I remember this piece driving me crazy when I first watched the scene with Sean Penn walking through a market place to meet his supplier. Such a great movie with so much going on in that scene... but it was the music that stood out a mile high. I've owned it ever since. :)
Instantly recognizable sound of Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays and the group. Rest in Peace, Lyle Mays (1953 -2020) - the quiet genius from Wausaukee, Wisconsin.
It is mind boggling to consider all the great music that Lyle and Pat have written and performed since they wrote this wonderful soundtrack in 1985. They were both just youngsters slightly over 30 years old. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I been listening to this song for years while stuck in Atlanta traffic.Last year I was hiking the Upper Tehachapi Mountains in California when this song came on. WHAT A DIFFERENCE a change in scenery can DO for a song, I really thought I had crossed over.
The last few stanzas are so musically haunting, I feel as though I am being transported to another world. There is a joy that rises within my soul I feel as if I'm FLOATING. Great artistry.
I first heard this song in 1989 when my recruiter was driving me from Detroit to the recruit station in Mt Clemens to help me work on losing weight so I could get enlisted and get on with the rest of my life. He told me about The Falcon and the Snowman and this CD played all while we were headed up 94. I fell in love with the PMG that day and have been a fan every since. Just saw Pat do a solo tour at the Strathmore in Maryland. AMAZING!!!! RIP Lyle Mays. You will be truly missed. This music really touches my soul and takes me back to the moment I first heard it, in 89, and brings me to tears.
Hearing this piece for the first time. As always, the beats & music of these music geniuses are from a different time & place.. and yet to enjoy for generations to come.

35 years later and it is still the best soundtrack ever created

I've loved this soundtrack for decades since it came out. Play it every morning with my coffee now that I'm retired. God Bless Pat.
David Bowie is gone so is the keyboard wizard Lyle Mays only the guitar legend Pat Metheny remains.....god's of jazz
I remember I heard this song when I was 15 , and Pedrito Aznar sang with Metheny Group. Amazing!
学生時代にこの曲を一度聞いてカセットに録音したはいいのですがその後曲名もわからず20年以上経過しました。
Requiescat in pace Lyle Mays.
