedicamus Domino!”

    I'm a creationist,a young earth believer.. because of the evidence

      I am honestly trying to decide my position. I would describe myself as a theistic evolutionist and so a believer in Old Earth. I would like to understand the evidence for a young earth but everybody around me believes in old Earth and when I approach young earth issues I feel like I am learning about something extremely Fringe. What Should I do?

      Kolbe Center is amazing and solidly Catholic.
      Several protestant groups are also quite solid on presenting the case for creation:
      Institute for Creation Research
      “Is Genesis History?” documentary
      Northwest Creation Network
      I don’t honestly like Answers in Genesis and the Ark Encounter, which are Ken Ham’s operations; it’s hard to put my finger on it, but they just seem a bit too cringey for me.

    The TLM and Latin language united every society and nation to Worship and Pray as one, within our Lord & Savior’s Holy Universal Church. Now…the return of Babel.

      And this return of the curse of Babel is likewise a punishment in response to a haughty humanity thinking it could build a better route to heaven by reimagining the Church.

    What is too hard for God? Nothing! I’m absolutely a young earth creationist. The science works out. Taylor hasn’t looked into it, but I have. It’s what the Church originally taught. Any other way makes no sense.

    I definitely believe in a young earth, because of the beliefs of 2nd temple jews, Jewish writers contemporary to Christ and the Apostles like Josephus, and the early church fathers; but also because there are so many lies, faulty assumptions, and overall bad science in the studies of evolution and the age of the earth.
    God bless you all!
    (Just noticed my bad punctuation, I didn't mean to imply that I thought Josephus was an Apostle, but rather a Jewish writer contemporary with the Apostolic Era 😅)

    From the accounts I heard, I can't imagine any human structure surviving the Flood. I mean, I've heard the Grand Canyon and entire mountain ranges were formed in the Flood. The post-deluge landscape was unrecognizable from the epoch before.

    • @jefffinkbonner9551
      @jefffinkbonner9551 Před 9 měsíci

      Exactly. Although most Creationist geologists hold that the layers of rock forming the plateau around the Grand Canyon were laid down during the Flood and that the canyon was carved rapidly during a post flood ice age melt off with a huge lake dwarfing the current Great Salt Lake breaking an ice dam and rapidly draining the basin.

    I positively do not believe giants built the structures of old, as in fallen angel-men.

    • @avoidingbabylon
      @avoidingbabylon  Před rokem +2

      It’s just a theory. The myths that these cultures have actually say that Giants built the structures. That seems to line up with the biblical narrative.

    • @avoidingbabylon
      @avoidingbabylon  Před rokem +2

      The nephilim/giants were not angels. The “Watchers” mentioned in the Bible may have been angels but they did not necessarily father the Nephilim. Most of the early Fathers did believe that the Watchers gathered the Nephilim. St Augustine was the first Father to instead posit that the “Sons of God” who fathered the Nephilim were sons of Seth and not angels

      That’s debatable. There are different schools of thought on it. Even when Augustine and Aquinas gave their interpretation of it they didn’t have the book of Enoch as source material.
