    Scott Adrian is (was) a real treat. His knowledge and presentation skills are (were) exemplary. I just finished watching his final presentation on Little Round Top is superb. As a native from Maine I am exceedingly proud of Joshua Chamberlain and Ranger Adrian was very respectful of Chamberlain's participation in the battle.
    I suspect he will be missed.

    These Rangers are so empassioned. They almost bring back the nightmarish scenes that had occured so many years ago. These men are our lifesavers in preserving history so easily that could have otherwise been lost. Thank you Park Rangers.

    00:00 A loyal Ranger announces that this is his last program and he will officially be retired upon it’s completion. 26:45 One of many interesting observations. Modern infantry would be placed on the back side of this hill and ordinance would be called in to hit the attackers approaching the hill. 37:05 The two Union regiments that experienced the most KIA during the war. 1:09:30 Who was the hero of Little Round Top? 1:10:55 A good Ranger retires. Well done.

    it is 3:30 in the morning I started watching this approximately 2 a.m. I could not get enough I thoroughly enjoyed this. incredibly informative it is a lot different hearing it from him been reading it in a book. I live in Texas. I've looked at all the maps I've never been there. seeing the train that soldiers fought over that must have been as close to the basement of hell which you can get to in July of 1863.

    • @willoutlaw4971
      @willoutlaw4971 Před 4 lety

      The "basement of hell". Now we know where all confederates ended up. Stonewall, Lee, Davis, Beauregard, Hood, Stuart, and the whole confederate slave holding, slavery defending zoo.
      Thanks for the information.

    Nice to see the film given its rightful place of being a great advert for the battle but misleading in its historical accuracy. This point needs reinforcing. It was not all about Chamberlain, he just lived longer than most afterwards and was the best writer/publicist. Which is not to denigrate him but to raise others such as Warren, Vincent and O'Rourke to their rightful pace alongside him. Culps Hill under Greene is arguably more important to the union line.

    • @kzeich
      @kzeich Před 5 lety

      Right. I just wanted to say that a movie can only focus on 4 to 5 story lines before losing its audience. 1993 Gettysburg followed Buford, Longstreet, Lee, and Chamberlain primarily.

    While it's not practical for a number of reasons, I really wish there was mandatory Civil War education in our school systems. Kids need to know about the war, and it seems like most of them just know that it happened - that's about it.

    Gen. Meade was a close friend and ally of Gen. McClellan (D). Sickles, although a Democrat, is a close friend and ally of Pres and Mrs Lincoln (R). He helps raise money and troops for Lincoln. Yeah, they, Meade and Sickles, hated each all right.
