Glad you kept it in one piece Nate! Likely your issue with not having SAFE is because you have the Gear channel set to B in channel assign. This NEEDS to be on FMODE. Also make sure in the FMODE setup menu that you have Switch B set and H set to Hold. Hope that helps! Hopefully you can find a less windy day to get more heli stick time!

The hardest thing once you get good on the sim is pushing past the mental wall of just hovering and stepping up to forward flight, then the next wall of inverted, the the next etc.. it’s baby steps and you build up confidence as you get better. I love this little heli, I have the older model. If you can fly off some grass, it’s pretty durable. None of them are tuff against asphalt or concrete. Nice, honest video.

Bigger helis are definitely more stable than the small ones, especially when your lower to the ground, flying in your own blade wash.the only draw back is the bigger they are,the more expensive the parts are.have been flying helis for about 20 years, have 6 of them ranging from 250 to 550 size.the 550 is always my go to heli, especially if it's windy.

Not boring at all !-I'm considering getting back into Helli's-actually RC in general, have done a lot of flying with the old Blade CX2-but in '18 "enjoyed" a fractured C1-C2 vertebrae with a disconnect with skull, now the 2 vert's are screwed together and connected to each other with titanium and connected to the head bone with more metal, so head movement is quite limited,it was a pain in the neck-but fine now, just gets tired easy, the 2 year recovery time put me out of RC for a while-fixed wing is pretty much out as quick or large head movements don't happen, so I want something I can keep in front of me, without turning around a lot-also have a bad foot which makes dancing about problematic. looking for something stable and docile at first, especially at first until getting a bit of feel back-I could handle the coaxial birds in a breeze fine, flying patterns(circles,8's, etc) only problem was getting too enthusiastic and tangling blades together, also have a couple quads-come to think they would be about right for getting orientation back again...have just recently gotten the Axial early Bronco(had to have that as I long ago owned the real thing and it caught my eye) and the wife wanted one so we have both colors, then saw the WPL Toyoya fj40-(brother had 1 of those in blue while I had my Bronco-so got one of those as well-really a fun little thing for its price, and the cute factor is way high-at this point I'm 71 but never too old for a bit of fun again, thgose or a 230 size would fit nicely in the back of the c 4 Corvette I bought to celebrate getting my license back(had to take the drivers test over to prove I could drive with a fused neck, and did it while still wearing a Miami collar-no longer needed) so this year when the weather gets better plan to fly something again.-always enjoy your videos-your fun attitude is great-keep up the great work.

Great to see some heli love, really cant beat the thrill of flying em. Your definitely ahead of the game, given the fact you kept that heli pretty much on point the whole time without stability. Definitely not how my initial flights without SAFE went. If you really want to get into the 3D side of flying, practice your orientations until you can fly the heli from any angle without hesitation and for sure practice the flipping motions in the sim until its second nature. Its not as hard as seems to do the more basic inverted tricks, just remember to breath haha. I wish you the best of luck in your heli adventure!!!

That tail wag is too aggressive gyro settings in AS3X (what you were using). It's resolvable but requires Rx programming. Looks like a nice little bird. AS3X is a game changer with helis. They are still a challenge to learn but the AS3X makes it MUCH easier for a beginner.
Heli videos helping people start from no experience and progress are really rare, so I'd vote for some of those! RC helis are fascinating, not easy, but the experience of flying one is amazing. My Blade 230S has given me a ton of hours of pure joy.

I learned on a ldarc et125, then went to my Trex 450 that I was never able to fly well and my brain just said it's a big mini quad then it was easy. The only drawback is the visual orientation is more difficult imo for helis.

I've always had terrible luck with helicopters outside. The slightest breeze throws you all out of wack, that's why I was so excited when drones became common.

I've been progressing with the 230S, but my new rule is not using SAFE while on the SIM. That's been forcing me to learn.

Hey try to find a used Align Trex 500 super floaty the bigger the heli is the easier they are to fly. But anyways you will have a blast with that one. 500 and over sizes it gets fun but unfortunately when you crash parts get kind of expensive. But at least try to score one for your fleet. I have all sizes My sab Goblin is nuts. When you learn how to set them up you can adjust head speed to make helicopters more docile. Got the feeling that RC planes are getting easy for you and you want more of a challenge. RC helicopters take pure talent and lots of practice. But just remember what I say the larger helicopters fly way better so much more stable and floaty..

I do enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for putting them out. But, I was wondering if you test some of the RC cars and other things that you can buy from stores such as Wal-Mart. That way the viewers will get some idea as to what kind of performance these RCs do.

I used to fly 3d, I got a really nice high end helicopter and was cutting grass with it to show off. I turned to talk to a guy and bam, into the ground. It disintegrated. I tossed it in the trash and watched tv. Finished never again. Hundreds down the drain. Been 15 yrs. I still fly helicopters but not 3d.

Most skilled quadcopter pilots can fly Heli's. The problem I've experienced owning a few is they are very expensive to maintain. The rotor assembly being very fragile..
