I loved how the owner and his wife as so down to earth. Restoring this beautiful automobile is a great accomplishment.

Totally stunning! One of the things I love so much about these classics is everything is real. It’s not wood or metal effect, it is wood and metal. The mascot is probably solid silver too!
Hi V8Adam, High praise :-) Enjoy reading the details you see and reading your thoughts on this car, Lou
Lou, I wish other videographers would take lessons from you on how to photograph a car. Your hand is steady, you give us money shots of the entire front, side, rear, interior and engine bay of the car and then zoom in on all the most important details. And you always finish with a shot of the proud owner standing next to his car for scale. No random flitting around, pointing at the ground or the sky or making us sick with unnecessary panning. No missing major details like the interior. And you ask intelligent questions of the owner too.
Hi dlwatib, Thank you for the kind words on the videos. I appreciate the encouraging words, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Lou does things right and it really shows.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.

@Quentin Jairo i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
That car is nothing short of absolutely stunning. what a gorgeous motor car. that owner and his wife must be so proud of it and rightly so.

No wonder they called them 'The American Rolls' - that car has a Regal look to it , and every part of it seems beautifully finished to the highest standard ... The King of the Road !
Couldn't have said it better. Thank you Derrick for adding a comment, Lou
during WW2, Rolls Royce sent one of the prototypes of their "Merlin" engine to Packard. Packard sent it back after squeezing another 1000 horsepower out of it.
Rolls Royce incorporated Packard's improvements, then licensed Packard to build them as well for the war effort.
i'm betting Henry Ford couldn't have pulled off THAT one!
as a machinist, i was born in the wrong era.... craftsmanship like this brings tears to my eyes wishing i could have worked with the men who made these amazing creations.
No, they were actually considerably superior to RR in many ways.
Lincoln did it even better with their V-12.
But not the Lincoln Zephyr V12. That engine was disappointing.
What a BEAUTIFUL car! Packards have always been my favorite vintage cars, which I remember from my childhood in the 1940's.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Glad to read this Model is a Favorite of yours.
Wow beautiful vehicle. Packard quality personified. What was their slogan? "Ask the man who owns one"
Rob Mastro
Yes, that was their advertising slogan.

What a lovely owners couple. This packard is smooth as a swiss watch. What an engineering advantage in the United States during this period of time. This car looks like it's straight out of a great Gatsby novel. A big thanks to you Lou for showing this gem.
Hi ZbyszekStefaniak83, I agree, great Caretakers for this car :-) You're right, super smooth....just the way we like it :-) You're welcome, Lou
This is the most tastefully restauration I ever seen. Car like new, and the intereur newly designed but nevertheless not overrestored. The restorer must be an restauration artist. Top craftmenship. A very fine rare historic car.

Gorgeous car. Packards are tops in luxury for that era to me and the styling is second to none. I love the Packards, every year that they were made This is a real beauty too. Thank you for sharing that treasure.
Hi Craig, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, and you're welcome, Lou
This 1937 Packard convertible is absolutely beautiful and I love what the owner said he likes to keep cars as original as possible great job and that's how I feel keep them old cars original as possible just like it was built in 1937
I like original cars too as it brings you right back to that time period.
@@loucostabile thank you for letting me know you appreciate my comment I also like when you said your Packard would not be a trailer car that you were going to actually drive it to car shows again a beautiful car keep it original just like when it was born😍
I am just absolutely floored at how classy and regal the car looks. I mean, this looks like something that wouldn't be out of place in The Great Gatsby. Just....holy mother god she is beautiful, and I'm just grateful to see that Packard in such a fantastic restoration. The owner as well I respect for not only restoring this without experience but wanting to do it right, but also drive this thing so the rest of us can marvel in it rather than lock it away in a garage forever.
Hi Vectored Thrust, Thank you for leaving a wonderful comment. I believe you've found a Channel for you. I think you'll learn something from this next video I'd like to share with you, Let me know what you think of this video, Lou czcams.com/video/vmmG1dXBDcg/video.html
what a beauty...wow...a great restoration...a serious six figures spent on that....the pre-war Packards are something special....thanks Lou!
Hi allen max, Happy to receive a "wow" from you :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
Our family had several senior Packards and a Caribbean over the years and it's difficult to imagine how great our cars might have become today had Packard managed to survive.
I drove a '55 Packard to high school. It had been re-po'd by my dad's dealer ship. Nice car, ahead of it's time in many ways.

Hi William Scott, WOW Top 5, Nice :-) Lou
This Packard gets my vote for "ONE BEAUTIFUL CAR." You did an outstanding restoration. You can eat off the engine it's so clean. The first words out of my mouth was "WOW!" Thank you for restoring this beauty!
High praise for this car :-)
Fantastic trip back to 1937! The Packard is a strong classic millionaire's car that will last forever. Thanks.
Hi Juan, Happy to take you back to 1937 :-) You're welcome, Lou
I once knew a Rolls Royce Mechanic and he told me the same story about standing a nickel on its edge, atop of the air cleaner of a Rolls engine while running. It was supposedly a quick barometer for the engine being properly tuned.

