The XV is a compact SUV and an entirely new type of car for Subaru. It's aimed at the hugely successful Nissan Qashqai, although top-spec models overlap on price with more premium rivals like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. There's a choice of three engines -- 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrols and a 2.0-litre diesel -- as well as manual and CVT gearboxes. All engines have horizontally-opposed cylinders, also known as 'Boxer' engines, for which Subaru has become famous.

No matter what you said about this car...but I do enjoyed driving Subaru XV
Pretty much everyone in europe can drive a stick shift :)
Anyone know if you can adjust the bass in one of these? My mom drives one but I can't figure out how to adjust the bass or if you can
She is the best part of this video
ditto
TheCrazyCoutersHD agree
It is more adequate for those live and work in a city but sometimes have a trip to the forest. Crossover life is fantastic and this car is nice due to its Boxer engine and symmetric AWD systems.
"Five foot four and Half" .. Bless her she hates being short ..We one the other hand love it
Switch off the traction control and then try taking off hard. I love the fact that the XV is considered "gutless" because at the lights people get quite a shock when I take off hard. Switch the traction control back on and it sedately sips fuel, saving me a few bucks every 100kms over my old Outback.
I got a doubt in my mind, when they say bottle test, how much it is? 1.5 Lts? Or 2 Lts?
Rebecca has become so good at doing reviews. And always with her funny sentence "5ft 4 AND A HALF" lol
sorry to be off topic but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Will Mohammed instablaster :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FINALLY REVIEWING SUBARU.
But....i still want Legacy or Outback review in the future.
Kind regards
MS
Her voice is amazing. Good advert
Wasn't sure if the interior of the XV would be posh enough, thanks for clearing that up for me, A++++ would watch again.
How do you listen to your music from your iPhone
The US shift knobs in the Crosstrek don't look like that. I wonder where I can purchase one?
Keep the Subarus review coming!
Okay, I agree that still wanting a manual transmission is pretty absurd for a daily driver like this one, it'll be a pain. But manual transmission will never die out. Some cars a made to go do more than just take us from point A to B, like sports cars. They're also created for people who like myself, enjoy the feeling of driving and having complete control over the machine. I have an absolute blast taking my manual miata around for a spin even though it isn't practical. It's just fun
I like how in all her car reviews she suggestively grips the handbrake and features bananas!
Made the right decision getting this car! Enjoyed the exclusivity and not a common car on the road. confident with Subaru's AWD system that it won't fail me when I need it plus and good diesel consumption for an AWD car. Happy owner here.
I am a Toyota and Audi owner and was thinking of adding one of these to my families collection of cars. They do look the business and offer good value.
here in Ireland... XV is like a unicorn. always gives me a smile and wanted to wave at the owner for driving the same car. Qashqai, Shortage and Tucson are the usual car you will see over here.
Great review. Thanks.
How reliable is this car for a college student?
I get that the majority of reviews here are against the firm suspension, thanks for that. I'm torn between a Dualis and XV, so with long travels every week for me, I think I would go for a Dualis, though it's just a FWD, I wonder which of the 2 have fuel efficiency?
Hmm but an audi would fall apart long before the subaru would...
no, but 2x the price for spare parts and labor which is why nobody fixes an Audi, which is why they break -_- so yes
can u do a review on the DS5 plz?
wich model have you? does the sport one is comfortable?
Considering this or the impreza or the CX-5 for the next familly car - please do a review of them?
Its incredible how these euro-spec models are loaded to the gills as standard but in the US its option...option....option.
Reliability is always what Subaru vehicles are counted for. But for family outdoor weekend? Legacy Outback, yes, for sure it is. But this XV, this car lacks that sense of belonging-ness. This car is in its proper environment only when used as a *mining corporate's* inspection/supervising car, not for trips to beaches. It's too....serious-looking (despite the cool wheels).
Please do an Impreza review!! Please? :)
The tinted glass in the rear is a nice touch. Hope that feature makes it to the U.S. The U.S. Legacy Outback and Forester has 'em so I hope the XV will have it too. Should sell like hotcakes in the Northeast region in the states.
