    If I remember correctly, the main reason she got a lot of hate on release was that she couldn't support despite paid DLC and she was released along side Jeritza who was free, had two initial supports on release and is one of the best units on Crimson Flower which put salt in the wound. At least her paralouge gives out a great battalion.
    Also one thing I like is that her boons are references to previous playable Annas.
    Swords from Awakening
    Bows from Fates and Warriors
    Faith from all the above
    Lastly axes from Heroes

    I'm suprised you didn't talk about trickster for Anna. I believe that is her "canon" class since she has a special outfit for it. I think spamming soulblade as a trickster (with fiendish blow) and rescuing when possible is about her peak. Unless you go with a hunters volley bot build.
    I only used Anna once but I actually got some good combat out of the assassin class with Anna. And it's very easy for her to get into that class. I switches her between Assassin and Trickster in my playthrough. She really fell off towards the end and while rescue is really nice, her range is very short. It was disappointing bc I thought that would be her big selling point.

      @JonoabboFE  Před 2 lety +15

      My biggest issue with Trickster is I just don't think it is a particularly strong class in the first place. It's locked to 5 move with no range enhancements, no damage boosts in class modifiers, and it's class skills are Lucky 7, Locktouch and Stealth, none of which are particularly helpful, especially compared to things like Canto, Bowfaire or Axefaire. Foul play has it's uses but it is quite inhibited by the classes low move and lack of flight or Canto.

    Hey, I was just about to start a Church unit only run, and was trying to figure out what to do with Anna. Thanks for the perfect timing on this one!

  • @selfsustainedautocannibalVampi

    A few additional things about Anna:
    Out of every character with soul/hex blade Anna has the best crit so Wo Dao/ Cursed Ashylinar sword is really good on her.
    Ward & rescue is arguable the best combination for extra xp so even if Anna can't help in the fight she can always get extra levels and eventually get 30 levels higher than everyone else and nuke endgame. Same with Coco, I'm not sure if it still counts as "excessive grinding" even if it happens naturally through out the entire game.
    Bat/regular vantage + crest of Ernast is kinda neat but still meh.
    The magic hit formula is dex+luck so Anna does NOT need hit + 20 or support to use magic (I don't remember if magic weapons & combat arts use that formula or the other one, I think one of them uses the magic one and the other was physical but don't quote me).
    It sucks she only gets 3 basic offensive spells and 1 at too much reason but at least they're very accurate.
    I did a ng+ with sniper Shamire
    Vantage
    Defiant crit
    Etc.
    And she was a fun dual phaser, Anna would kill things in that build too and it would be easier to set up without ng+.

    Funnily enough I actually had her in the Trickster class, the class exclusive skill was a solid substitute to use to help reserve her Rescue uses or whenever I used them up, I mostly used her to help my slower units reach to other areas faster rather than having her actually be a combative unit herself but unlike my other 2 main Rescue bots I didn't have to worry too much about her tanking many, if any, hits due to her high dodging capabilities.

    • @JonoabboFE
      @JonoabboFE  Před 2 lety +3

      It is easy for her to reach and lets her use a lot of her tools for sure! I am just not a huge fan of the Trickster class in general. It's low move, poor class skills, and lack of good class modifiers really hold it back for me.

  • @Nerocrossius
    @Nerocrossius Před 2 lety +10

    I had decent success with Assassin Anna. Very little investment and she’s passable endgame material. Eventually gave her a Wo Dao sword and she critted a lot making up for poor strength.

    @g.n.s.153 Před 2 lety +11

    I agree that she's overhated at times.
    Anna has great tools but every time there's something that prevents her to really shine. Want to keep it simple with Wyvern Lord or Sniper? Well gotta deal with terrible bases for a while and her Combat Arts aren't anything too great either. A magic focused build? That reason bane makes it a lot harder to get Warlock bases for lv 20 which is usually what can save any bad magic stat and of course the Authority bane that is always gonna affect her no matter what she wants to do.
    Like Manuela, I usually go down the magic path with her. Rescue/Warp can always be useful.