One of the great american cars by a man who has the perfect attitude to be the owner. His knowledge of Packards is deep and impressive. His wife has great style as well. Love the early V-12's. Not much on power but reliable, gorgeous and smooth.

Hi tigerbyte0, High praise :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
A 12 cylinder, dual side mount, jade green Packard touring car. Magnificent. I've heard the top on a convertible sedan is a mutha to put down and worse to put up. The "B" posts are removed by hand and then trying to get the boot on isn't easy either. By the time you're done it's turned winter and too cold to have the top lowered
Hi Steven, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
You dont see QUALITY or CLASS like that anymore. You know it's really sad that the USA let Packard Die after the war... Packard helped us win the war. I think they would have sold in huge numbers after so many service men and women trusted their lives to Packard Machines during War Time. But instead...we let her fade away an Ignominious end for such a Magnificent Company
Agreed, this car is quality & class. Sad too that the company no longer sold cars. Thank you for commenting and sharing, Lou
i agree. my father bought a 1933 Packard Coupe when he returned from Europe in 1945.... and spent the last 25 years of his life kicking himself in the ass for selling it when he got married two years later.
Some of the post-war Packards were good cars but they couldn't keep up with GM's lower priced, powerful V8s. We had a '53 Caribbean and I thought it had a solid feel that was hard to match.
Packard made a number of marketing mistakes, the first and foremost was trying to go down market and gain volume after the war when any car they built would have sold. They also couldn't compete down market with the economies of scale at the big 3. They also didn't have the styling of GM. Harley Earl at GM was one of the greatest artists of the 20th century and his designs kept GM in the front. No comparison in styling between a post war Cadillac and a Packard. Packard could compete with Lincoln and Imperial, but not Cadillac after the war.
The design of packard declined significantly. If you look at their designs you’ll see there’s a reason they went out of business besides overambition in restructuring
Absolute gorgeous vehicle. Well done sir!
And thanks for sharing.

The 1930s Packards are some of the most beautiful and best engineered cars of the pre-WWII era. Great video and nice owner couple. The Packard engine bay is just as beautiful as the rest of the car. So great to see these classics restored and glad to hear he plans to drive it..........that's why it was built in the first place. 👍 Wonder if he (and three helpers) will ever put the top down. There is one major improvement with the power operated tops in the 50s and later. One person and one button and the top was up or down.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
Another great american work of American art and engineering.

BACK IN THE LATE 30 'S AND EARLY 40'S I LIVED ONE DOOR DOWN FROM THE FARREL FUNERAL HOME IN OREGON IL.AT THAT TIME TILL 1947 THEY OWNED TWIN PACKARD 12'S A HENNY HEARSE MADE IN FREEPORT IL AND A LIMO THAT THEY CONVERTED TO AN AMBULANCE BY TAKING THE LIMO SEAT OUT AND PUTTING IN A SINGLE BUCKET SEAT FOR THE DRIVER . A STRETCHER WOULD THEN FIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THE DOOR PILLAR WAS MOVABLE BY LOCKING IT TO THE REAR DOOR. THEY REP-LACED THE HEARSE WITH A 1947 CADILLAC WHICH WAS ALSO CONVERTIBLE TO AN AMBULANCE THEY ALSO BOUGHT A 1947 DESOTA LIMO WHICH HAD THE SAME SETUP AS THE PACKARD LIMO TO AN AMBULANCE. THE CADILLAC WAS A PROBLEM AS IT WOULD NEVER START SO THEY DID NOT USE IT AS AN AMBULANCE. IN FACT THEY TRADED IT FOR A 1949 BUICK HEARSE BY FLEXIBLE. THE DESOTA WAS LIKE THE PACKARDS GOOD FOR 10YRS.

Lou, you have a knack for selecting the best autos to review. I always enjoy your videos, in particular those showing Packards, Duesenbergs, and Cadillacs. They were a part of the old Great America that may be returning again with Johan de Nysschen at the helm of Cadillac.

@@loucostabile Cadillac is again in turmoil and it continues to squander the good will of it’s name. Very few young people now understand the comment that “ it is the Cadillac of xxxx “. A buzzy little V6 and angular lines don’t seem to have much of the original Cadillac DNA.
That said, I love the old Cadillacs and again thank you Lou for your work on them.
Brings back memories, my Dad brought home a 37 Packard V12 rumble seat roadster, black on black. He bought it at an estate auction in the spring of 1955. We had a lot of fun riding around in it that summer even though he could never get the 12th cylinder to fire, he sold it thru the Motor Trend classifieds in the fall of that year, made a tidy profit I believe, always wondered what happened to it.
Good times, good times :-) Thank you for viewing and for sharing the story of the car your Dad brought home, Lou
