    Lyle, ever since your first C5 Z06 video, I have had a renewed appreciation for the car. However, this video blew me away. It's hard to believe that any C5 Z06 could hold its value that long. Live and learn.

    Great information. In Germany the C5 Z06 is so rarely seen on the streets that it is a great head turner. Stock sound is way louder and exotic than the one coming from Porsches that are widely spread here.

    Fantastic info... Thank you! I have a 2002 Z06 up here in Canada and absolutely love it. One question I have always wondered is : how many C5 Z06's are still out there. Each year it seems many get wrecked in accidents, weather events such as flooding and tornadoes as examples. Curious because as less and less become available, their values should climb due to reduced availability. would be an interesting video if rough numbers were available for all the years... or at least by class. Cheers Rob

    • @cscorvetteify
      @cscorvetteify  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Rob, I know that roughly 28, 300 of them were made from 2001-2004. If we figure that 25% have fallen to attrition through misadventure or conversion to track use only, that would still leave over 20k of them out in the wild. I think that their values will remain steady for the foreseeable future, with a continued gentle rise in value as time progresses. I don't think that they will ever be worth big money like a '63 split window, but they are a solid investment and great driving machines, overall. Lyle

    I want so badly to love the C5 Z06 but I just can't get past the FRC thing. I won't drive my C5 convertible unless it's nice enough to put the top down because I hate the look of the car when the top is up. Plus I love driving with the wind in my hair so a coupe with the top off or a vert with the top down just appeals to me. I'd rather spend the same or close to the same money on a LS3 C6, but that's just me. Not hating on the C5 Z06 owners here, to each their own.

    Whatever became of the '95 C4 with the gremlin in the engine that has puzzled everyone? OBD2 not give a clue? (I ask that because after dropping a new crate engine in my Jeep TJ, the shop couldn't find the problem with the new motor, even though it was spelled out on the OBD2 meter). I've wondered if he has the coin if better to just put in a later model engine than the time/labor costs mounting up for this one?

      I’ve got a 2003 50th Anniversary convertible. I agree that the exterior is gorgeous, but the interior is cheap. However, the 5th Gen Vette has the roomiest interior which is a plus for a tall guy like me. I’ve added a few modest mods to the interior to make it a little nicer.

      You have to understand that the insurance companies will only pay out 50% of value on a salvage vehicle if it is destroyed. they will charge you the same for the insurance as they would for a clean titled car, of course. Also, WHY is the car branded? Collision? Flood? Fire? Those are very important differences. Let me know what you find out. Lyle :)

    I owned a 2003 Electron Blue / Black for about 10 years. I bought it in 2005 with 3k miles on it for 35k and sold it in 2015 with 13k miles for 28.5k. It was a great car. The interior left a little to be desired, but I was solid otherwise. I sold it to buy a new 2015 Scat Pack Shaker Challenger 6 speed which I still own.
