      Samaneri Jayasara oh thank you so so much for your kind reply. Since last few months I have been listening to Ajahn chha’s teachings and I feel very strongly that he was a Buddha himself. A very well known vajrayana teacher in Nepal who seems to be little critical of Theravada also appreciates Ajahn chha and he talks about a particular letter written by Ajahn chha for his student about experience at the time of death and he says it’s almost the same as vajrayana concept about near death experience ((Bardo) it would be good if you could read this letter in your Chanel
      But I get very confused that all the Vajrayana teachers including H.H. dalai lama also says Theravada traditions maybe the teachings given by Buddha in public but Mahayana and particularly Vajrayana teachings were given to highly intelligent students in secret. If that’s so why did it take 1500 years to appear? Some scholars says Tibetan Buddhism is nothing but Kashmiri shaivasim mixed with Mahayana tradition. But Ironically I found almost no difference in teachings of Padmasambhava and Akjahn chha. But as you know Padhmasabha helped spread Buddhism-in Tibet. Most people including myself know only mystical things padhmasambhave and I began to doubt that since I have been listening to his Teachings on your Chanel. I would really like to get your opinion on this matter. Do you see Theravada tradition less than Mahayana/Vajrayana?
      Thank you so much

      @@kbgirel6965 Hi there, I have already recorded that teaching some time back of Ajahn Chah's teaching to a person approaching death. You can find all of Ajahn Chah's teachings in my playlists under "Theravada Forest Tradition" or here is the direct link to that teaching for ease of access:
      czcams.com/video/npwULuvTp7g/video.html&ab_channel=SamaneriJayasara
      In relation to your question about the differences between the various traditions, I don't buy into any of that nonsense. It is a waste of time and is just perpetuated by delusive minds. I just practice to see Dhamma for myself and this is all Ajahn Chah recommended to his disciples. Forget about it, don't think about it - the mind is just mara trying to pull you in to doubt and confusion. Let it all go, sweep it away, and find the Deathless within yourself.

    I am hoping you can help clear up something. After many years, I still do not get things like the line, “Whatever arises in the mind, just watch it.” I am not a visual person (aphantasia) and cannot visualize thoughts. I am an auditory thinker. Does he mean you have to have visual ability to visualize thoughts in order to watch them? If not that, what does he mean? How does one do what he is stating? He says it is very simple. For some, maybe. Is it impossible for some?

    • @SamaneriJayasara
      @SamaneriJayasara  Před 3 lety +6

      Hi there, I understand your confusion here, as I am also not a very visual person so I certainly don't really experience thoughts as a visual image. My experience is more of a "felt" sense (and also auditory) when thoughts arise - perhaps because I am more a kinesthetic type. It does make you wonder how people experience their own little world inside their head, doesn't it! And that everyone must see and perceive "their world" in such different ways. But we can all agree that we recognise thoughts arising and ceasing, so you do not need to be concerned with the way in which they manifest and present themselves. Whatever is your experience is just the way it is and that is fine and valid. No need to change that, and essentially you can't anyway. So Ajahn Chah is simply asking us to be "aware" of when thoughts, emotions, moods, etc. arise in the mind/heart and to allow them to dissolve naturally. When he says "watch" the thoughts, he does not want us to get involved in them or analyse them however. It is more a process of being aware and awake to our inner processes and moods and not getting hooked in to them. It's hard to not get drawn into thoughts and moods if we remain unaware. So we wake up to the arising of habitual thoughts, reactive mental processes and see them for what they are - eg: desire, aversion, anxiety, happiness, excitement, boredom, dullness, or simply mundane habitual thought patterns - recognise them for what they are and mindfully let them go. The recognition and wakefulness is the very process that will allow them to dissolve naturally of their own accord. And your job is to stay centred in the Awareness itself. Not Awareness as an object or thing, but rather as your own natural state of wakefulness, clarity and emptiness. You can see this more clearly once the muddy water of endless thoughts settles down. Then there remains a natural clarity, purity, and emptiness - free of the proliferation of mindless thought patterns. Just keep practicing in a gentle, relaxed and calm way and things will become clearer from time to time. At other times, the water may be stirred up, but that is okay too. Rest into and be aware of whatever presents itself without picking and choosing. That is the way of Dhamma. Sorry for the long ramble and hope some of this helps. With all good wishes.

    • @tyanite1
      @tyanite1 Před 3 lety +3

      Samaneri Jayasara That helps tremendously. Also, I am glad to know you understand on a personal level about being non-visual. It seems so much in the realm of what we might call “metaphysical” has instructions in visual terms - so much so that you may not find instruction that doesn’t hinge on visualization. Instructions for inducing an out-of-body experience come to mind. Very kind thanks. I will certainly try with new found understanding.