  • @SparkBlazeWarriors
    @SparkBlazeWarriors Před 2 lety +3

    If swords were better I think she’d stand a better chance, being one of two units with both Soulblade and Hexblade could’ve been pretty neat. Unfortunately the other user is Constance, a unit who also has rescue, better stats, better spells, and doesn’t have to fight a reason bane to get into Dark Flier.
    Anna just seems worse than Constance in anything magical while in physical classes she gets outclassed by most any physical unit. Unfortunate because I really enjoyed her in Awakening which was my first fe game.

  • @MrMarinus18

    Anna is pretty much perfect to be a dancer. Her affinity for swords and faith magic helps a lot and her high luck and speed when stacked with sword avoid +20, sword proficancy lv. 5 and the evasion ring can make her pretty much impossible to hit. With her doing mainly things like gambit boosting, healing, rescue and dancing her low offensive stats don't matter that much. When she does have to strike they are usually just high enough that she can chip the enemy to where another unit can take them out.
    Her Pass skill also fits this as she can get into enemy territory and if she can get on a +30% or 40% avoid title she can dodge tank very effectively and her good resistance means it won't be cut short by magic users either.
    She is kind of like Mercedes in that regard however with the major boon she can come to the front lines and usually be fairly safe as long as you make sure she isn't completely exposed. Having Anna go from dancer to Trickster also works well (and she gets a custom outfit too) as the foul play allows her to move through rough terrain like a flyer without the weakness to arrows.

      Anna is unable to be a dancer though? She isn't a student (or Flayn) so she is unable to enter the White Heron Cup.

    I´ve never given a thought about it but, do the weapon banes and boons have any effects in battle? If not, then there´s no issue with just spamming with a broken weapon against an unarmed monk in an extra battle

    • @JonoabboFE
      @JonoabboFE  Před 2 lety

      That for me would fall under 'excessive grinding', since many people play with turn count in mind, or just find sitting there grinding broken weapons an unenjoyable thing to do.

    A bit late to the party but I think she could make some good use of Mortal Savant actually, if you push up her reason rank she’s can get fiendish blow and spam Soulblade and Hexblade, she can also easily pick up Death blow, Darting blow, and Hit +20. Death blow is nice if you want her to be more mixed and the other two are self explanatory, you could try to grind up her rank enough to get meteor but I think it’d just be better to get her rank up enough to gamble the promotion and be done with it. Mortal Savant also allows her to keep all her faith utility too.

    You talked about using wrath and vantage on sniper Anna, but said you hadn't super looked into it.
    I personally think that wrath and vantage on a sniper class is about the best use of wrath vantage you can get. Take bow prowess, aim and close counter as your other abilities, then you've got someone who can counter at 1-3 range, has naturally high crit and accuracy, and isn't hampered by enemy breaker skills. The only real weaknesses here are gambits, fortress knights and monsters. With hunter's volley though, you can also dominate on player phase, letting you take out the first two threats before they can target you, and still contribute to monster slaying.
    This works great on many units though, not just Anna. Heavy investment, but I think it's got a fantastic payoff

    I don't get why people hate Anna so much. She is a pretty decent low effort levin assassin since she has all the boons to assemble the pieces and the stats to make it work. It's a pretty decent build on top of that, destroying all mid game enemies with ease at 3 range, better than what can be said for a lot of C-ish tier units. Granted Yuri is better, but there was a time when she existed and he didn't.

    Trickster (DLC) and Assassin (Non-DLC) seems to be the most chosen routes for Anna
    With pass, she can move through enemy units and her relatively high DEX growth may cause more procs of Lethality.
    Yes, I know it is foolish to gamble on Lethality procs but what can you do with a jack of all trades, Master of None unit like Anna?

    I kinda wish they had put more effort in Anna's story and push her a little more. Like how much of a capitalist is she? In a war where you have desperate people it's easy to make a lot of money by overpricing them or preying on their fears. I kind of would have liked them to touch on that rather Anna is above that, if she feels tempted and what she does and doesn't consider acceptable business behavior.