سؤال هي العربيه اخبارها ايه مع مطبات و حفر مصر ....تنصحني بها ولا لأ ....استهلاك البنزين ايه
Is that car just a all-wheel, tougher version of the Impreza? It looks almost identical to me. At least in looks.
does she say mitsubishi asx at 3:25 or is it Misubishi Air s..
The XV is a good looking car, to be sure, but Rebecca is downright stunning! excellent review by the way.
What was this video about again ?
Now I completely forgot why I came to youtube in the first place. Damn you Rebecca and carbuyer
Is this the Hybrid version?
Very cute I want one! The car is pretty good too
The NA versions start around $22k and a well-equipped one gets up to the $27k range.
So four adults will be fine back here??
Uhh whats the performance figures? Mpgs? And what is the price? More info and nice boots ....
I don't know you, but we are talking for the second time and I get you. Mustang is not so good either, but that history behind these looks (which I like) give it character or even what we call soul.
I've always been a fan of Subarus and want a crossover to replace my Qashqai. I like Japanese cars, but for reasons I can't fathom nothing about this car actually makes me want one. Judging from how many you don't see on the roads, I am not alone in this. Odd - I've always liked Subarus and I know I *should* go and look at this - but somehow I just can't get any enthusiasm about it.
why don't we get the 6 speed manual in the USA?
wow.. nice review
What platform in the US is this built on? Looks too small to be Tribeca. Too short for Outback. Hmmmmm
If you see all the reviews made by herself, you see the improvement slowly!
isnt this basically a 2.0 forester? since a forester is basically a lifted impreza with a different body and this xv is basically a lifted impreza with body claddings
looking for an suv,,maybe the forester turbocharge. thank for the idea anyways..
It seems like this is the car she likes the most. Good review.
I would rather not sit 4 adults in the back...! :D :D
bought my orange XV 2.0i-L at the end of march and I love the car... by far the best looking subaru and crossover vehicle in the market. Theres also quite a few negatives tho. She was right about the suspension... it is too firm. The boot size is way too small... lucky for me I rarely use it. The stop/start tech can be glitchy sometimes and the engine is underpowered. But all that helps save fuel so I guess it evens things out. Other than that.. it is perfect =D
Do you still have this car? How did it run?
A few things:
1. It's AWD, not 4WD
2. 99% of cars use plastic for the interior. Some just do a better job at making it less obvious.
3. I have a feeling Subaru isn't really a popular brand in the UK, so I suppose the high pricing isn't too unusual over there (especially compared to other European cars). To my knowledge, Subarus are only produced in Japan and with the UK being it's own island, I doubt it's very economical to ship there. I'm sure for the rest of Europe, the cars are brought over via trains. Other countries in the Americas or Australia have more demand for Subarus and are also easier to get to.
+Peter Schmidt
You are right in America you lied down, and you have a Subaru in your front porch we are all billionaire here $$$$$$$$$$$$
+Peter Schmidt There are Subaru factories in the U.S. and Europe.
Hocus Focus Productions To my knowledge, Subaru only has 2 factories - one in Japan, and one in the US (where the US factory only makes a handful of cars). As far as I'm aware, they have no factories in all of Europe.
Peter Schmidt I stand corrected. The article I read about the European plants was on CarsDirect from 2014 and has since been "debunked" in the comments. Apparently Subaru's plans to build in Russia tanked and they didn't make the move to Europe after all.
Peter Schmidt They make plastic because its easier to clean, being an all terrain vehicle. Sort of....
I only find it to be a lot of work is when you are stuck in traffic and constantly have to stay on the clutch in 1st. Other than that, traditional suburban traffic isn't that much of a problem.
The XV is very versatile. It'll go anywhere that the Outback can. It'll get 31 on the hwy going 70mph with the AC on, two adults in the car. It's not a car to beat anyone off the line. This XV will take anything the road can dish out, sand, mud, snow, ice and rain AND get you there safely. It's another top safety pick. I'm 6 foot and have plenty of head &leg room. I'm an owner of the XV, w/ popular pkg and sunroof; former owner of the Outback. Gas mileage is good. AWD is great.
i want to get this car next week
Very good review! Too bad the US version does not have keyless start at any price, perhaps in a few years. As for manual tranny, forget about it if you want any nice options.
