- The METAL GEAR SOLID Master Collection is out and I set off to challenge myself by attempting be one of the first people to claim the platinum trophy for it! While I consider my playthrough a success - there are many things I could have done better that would have made claiming the trophy easier and more efficient. In this video I share what I learned to hopefully make you experience with the METAL GEAR SOLID Master Collection platinum trophy a much better experience!

I can confirm first-hand that playing the original mgs1 set to Japanese let's you earn big boss or fox rank on easy mode. I just did it myself and got the achievement that way.
The real difficulty is the VR missions.
For me fox codename is harder because you can only use 1 health item
Code name fox was not that hard. Using stealth and infinite ammo made it much more bearable. You get full health when repelling down the tower, fighting rex, fighting liquid, and car chase. You can cheese 2nd phase sniper wolf amd raven
As a kid I first placed every mission due to thinking I could get replay theater lol

Apparently they've patched the trophy for the VR missions disc. Edit: confirmed I just got my platinum with the VR Missions disc, cheers and good luck on your platinum

Good to know about these. I never got play mgs1 before, and the master collection is my first time playing it. I do know the whole story of it tho, but will still keep playing it since I like it's gameplay a lot.

It was crazy to me when you said on your stream, that your older cousin introduced you to mgs1, bc my older cousin gave me mgs1 for my birthday. We are also almost the same age, when you mentioned that I was like wow that's cool😂

I just finished the VR missions and I was fortunate enough to hear about the bug before I got to the VR missions currently working on the BB achievement and it is a definite task, I opted in going for BB just because these are some of my favorite games in the world so I thought conquering the Extreme difficulties on all the games will be a quote on my grave stone

Such a great video! It's a shame you had to redo the VR missions. I managed to get the Elite trophy through the Japanese version - the only issue I had in the game was the soldier ambush on the first elevator before Raven. I was worried about fighting Rex but it's pretty easy with Chaff's and running underneath. My mate used the vent glitch to skip half the game and he still got the platinum! I considered using the glitch too but felt it cheeses the game too much and makes it a much easier platinum to get.
Nice job getting the elite trophy and thanks for confirming that you can get it on the Japanese version! The soldier rush gets a ton of people, honestly. I’ve had quite a few people say they were over the kill limit and most times it’s because of that section.

When you first installed the game there was an update, try uninstalling the whole game include the other mgs games remove the game data and save game data put it on the cloud storage, disconnect from the Internet and reinstall the game and play offline see if that works for vr missions
You can also do the Integral part, you get the trophy there as well.
For the VR Missions? You can for sure but I think to unlock the last three Ninja missions you need to get a top rank in the main game.
@@PerfectStealth I dunno about the rank part for Ninja missions on Integral VR Disc, but I DO know that rank affects the photo sessions, in any case, is good to know that I can do the VR Missions trophy on MGS Integral, as I started to do that on that disc option over both the EUR Special Missions and USA VR Missions standalone.
So far I bought MGS2 individually and I'm having a blast playing the extra missions. Still gonna wait for completion until patches for the issues arrive.

I got 100% VR before finding out about the bug they need to patch that it's complete bs but I redid them on special missions and got the Achievement it is what it is
Do you still get the tuxedo on the fourth play through? Or was it the third with stealth and bandana. I can't remember.
I'm confused about the torture part. I'm trying to get the bandana and then I will reload the Sniper Wolf save to get the Stealth Suit. So far I beat the first three rounds of torture, which led to Ocelot bringing ketchup. I read up on what to do with the ketchup, but if I do that does it still count as getting the bandana at the end? Because the guard has come and taken me for torture twice now (for a total of three times). How many more times does he have to torture me? Or can I use the ketchup now and be sure I get the bandana at the end. Thanks!
Having done 600 VR Missions in a day is actually pretty amazing. David Hayter himself should buy you a cardboard box.

I have some questions,
1-Did they patched the VR missions disc as of 1.5.0 or do I still have to play on the special missions disc? I'm barely 10% into the VR missions disc so restarting wont be a problem but I definitely dont want to do 600 missions 😭 0:44
2- Do I have to finish the VR training with timer with any specific score or I just have to complete them no matter the time / score?

I was so hyped for this port just so I can experience 1 and 2 again on PC, and finally beat 3 as through a native PC port and not rely on emulators, but seeing the state of the collection on PC/Steam, I don't feel like giving Konami money any time soon until some very needed fixes arrive and it goes on a big sale cuz $60 for not even the bare minimum is shameful imo. Happy for the PS5/Xbox folk since their ports seem to be good but us on PC and the Switch crew didn't deserve this.
Yeah the PC port seems rough at the moment. I am glad they’re acknowledging that things need to be fixed but it’s a shame it released in such a poor state to begin with. I have no real complaints about the PS5 version so far. Granted, I’ve only played MGS1, MGS2 and a little bit of MG1 (MSX).
So can we get the platinum on special Missions instead??????

What about Integral VR missions? I decided to do everything on Integral in this collection since I've never played that version before. Should I not bother finishing it and play on Special Missions? I'm around 60% I think.
I’ve heard you can get the trophy to pop through Integral VR Missions. I decided not to go that route because as far I can remember, you need to get a top rank to unlock the ninja missions and I didn’t feel like playing the main game again to do that.
I've beaten this game twice and it still didn't popup for me to save my game after the credits. So I can't use the bandana

I have a big question, can you get the Elite trophy by playing the MGS Integral version on Normal difficulty? I already finished the game twice previously to get the camouflage and the bandana, I was going to finish it a third time to get the Big Boss rank but I see that here it mentions not to do it in the Integral version but in the normal version with Japanese language, I have that doubt and I don't want to have to play extra games because of some mistake.
No, Integral has the difficulty selection and ranks set up the same way as the Western version. You'll need to meet the requirements on Hard or Extreme.

