    I'm glad Jamie does longer versions, this is filled with great details. The plan to get into the cathedral would entail 'accidentally' letting Sherpa loose at the entrance with the expectation he'd wildly run around with Jamie in hot pursuit, presumably filming the whole time, has a few flaws.
    If there was a human anywhere near Sherpa would happily go straight to him/her to show them how much he loves them. If it was a woman he'd turn the charm to high in hopes of recruiting another Biscuit Lady. Or, given that many times Jamie has taken off the lead in front of a building and stepped back to take photo, Sherpa might just drop his bottom in the doorway and pose.
    The downside of having a seasoned, super friendly, smart Sherpa for traveling companion is rather than get into mischief he's more likely to give his hooman a disapproving stare that says "What are you up to? I'm not getting involved in any nonsense. I'll be waiting at the vehicle. On second thought, give me the keys so I can drive back to our lodge if you get detained. Hoomans..... you can't take them anywhere...they're always up to something."

    • @NickLongFilmmaking
      @NickLongFilmmaking Před 2 lety

      Only issue is, its not English history, its Welsh history, there is quite a big difference. The UK isn't just England. Its made up of Wales, Scotland and northern ireland too, which all happen to have their own languages and historh which date back much further than English history in britain. The celtic nations of britain have existed in britain since at least the 1st century bce. English culture did not exist in britain until way after the 6th century.
      But yeah, St David is the Welsh patron saint.
      Cymru am byth!

    Eh hem - St David's is in Wales, and is the smallest city in the UK! It's not bloody English! 😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Although where you're staying is often called "little England beyond Wales", I think because it's so flat! Not far from Milford Haven is where St Patrick was born. Yes, St Paddy was a Welshman! Sorry to disappoint any Irish people who didn't know, and the "Irish" Americans who undoubtedly didn't know. 😋
    One of my (very long time back) ancestors actually built the majority of the cathedral. Bishop Edward Vaughan. Till the 19th century, the Vaughan estate (I am sure it was at least one of the ones on the map, but I was only told it was just outside of the city, so I don't know which - it could have been all!), was in the family (on Mum's side). Unfortunately back then, St David's was so out of the way - no tarmacked roads - that they cost more to run than they were worth. Needless to say, no money came our way! His statue is in the cathedral, close by that of St David.
    Funnily enough, I was born and brought up next to an even smaller city in Wales. No cathedral, but there was a Norman city which ended up under the dunes, and the remaining houses and a pub kept the title of city until the early '80s. I actually sang for the investiture of the last mayor! The village is called Kenfig, and has a lot of beautiful dunes and a pool, and the vague remnants of a Norman castle. The font from the church which ended up under the dunes is in the church in the next village along. That's where I was a chorister for about 10 years.

    What an amazing place! I wish walls could talk or that I could travel back in time. I’d love to see it in its glory full of life 😁.
    Good thing you had a light with you for the dark places.
    Question, why where you whispering? 😜☺️. Thanks again for taking us with you. Look forward to more of your travels. Give that doggie if yours a warm hello from me 👍🏻👌🏻🫶🏻.

      @@SteveMikre44 Ah ok. Thanks for clarifying. I know that English Heritage and Cadw have a mutual recognition agreement for members. Jamie did say in the video that this was ‘the smallest city in England’ so there is an inaccuracy there and in other comments. Sorry if I conflated those with your comment.