4 adults in the back?
You're 5'4 ?
Grip levels, posh, well screwed together. Its a keeper.
I'd have to agree with him - simple fact is manuals are a pain in traditional suburban traffic and that is where most driving is done. I drive a manual van at work and while it's not terrible it's a lot more work.
omg lol turn the CC on! So crazy!
I LOVE this car
This car where my dad used to drive with CVT transmission.
That is GOLD!
platforms can have variable wheelbase.
Where is armrest?
And furthermore, she goes on about hard plastic. What is it with reviewers about interior quality? Soft touch wont last, especially arm rests, and does it matter what the dashboard is made of? You aren't going to be touching it constantly while driving are you! People are so easily sold on gimmicks - soft touch dashboards must be the most pointless feature ever. Oh yes, not forgetting that the Subaru is built to last. Bmw and Audi are not.
Last German cars that were build to last were in 90s.
1:58 lol I'm sure most people store their fruit in the front console, but hey at least now you know you can.
Great review , I'm not having one .
very charming look.
Do a review on toyota 86!
Something I don´t like in new cars is the fact that they are attaching the side mirrors to the door panels, not to the window-door corner like always. Don´t know what is the logic for that, maybe it is cheaper to place them that way or maybe that reduces blind spots on the cars, but reminds me of cars in the 70´s, when you went to a hardware store, purchased a couple of cheap mirrors, drilled holes on the door panels and slapped them there. Saw the new A3, and hate those mirrors placed there...
I didn't imply you did. I was responding to what you said.
Anyway, I don't think the two situations are equal, which was my point.
NR.1 car anti theft system in USA - manual gearbox.
1/2: I also had this XV out for a test-drive but no thank you! The suspension is way, way, way, too firm to be driven as an everyday car. This is a actually a sports car more suitable for driving on a track. But do not trust me, make up your own mind because we all have different taste. Met some Impreza owners and it was not too firm for them. The steering is excellent though but perhaps because of the firm suspense the car steers "by itself" and especially if the road banks.
nice review Rebecca!
4 adults?
\
i have the silver one , it's amazing :P
do more subaru reviews!
The boot is REALLY practical, because you have D-RINGS!!! Life fullfilling...
. . . and the XV has, in true Subaru tradition, fulltime 4 wheel drive, which is more than can be said about the Cashcow, CRV, and other SUVs.
Both so cute and pretty
please review IMPREZA!
Great Car!!!
Nice looking and now they have reduced the price in the UK by £2.300 across all the range !!!
Just a pity you can't get parking sensors front and rear like in Australia and Japan, even though it's the same factory and steering wheel on the correct side D'oh !!!
4 adults in the back??
it doesn't have as much space for storage inside as an SUV/Minivan, but it does more than a Chevy Cruze or other leading sedans..
Nice interior. Subaru built, serious no nonsense design.
Review toyota gt 86 please!
don't like the plastic at the sides (around the wheels for example). I think engine noise is something which is allowed at Subaru's, because it's a brand which is known for it's rally cars
I agree.
Why, what's the difference?
yeah and Audi will break your wallet apart when it goes down.
@WalkinOSF I had a friend who owned an Audi A6 that needed the front headlight bulb replaced. It was a $450 repair due to all the parts which had to be removed to get to the bulb, unbelievable.
She has a nice set
Why won't you talk to about the en cine? How good it is?
Engine no cine
Woman that was not a cup holder! (Re your reference to pocket in the door)
iz guud kaar?
Very nice, good suv too.
i'm amazed they didn't talk about the huge transmission at the back tunnel and well yeah, you can fit 4 adults in the back, well if you really squeeze them really and i mean REALLY tight!! i have one and its a blast to drive... :) i love you miss rebecca!!!!!
yes please!
