  • In this video I am continuing my home office makeover project. I recently replaced all of the trim and painted the walls. In this video I want to share my office setup and give you a desk tour featuring the products that I used.
So far I am extremely happy with the layout of the new office. That being said this room is far from done and I am looking for even more suggestions from you as to what I can do to make this the ultimate home home, workstation, makerspace… than we can. This setup is really helping my productivity as well as easing my need for this to be neat. One of the features that I am most proud of is the computer hanging from the bottom of the desk. It looks very clean and really helps with the cable management.

That position is perfect as the cables can run directly through the top of the table top and not to mention its great for airflow as well, not intaking dust and carpet debris. Your projects are very well thought out.

I’ve watched a lot of set up videos and I think that this is my favourite. Love the clean minimalist design and as a contractor myself, this has given me a lot of inspiration!
The only thing I’d maybe change and this is really knit picking would be to mount the speakers on the wall but it’s a lot of work making cable pass throughs etc. just to gain you a few extra inches of desk space

ditch the wireless keyboard and instead buy a wired one (personal favourite is the razer blackwidow elite for its cable management features) drill a hole in your desk route the keyboards cable through and under your desk to your PC this will save you from recharging your keyboard You can also get an elgato stream deck for productivity for macros, key binds and shortcuts it can speed up editing and general use of your PC you can route its cable through the same hole you drilled for your keyboard if you place the stream deck near the keyboard. if you decide to get a razer keyboard and want a matching mouse look at the viper ultimate or basilisk ultimate both great mice and have a charging dock (and RGB) if you want a cleaner look maybe a soundbar could look great on your setup i have a creative soundblasterX katana and it sounds and looks great another thing to note is Razer's software has philips hue built into it so you should be able to control all your lighting from there aside from that maybe add some shelves on the walls show off some stuff like statues, POP Figures anything you're into Looks great keep up the good content!!

  • @anthonym612

    My suggestions:
    1) get yourself some stands for your speakers (referred to as 'monitors' in a recording studio) or consider wall mounting those either side of the TV
    2) Remove that bottom white 'foot'/bezel from the PC if it's going to remain hang-mounted
    3) Mount a surface pop-up box for USB ports/SD card ports. The stuff mounted to the underside of the desk edge would probably drive me (personally) nuts.
    4) Mount a Qi wireless charging pad underneath the desk and have a "zone" on the desktop for charging a device

Hanging your PC is the right choice. You don't want tiny fibers from your carpet floor getting sucked into your PC. However, your PC looks a bit slanted down. Using a pair of heavy-duty drawer slides attached to the top surface of the case could work nicely and would give you easy access to the IO at the back.

what a setup! so so nice. can i recommend one thing (from personal experience)? If you get "ISO pads" for your speakers (less than 20 dollars) to sit on, it will really, really transform your audio clarity and pleasantness. Sitting on the desk causes unpleasant resonance or whatever, that is mostly only noticeable once it is gone. My 17 euro ISO pads on Amazon also came with cable management adhesive buttons that are proving a lifesaver with regards my setup, and the sound quality has been transformed immensely.

I just subscribed today. I love your craftsmanship and videos. Lots of comments here, and I did not read through them all. I just wanted mention that you called the TV a Sony. You do show the correct product (Samsung) in your description, so all good. I just thought I would mention it. I am an Audio/Video Systems Integrator in Silicon Valley/Northern California and spend most of my days wiring residential (...and some commercial) technologies. I really like what you did with this desk. I cannot stand it when electricians put outlets at standard height (around 15" off the floor) under a desk, so the wire mess is always visible. Nice work. I look forward to seeing more of your work and watching more of your videos. Everything is very well though out.

An interesting ‘case’ study for you to try, split into 3 questions:
    1. How much/many 140mm based radiators (e.g. multiple mixes of 420mm and/or 560mm) would you need to be able to passively cool (WITHIN the same case as the components) a top of the range (eg RTX 3090 and AMD 9 5950X or a threadripper) fully water cooled system (at least GPU, CPU) at full over clock, to within 5 degrees of ambient temperature with the fans set to their absolute lowest possible speed, and not really needing to spin at all under normal load?
    2. Which off the shelf cases (max spending limit of $1,000 for the case) can fit all those radiators at the same time?
    3. If there are no cases which you can buy off the shelf which can fit those radiators at the same time within the system case, which case would you buy off the shelf as a starting point, and can you show us a step by step followable guide to how to mod the case so it CAN fit all those radiators? Try and keep the modifications to methods that people could DIY with only moderate access to power tools.
Can you demonstrate/show us such a system in action, and give us a rough idea of total cost for the case and total cooling system (e.g. presumably if there are loads of radiators, a more powerful pump would be needed)?

I'd love to see you curate the acoustics in that room. Off to a great start with those speakers, but there are so many bare, flat walls that bounce sound around, especially doing recording it is very noticeable and harsh. A bookshelf, some hanging fabrics, I like to use heavy curtains if there are windows or even big tapestries. If you want to stick with the minimal aesthetic you can get sound absorbing panels to hang on the walls. I like when I walk in to my office and it sounds like walking outside after a snowfall; quiet. Don't need to go full recording studio but a little care towards acoustics goes a long way!

Nice workspace! Might be overkill since you don't really see the underside of the desk, but I would paint the desk framing the same carbonite color to truly make it disappear. I would also try to match that bottom outlet with the carbonite color of the wall too if possible. Adding some wall art is too subjective upon your personal tastes and preferences, but I would consider looking into "acoustic panel" wall art to complement the minimalistic aesthetic you have going. Lastly, I agree with another comment made about incorporating a wireless Qi charger to the desktop.

Love the video and what you've done with the space! You may contemplate adding a tiny mixing board somewhere (hidden?) that allows you to feed more audio sources to those speakers simultaneously (and control the levels of each independently). It might be overly complicated for your setup, but if you ever get into adding any gaming systems, or even connecting a tablet/phone then being able to listen to audio from more than one source at a time is super nice. Hey man, if you’re ever thinking about upgrading the TV consider buying the Samsung M7 smart Monitor, which is also a 32inch 4K display and it has all the Smart TV features (and then some) plus it’s like $150 dollars cheaper too

Love the setup! Wire management is key! Enjoy the info you give on the lighting. That’s a really nice PC case, and I like the way you worked out side the box, and hung it from the desk... I would have never thought of doing something like that. When you have a perfectly good case, why drill holes. It’s got me thinking about my next adventure with a gaming desk, PC build, and all the stuff that goes on with it. Great job!
Yes do a video on your closet!

I would add two more Phillips hue bars behind your monitors but pointing towards the ceiling. It seems dark/unbalanced there. Really good clean look for your workspace. Mine is incredibly messy right now and your setup makes me want to re organize and clean it up!

Hello! your setup is really good, really. I really wanted to do the same with my monitors, but here in Brazil we don't use drywall, so it's a little harder to do this "flloating" aspect. I like the real minimal look that your setup have, looks very good to daily use. And please, post the closet videos too!