Do cut-scenes count toward the 3 hours for the Fox/Big Boss ranking? Do I need to skip em?
They do count. You need to skip all cutscenes and codec calls in order to stay under three hours.

If I get an alert, if I die, exit and load my save (which would have occurred before the alert) will it count? Or will I still have zero alerts
In that scenario you’ll have zero alerts since the alert happened after you saved.

So if I've gotten the Bandana and Stealth camo from previous normal difficulty save files, can i just start a new game on extreme and I'll have them there?
No, unfortunately. Special items are tied to the difficulty you earned them on. Meaning Stealth Camo earned on Normal doesn't carry over to a new game created on Hard for example.

For me the stealth camo trophy is glitched out (Ps4 version)...
I got better than easy Japanese mode!!! I got the Elite trophy without having to do it! I don't know why, it might be a bug but here's what I did to get it so you can test it. I finished the game one time in NORMAL mode and FRENCH language, got the BANDANA ending and received the code name "IGUANA". When I started the new game plus, the Elite trophy popped just like that at the beginning! Best bug in my life! 😁

I just played these games for the first time and I think they are really good, I got two questions tho, I play on integral and didn’t get bandana, is this a glitch or is it just not available on integral, also I didn’t get a trophy for defeating the pain
What difficulty did you play Integral on? Not sure why you didn’t get The Pain trophy. There might be some more bugged trophies unfortunately.

You did not mishear me at all, my friend! You can indeed have the radar on and earn FOX this way on the Japanese version. Yet another reason why this cheese is so crazy!

Yeah as long as you save before you die or before an alert - if you reload your last save none of that will be on your stats at the end.

No you only have to do the VR Missions on the standalone VR/Special Missions discs.
Oh thank god they are already tedious enough having to do them all one more time made me want to vomit 😅
I need two trophies left. Though I’m really bad at the rope repelling section. I just don’t see how I can advance there without taking a ton of damage during an elite run.
It can be rough for sure. Which is why it’s a great area to save and retry until you get a good attempt at it

@@PerfectStealth Got the Elite trophy. Pretty simple on the Japanese version. Used 1 ration during the Rex fight. Clocked in at 2:46. Cutting it kinda close but I did it. Thanks for your encouraging videos. Now on to the VR trophy for the Plat.

Damn 99% percent of the trophies day one? I did a no alert run on MGS3 the first day and half the trophies didn’t pop for me 😂 Kind of killed my drive a bit lol

@@PerfectStealth Not sure, I’ve done a couple non-lethal runs too and still have around the same amount, I stopped earning trophies around beating The Fear. I looked it up and it seems other people are having problems mainly with MGS3 on PS4. The other games seem fine I think but I hope it gets fixed cause that was the one I was looking forward to getting the platinum

VR Missions is bugged. You need to play Special Missions for the trophy.

Another tip would be remapping O to L1 or R1 on the PS5 controller for the torture section. It allows for faster clicking and less chance of dying.
I went out of my way to not kill enemies and still ended up killing 32 of them. Where may I have gone wrong? The Meryl fight against the guards?
Yeah you can only take out the initial three and then you have to let Meryl take care of the others for you.
@@PerfectStealthI took out a few, I ended up with 27/25, but I went back to the driving sequence swapped to port 2 and controlled the first wave of guards to get them to run away, leaving me with 25/25 so I still got the fox rank.

I saw "play Japanese version to get Fox rank on easy" so I played integral through twice and didn't get Fox because they meant the main game Japanese version. Wasted a good 6 hours.
I can’t beat cyborg ninja on normal difficulty. 😞 idk what to do I’m so frustrated, I can’t be this shit at a game from 1998. I’ve tried that boss fight like 20 times now and I can’t beat it. I wanna cry😂 anyone have any clues besides chaff grenades??
Are you using weapons? Put your guns and the grenades away and he will put his sword away and fist fight you. Run up to him and bait his double kick. Then punish him while he's open.
I beat the game around 3 hours I got 4 alerts 19 kills without dying and still didn’t get the rank on the Japanese version I feel so burnt out 😮💨😔 idk what I’m doing wrong

I mean most gamers are kind of competitive so I guess you get a feeling of success, probably the same reason that makes ppl speedrun games, you kinda proof that you're pretty good at your favourite game but I can only speak for myself. He also said that he didn't get the game early wich means that he started "the race" later then others and still beat them

Boba frowns at your life choices... you're literally talking like people should be speed-running the platinum talking about "save at boss fights, you'll lose a little time"... I don't understand why in the whole video you treat everyone like a speed runner, but then tell them to do the tower rope decent and not telling people to just use the tower door damage glitch to skip half the tower climb, the entire rope decent, and the 3 guards on the walkway.
How do I get the Cover-To-Cover Solid Trophy !
One more thing, you can use Integral for the VR mission trophy also, but you do need to do a max rank story playthrough on Integal to unlock the Ninja missions.
Is integral the Japanese version?
@@TheDarkKnight80 Yes, it was a Japanese release, but it's the version that's launched under the Metal Gear Solid Integral option on the initial launcher, not the Japanese option under MGS1. there's two Japanese versions included in this collection. The original release and the later Integral re release.

@@TheDarkKnight80 Basically. MGS 1 had two versions in Japan, it had the original (which you'd play if you selected Japanese under MGS), and Integral which is its own option. Integral is a Japanese version which has the changes from the western release (for example, difficulty settings), a new very easy mode, FPV mode and a new game+ mode with alternative guard routes. It also has VR DISC which is what later became Special/VR missions
