  • Air Greenland signs a historic agreement
It is estimated that the aviation industry accounts for 2% of total CO2 emissions worldwide. Air Greenland is aware that the aviation industry contributes to a significant part of the CO2 emissions and sees it as an important task to take our share of responsibility and contribute positively to limiting CO2 emissions. We therefore continue to work to reduce our impact on the environment and the climate.
There are three main solutions to
reducing the climate impact of the aviation industry.
    - Route and operational optimisation
    - Fleet renewal
    - Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
Most recently, we have introduced Sustainable Aviation Fuel, SAF, in our operations through a historic agreement with DCC & Shell Aviation Denmark. The agreement makes Air Greenland one of the leading airlines in the green transition in Europe. The European Union has a 2025 ambition for airlines in Europe to fly on a minimum of 2% SAF, while Air Greenland flies on 5% SAF on all A330neo "Tuukkaq" flights. In this way, Air Greenland is contributing to the goal of developing Greenland into a sustainable tourist destination.
