OLAPLEX products are sometimes mistakenly referred to as “protein treatments,” but this is false!
While OLAPLEX N°.4 and N°.6 contain minimal amounts of hydrolyzed vegetable protein, also known as peptides, at very low levels, our other products do not contain any forms of protein whatsoever.
Other brands do offer protein treatments, and these contain higher levels of protein and are specifically designed to act as an external layer of protection for the hair cuticle.
Conversely, OLAPLEX works to heal hair internally thanks to our patented formula, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate, which relinks broken disulfide bonds in hair strands.
